Europem has developed the proprietary Venturi Flame Shield

Europem Venturi Flame Shield (VFS)

Europem has developed the proprietary Venturi Flame Shield giving double protec� on against fl ame lick. The VFS also pushes air up towards � p exit, leading to an enhanced and more stable combus� on process.

The VFS can be integrated into most Europem Flare Tips but is par� cularly suitable for H2S fl ares, ammonia fl ares, hydrocarbon fl ares and lean waste gas fl ares.

Europem can supply complete fl are systems which include knock-out vessels, water seals, molecular seals, conical purge gas seals, pilots and igni� on systems.

Water Seal Vessels, Molecular Purge Reducti on Seals, Conical Purge Reducti on Seals and Knock-Out Drums

Features

• Water Seal Vessels equipped with an overfl ow weir to maintain a minimum water level, an� -pulsa� on baffl es and a dip-pipe with distribu� on cone forcing the waste gas to fl ow through the water bath

• A liquid level control with automa� c draining prevents the vessel from overfi lling

• Molecular Seals are equipped with a riser pipe and cap to either form a layer of purge gas on the top, when the purge gas is lighter than the air, or on the bo� om when the purge gas is heavier than the air of the vessel

• Conical Seals are in fact an inverted conical restric� on made as a sec� on of the riser. This restric� on will locally induce a higher waste gas velocity which in turn entrains any penetra� ng air and carries it up to the fl are burner

Vessels

Europem supplies the upstream equipment to remove droplets from gases or provide a seal between the fl are burner and the waste gas piping in order to prevent air from infi ltra� ng the fl are riser and thus prevent fl ash back. Purge gas is employed to prevent fl ash back by stopping air ingress to the fl are gas header. Molecular seals and also Conical seals are both devices that reduce purge gas fl ow rates. Conical seals will require a slightly higher purge gas fl ow rate than a Molecular seal, but have the advantage of a simpler more economic design. This design cannot be blocked by debris,

sludge or ice forma� on and does not put addi� onal load on the fl are structure, being integral to the fl are riser. Although purge systems are the perfect solu� on for fl ash back preven� on, the fl ow of purge gas can always be lost. A water seal can be installed to provide a resistance to fl ame propaga� on upstream in the waste gas piping. Vessels can be supplied either as an integral part of a fl are system or as stand alone items. Both ver� cal, typically integrated with the Flare riser, or horizontal confi gura� ons are available.

Igni� on Systems

Europem igni� on systems and pilot burners have been developed for their con� nuous reliable opera� on in harsh environments and in all weather condi� ons. High grade alloys are used and cri� cal parts are mounted in protec� ve housings to ensure the long life� me of the equipment. Both High Energy electronic spark igni� on and fl ame front igni� on systems are off ered. Flame Front Igni� on (FFG) systems have been used as the workhorse of the fl are industry for many years. The FFG pilot igni� on line is fi lled with a combus� ble gas/air mixture, then ignited by a spark on the igni� on skid to generate a fl ame front travelling through the igni� on line up to the Pilot burner. This fl ame front subsequently ignites the pilot gas and in turn the waste gas. Both manual and automa� c fl ame front igni� on systems can be off ered. High Energy Electronic spark igni� on uses a high energy electric arc to ignite the combus� ble pilot air-gas mixture. The arc is generated at fi xed intervals for a limited period of � me.

Igni� on systems can be supplied with either Manual or Automa� c igni� on controls, or a combina� on of both.

For safe areas and for explosion proof areas, either onshore or off shore and with retractable or non-retractable ignitor rods.

Pilot Burners

Pilot burners can combine one or more of the igni� on systems described above and with a con� nuous fl ame to ensure that combus� ble waste gas mixtures are always ignited and combusted. Europem pilot burners have the following features:

• High Energy Igni� on to ensure reliable igni� on regardless of moisture levels, dirt or atmospheric condi� ons

• Igni� on rod, spark plug and thermocouple are housed in the main pilot body for added protec� on and prevent exposure to high temperatures

• Made from high grade stainless steel alloys Pilot burners can be supplied with • Single or Duplex Thermocouples

or Thermocouples plus Ionisa� on detec� on.

• Self-aspira� ng venturi mixers or with forced dra� air

• High temperature cable with pre-wired plug and socket connec� ons

• AC or DC electronics
