Boot Camp OverviewBoot Camp Overview

• An intensive five-day certificate program provided by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the DePaul University Master of Public Health (MPH) Program.

• The intensive training program is designed to enhance AIDS organizational leaders' professional knowledge of core public health concepts.

• The Boot Camp will provide participants with the necessary tools to apply what they have learned to actual HIV/AIDS programmatic activities.

• Participants will work with local and national experts in public health. Other guest speakers will join the faculty in leading guest lectures and discussions.

• One completed Organizational Support Form in a sealed envelope (completed by your organization’s executive director, chief executive, president, or other appropriate official)

• You are a mid-level professional with direct oversight of HIV-related prevention or care activities and possess a minimum of 2-years work experience in HIV/AIDS services.

• You have the ability to actively participate in an academically rigorous training program.

• You have the ability to apply what you learn in the training program to a specific HIV community and/or agency endeavor.

• You do not possess any formal or advanced training (MPH, DrPH or PhD) in public health.

• You are able to participate for the for the full duration of June 15- 19, 2014 without exception.

• You agree to accept lodging at the Club Quarters, 111 West Adams Street for the duration of the program.

• You are willing to obtain two completed recommendation forms and one organizational support form.

• If accepted, you will also be required to submit the non-refundable $300 enrollment fee.

Application Process: TimelineApplication Process: Timeline

• Applications are due no later than Wednesday, April 30th at 5:00pm.

• Applications will be reviewed for completeness, and those that meet minimum qualifications will be scored by a review committee. Finalists will be interviewed in person the week of May 12th.

• Selected applicants will be notified in writing by Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

• Selected applicants must confirm their placement in the program no later than Friday, June 6 2014 with payment of a non-refundable fee of $300 — the full cost to participants for the week-long program.

• Confirmed applicants will receive detailed instructions in June and other materials to review ahead of the Boot Camp.

• Confirmed applicants will check into Club Quarters on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. to begin the program.

• The program will conclude on the evening of Thursday, June 19, 2014 with a recognition reception.

Boot Camp organizers anticipate accepting a total of 10 to 12 applicants to participate in the certificate program, which will be highly competitive.

Criteria for evaluation include:

• Past and current work experience in HIV/AIDS

• The ability to actively participate in an academically rigorous program

• The ability to apply learning to HIV/AIDS programs

• The ability to facilitate learning to peers and/or community members, and demonstrated leadership potential
