Fathers DayA group of Fogolar volunteers assembled on

Sunday, April 6 to clean up the North Service Road

as part of the Adopt-a-Street program. The program

has been established as a public service program

for volunteers to pick up litter along City of Windsor

streets. It is an avenue for environmentally con-

scious citizens to make a personal contribution to a

cleaner community free of litter and debris. Under

the program, groups or individuals agree to adopt a

section within the City and keep it clean. The

Fogolar has adopted the section of the North

Service Road between Turner Road and Windsor

    Factory Supply.

    Thank you, Fogolar volunteers!

Sick and Nursing Home VisitationGroupThe Sick/Nursing Home Visitationgroup is made up of a very specialgroup of compassionate womenwho volunteer and make time week-ly to visit the various nursing andretirement homes to spend somespecial moments visiting the infirmand elderly living in these facilities.

Gina Marcuzzi, Esterina Liva, MariaAnzolin, Laura Facca, Elda Marcon, and Renata Del Col have volun-teered their time for countless yearsvisiting the many Italians in the vari-ous nursing homes in the city. Othermembers have also joined thisgroup at different times to fill in if oneof them was unable or unavailableto participate. Their weekly visitsuplift the spirits and hopefully allowthe elderly to realize that they arenot forgotten. Sadly, for some, ourwomen may be the only visitors theymay see during their stay. With atouch, a spoken word, laughter anda possibly a prayer sometimes, ourladies bring comfort and encourage-ment to all those who can no longeractively participate in the daily rou-

    tine of life.

The Womens Association recentlyreceived a very generous monetarydonation from a Fogolar membergiven in memory of his mother whowas visited regularly by members ofour sick visitation group. This dona-tion will be used by the group anddesignated for items that are givento those Fogolar family membersthe ladies visit in the various facili-ties. Items such as cards, kneeblankets, candies, cookies, choco-lates will be purchased and given tothe women to distribute as theydeem appropriate.
