Honestly I like South Campus, because it has the nursing program which is located in building 90. And I’m looking forward to starting the program.

PART 2: College Catalog

Use your college print or online catalog to complete the following.

Practical nurse 2 year degree.

a. Compare/contrast courses suggested for your first term with those suggested for your final term.

How do you account for similarities/differences?

It goes from being completely easy to staying up all night and putting hands on training instead of

writing papers I will be taking care of actual patients.

b. Examine the curriculum carefully. Locate two courses in your major area and read their descriptions.

Which will you find more enjoyable? Why?

Anatomy and Physiology, because it teaches you and it actually shows you what you are going to get

yourself into. I already took that class during my senior year in high school and it was a very interesting

class and I’m really looking forward on starting it.

compare to the actual content of the course? What conclusion(s) might you draw about the courses and

SLS 1001 helps me identify myself and it helps me with the way I see things. this class is going to help me with my future curses by teaching me how to manage my career and how to manage time around my schedule.

3. Using your college catalog glossary or other campus resource, define each of the following terms in your own words:

Academic calendar: it shows you the terms and due dates related to college.

Drop: this is a process of dropping a course from your registration.

Withdrawal: withdrawal is the formal act of dropping a course after the deadline to receive a refund and

before the last day to process a withdrawal and receive a W grade.

Residency: must live in Florida for at least 4 years.

Elective: An elective is a course which is not specifically required but offers credit toward a program or

degree.

Syllabus: A syllabus is provided for each course and includes a course outline and requirements.

Transcript :A transcript is a copy of your permanent academic record.

Prerequisites: A prerequisite is a course that you must complete successfully before enrolling another.

Transfer credit: when you transfer a credit from another college to a bigger university

Credit hour: A credit is a unit awarded for taking a course.

GROUP APPLICATION: On a piece of paper Identify three to five additional words or phrases you’ve heard around campus but aren’t sure you understand. Don’t sign your name to the paper. In class I will assign groups after all the pages are collected and I will randomly select several words or phrases for the class to discuss.
