President’s message – Karen Carson Hello, everyone! This first “message” for our 2015-16 quilt guild year is full of thanks… “Thank you” to the founders of our guild who, back in 1983, got together to form the group we are today. Can you imagine all of the techniques, tools, machines and technology that have evolved over the past 33 years? I believe the charter members would be proud of how their vision has progressed. “Thank you” to all of our past presidents who have guided the guild through many trends, quilt shows and yards of fabric. Finally, “thank you” to all of our current – and future – members who will carry on the 33 year old legacy that is Foothills Piecemakers Quilting Guild. Remember that there are many ways to participate in our guild; serving on a committee (or two) and helping with the 2016 Quilt Show comes to mind. The contribution of your time and talents will be satisfying for you and appreciated by us. Here’s to all of us working together to continue stitching and growing this beautiful, fun filled and colorful quilt guild. Thanks! Karen Carson Ex-President Note I just wanted to write a quick note of thanks to the entire guild for allowing me the opportunity to be your president for the last 2 years! I truly feel blessed to be a part of this guild that not only educates and inspires quilters but also reaches out into the community to provide service and comfort to others. Last but not least, thank you so much for the "quilt class bag and travel tote" as well as the generous Visa card! Your generosity is truly appreciated. Happy Stitch'n! Kristin Kipper Membership News – Sue Burton We had 82 members signed in by the end of our June meeting. We also had 9 guests! What a turnout! At least 3 of our visitors attended to see and hear our speaker, Deb Heatherly, and well worth the trip! Our visitors included Barbara Marlowe and Barbara Salers, visiting from out of state; Ellen Henderson and Nancy Murray, members of Landrum Quilters; R. Carol White from Marietta, SC; Bobbie Nichols and Pam Kerrington of Greer; Nancy Vandiver of Simpsonville; and last but not least, returning guest JoAnna

Renkowski who claims to have been quilting for 100 years. We certainly hope to see most of you returning next month. Speaking of July, it's that time of year again, time to join as a new member or to renew your membership. Our annual dues continue to be a bargain at just $20. Checks may be made out to Foothills Piecemakers Quilting Guild or FPQG, or you may pay with cash. In order to expedite the process, I will once again have an envelope for each renewing member with the contact information we have on it. You will be asked to confirm that the information continues to be accurate and to return the envelope to me with your dues inside. There usually is a bit of a traffic jam at the membership table during this time, but we will try to minimize the delay. You can expect to have your new membership card by the end of the meeting. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! You actually have until the September meeting to renew and still be included in the new membership directory, but why wait? Join or renew early and often! New and soon-to-be new members, remember that we will have a new member social for you before the September meeting, just for you. Stay tuned. Sue Burton Membership Chair Opportunity Quilt If you haven't picked up your 10 tickets yet for the 2016 Opportunity Quilt please do so at the next meeting. Tickets can be picked up next to membership. If you choose not to sell, I would greatly appreciate you just letting us keep your tickets to save us from having to print extras. If you would like more tickets than 10, just ask! Also, if you know somewhere to display the quilt or want to take the quilt somewhere to help sell tickets, just let me know!! Thank you! Kristin Kipper Corresponding Secretary As our new year begins, please let me know if anyone in our guild is in need of a card! Thanks! Quilt Show 2016 Quilters, continue to bring your old quilt magazines and books to our guild meetings as our quilt show is only a year away and we'll sell them in our "Bookstore!" Meeting Minutes for 6-4-2015 President, Kristin Kipper, called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Minutes were approved for the May guild meeting. Kristin announced the lady is still looking for a pattern for "chemo caps." If anyone has a pattern please let Kristin know so she can pass it along. Also, a man is looking for someone to make a green quilt for him to give to his wife to represent their move to Greenville. Let Kristin or new president, Karen Carson know if you wish to take on the request. Old Business - None New Business – A vote was taken of the general membership to approve the new budget for 2015 to 2016. The budget was approved. President Kristen Kipper presented gifts of her appreciation to the 2014-2015 board members for their services this last year. Kristin announced the Opportunity Quilt is now hanging at the Bernina Sewing Center store located at 2310-A East North Street in Greenville, SC. This will allow those interested in seeing the quilt prior to the FPQG 2016 Quilt Show, before they purchase tickets. Committee Reports: PHILANTHROPY - Lois Gaston reminded everyone that Saturday, June 13th is the Earth Fare from 8:30 to 11:30. Also, those making Philo quilts should pick up FPQG labels back at their table. Tonight they showed 6 quilts and 5 tote bags that were turned in. During Show and Share several more were displayed and then turned over to philanthropy. PROGRAMS - Sandy Wolf announced that the July meeting will be our Summer Social so everyone should bring a “a dish to pass” The meeting will focus on information and discussion on our 2016 Quilt Show. Sandy will continue the position of VP in charge of programs through the end of the year. She is hoping someone will come forward and resume the responsibilities for next year.
