Student Conservation Association & NPS APPLY NOW for Summer Corps Member Positions Fort Monroe Historic Preservation Corps The Student Conservation Association (SCA), The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s HOPE Crew Program, and the National Park Service seeks qualified young adults to join the Fort Monroe Historic Preservation HOPE Crew Team, one of Superintendent Terry E. Brown’s top priorities for 2017. Responsibilities: Members of the 2017 Fort Monroe Historic Preservation Corps team will engage, and in some cases take the lead, in preserving and stabilizing a variety of historic struc- tures on Fort Monroe National Monument. Projects have been selected to provide ample opportunity for members to practice and refine the following skills; basic carpentry repairs, paint/stain removal & application, and more. Successful completion of this program will see members gain proficiency with a variety of hand tools and power tools; special emphasis will be placed on traditional methods of woodworking. Program Dates: 6/26/2017 – 8/18/2017 Compensation: Up to $480 per week and Crew Member Training. Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age; Must have ability to legally work in the US; Experience working with youth or young adults (ages 14-18); Experience with carpentry preferred; Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more; Ability to meet SCA ’s criminal background check standards; must have personal housing arrangements near Fort Monroe. To apply: 1.
