IntroductionThese release notes contain information about version 4.0 of the Trimble® FmX® integrated display.

– Prescriptions can now be selected even when the vehicle is a great distance away from the field, enabling operators or managers to load a prescription before driving to the field.

– GPS—the terminology referring to Wide Area Augmented Signal (WAAS) has now changed to Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS).

Feature changesThe following changes have been implemented since the release of version 3.0:

New features in the Field-IQ plug-in

With version 3.0 of the FmX display, the Field-IQ crop input control system plug-in enabled you to control planting and variable rate applications. Version 4.0 adds support for spraying, spreading, and strip-till applications.

Manual control for sections is now independent of rate control. Switch to manual control for sections while rate continues to be controlled automatically from the master switch box.

Sprayers

• Control up to 48 sections of nozzles and shutoff sections to avoid overspraying. Set up sections in the Hardware tab:

• Vary rates automatically at set rates or with prescriptions.

• Interface to existing in-cab switches for manual section control.


• Supports all existing EZ-Boom® platforms.

• Supports Raven 400 and 4000 series controllers and cabling.

• Control servo, pump servo, PWM, bypass, dump valve, and master valve configured spraying systems.

• Arm and disarm the pump from the Run screen.

• Allow the PWM pump to run in agitate mode with fields closed.

• Provides on-screen monitoring of multiple pressures and sensors:

Spreaders

• Shut off spreading when going over previously-applied areas or non-productive zones.

• Monitor gate height.

• Monitor spinner speed.

• Use gate height sensor to automatically adjust calibration factors.


• Control for servo, PWM, and existing drives:

Manage the varied nitrogen needs in your field by using prescriptions to vary rates manually or by using GreenSeeker® sensors to assist side-dress applications of liquid nitrogen.

• Supports existing EZ-Boom systems.

• Supports existing Raven systems, including Fast valves and Standard/Master combo valves.

• Vary rates automatically at set rates or with prescriptions.

• Monitor pressure sensors.

• Control up to 48 sections of nozzles and shutoff sections to avoid overapplication.

• Enter start and end tank weights to improve calibrations.

Enhanced Run screen

The information presented on the “Run screen” displays greater detail in coverage mapping and vehicle position. It also allows quick access to themes:

• In the overhead view, a new vehicle alignment icon shows greater position accuracy.


• New translucent coverage layers show skips as well as single, double, and triple coverage:

Context-sensitive help

The FmX integrated display now features context-sensitive help screens that provide details and helpful information about the current screen. To access the help, tap :


A Help screen, similar to the one show below, appears. To exit the Help screen and return to the previous screen, tap OK:

Improved user interface and data reporting

New tools provide in-cab reporting of implement drift and current field selections. In the office summary, it is easy to read reports.

• Summary reports are stored in PDF format.

• Average XTE coverage layer and summary report can be used to evaluate implement drift.

• A calculator pad is available for numerical entries. You can also convert rows to feet directly on the display.

• The Data Dictionary is now self-populating.

• Fields default to the last event name for back-to-back operating.

• Importing and exporting swath lines is improved for simplicity.

• Version 4.0 contains a pop-up screen that can be customized by the dealer.


Variable rate

• Improved handling of shapefile based prescription variants.

• Prescriptions can now be selected even when the vehicle is a great distance away from the field, enabling operators or managers to load a prescription before driving to the field:

Additional NMEA output support

• NMEA out is now available on the A and B ports when using EZ-Steer and manual guidance.

• Support includes GGA, VTG, and RMC.

The terminology referring to Wide Area Augmented Signal (WAAS) has now changed to Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS).

Autopilot automated steering system

• Initialization of the heading is improved for more consistent reporting at start-up. This reduces the potential spinning heading condition at start-up.

• Updated VDB file.

• Updated warning strings.

• Support for changing NavControllers while the display is powered on. This is useful for troubleshooting purposes.

TrueGuide implement guidance system

• Support for 4-wheel drive vehicles in addition to FWD and tracked tractors.

• Average XTE coverage layer can be used for monitoring implement position.

FieldLevel II Automated Levelling System

• Section line numbers and outlets are now labeled:


• Improvements have been made when importing multi-plane files.

• Larger equipment is supported; allowed antenna height is increased.

Additional support for the EZ-Remote joystick

Version 4.0 of the FmX integrated display supports the EZ-Remote joystick, which plugs into Port B of the display.

Each button on the joystick can be programmed. To do this, press the button on the joystick and then select a function on the display:
