Scan Method comparison chart
Advantages Disadvantages
Upload Method by .txt file
Saves an archive of your scans
Generates a report of everything that was scanned by the order it was scanned
Scans process very quickly
Does not allow you to see any information about the record in the database, only the barcode number
Forces you to read through the reports generated after you upload to resolve any errors that occurred
Forces you to check in any books that were lost or checked out
Direct to Destiny Method by network
connection
Allows you to see problems as they occur (for example, if the barcode is not found in the database)
Allows you to see the call number and title of the book in the database
Automatically checks in lost and checked out books
Does not save an archive file of your scans
Does not generate a report of everything that was scanned by the order it was scanned
Forces you to read the scanner screen and listen to the error sound after every scan so you can resolve errors as they occur
Depending on your network, the scans might process slowly
