  • NSE PROGRAM PUBLIC ENROLLMENT

    NSE 1, 2, 3: A NEW FOCUS

    NSE RECERTIFICATION PROGRAM

In 2017, the NSE Program was made available to the public, free of charge, in an effort to promote cybersecurity education. Currently NSE 1 is open to the public. NSE 2 and 3 will follow soon.

Candidates who took NSE 1, 2, or 3 before 2017 will notice a change when it is time to renew their certifications. These NSE sales and business levels have been refreshed, resulting in more straightforward and relevant certifications that will save you time and deliver more valuable content.

NSE 1, 2, and 3 are now all related, and look sequentially at today’s security problems (NSE 1), the Fortinet solutions that address the problems (NSE 2), and the products that enable the solutions (NSE 3). All partner sales staff should take NSE 1, 2, and 3.

All NSE certificates are valid for two years from the exam date. All NSE-level certification renewals are independent of each other, with the exception of NSE 7 and NSE 8, which are described below.

Valid NSE 7 certification renews NSE 4 and NSE 5 certifications Obtaining NSE 7 certification renews a valid, previously obtained NSE 4 and / or NSE 5 certification. Obtaining NSE 7 certification will not validate expired certificates. The new expiration date of the NSE 4 and / or NSE 5 certification will be the same as the NSE 7 certification.

NSE 8 certification renews all existing certification levels including expired Obtaining NSE 8 certification renews all existing certifications. Obtaining NSE 8 validates both valid and expired lower-level certifications previously held by the candidate. The new expiration date of the lower levels being validated will be the same as the expiration date of the NSE 8 certification.

Attention The public can access training on the NSE Institute through fortinet.com  , however, it is vital that partners enter the NSE Institute through the Partner Portal  .

Note Visit the FAQ / Certification Renewal section  for examples of higher-level certifications validating lower levels.

Recertification is of considerable importance in the IT environment. Network security professionals and their employers want to make sure that certification holders have valid certifications, which means they must closely monitor trends in networking technology.

NSE certifications are valid for two years.

To keep their certifications current, candidates should recertify by completing the requirements listed in the following table:

    NSE Certification and Recertification Table

    NSE 1 Security Associate

See NSE 8 for NSE 1 associations. This level stands alone and is not dependent on any other level as a prerequisite. The NSE 1 certification is valid for two years from the date the candidate passes the exam on the NSE Institute.

To recertify for NSE 1, the exam must be retaken on the NSE I, or NSE 8 must be attained.

    NSE 2 Security Associate

See NSE 8 for NSE 2 associations. This level stands alone and is not dependent on any other level as a prerequisite, although candidates are strongly encouraged to take NSE 1. The NSE 2 certification is valid for two years from the date the candidate passes the exam on the NSE I.

To recertify for NSE 2, the exam must be retaken on the NSE I, or NSE 8 must be attained. Whether active or inactive, retaking the exam restarts the candidate’s NSE 2 date. It does not recertify NSE 1.
