Mr. Kraxner graduated from the BOKU-University in Vienna in Forestry, where he specialized in Mountain Risk Engineering and Watershed Management. He is currently finalizing his PhD dissertation on Forest Bioenergy at the Institute for Marketing and Innovation for Forest Sector Policy and Economics of BOKU-University and NIES in Japan. Since 2006 he has been a visiting researcher at NIES where he is working on integrated forest bioenergy and rural development concepts in the Eco-Model Cities of Yusuhara Town, Shikoku, and Shimokawa Town, Hokkaido, Japan. From 2000-2004 Mr. Kraxner was employed at BOKU–University, Vienna, as coordinator for the international master courses as well as being responsible for the development of higher education courses in the Forestry and Natural Resources Management Sector. Since 2000 he has further been working in the fields of forest products certification and public opinion on the forest sector inter alia for the EFI Project Centre Innoforce, as well as for the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe (MCPFE) and as a consultant for FAO and UNECE. Short Profile Florian Kraxner is acting as Deputy Program Leader since July 2009. Within the same year he was appointed IIASA’s official representative to the International Environmental Science Initiative SCOPE and IIASA Coordinator of the UK Policy-Science Activity FORESIGHT. Mr. Kraxner joined the IIASA Forestry Program in 2004 to work on LULUCF - modeling. He is Coordinator of IIASA’s EU Projects INSEA for Carbon Sequestration Potentials, GEO-BENE for Benefits through Global Earth Observation and CC-TAME for Climate Change – Terrestrial Adaptation & Mitigation in Europe.

Mr. Kraxner graduated from the BOKU-University in Vienna in Forestry, where he specialized in Mountain Risk Engineering and Watershed Management. He is currently finalizing his PhD dissertation on Forest Bioenergy at the Institute for Marketing and Innovation for Forest Sector Policy and Economics of BOKU-University and NIES in Japan. Since 2006 he has been a visiting researcher at NIES where he is working on integrated forest bioenergy and rural development concepts in the Eco-Model Cities of Yusuhara Town, Shikoku, and Shimokawa Town, Hokkaido, Japan.
