YES...IT’S SUMMERTIME!
We live in a world of passionate desires, don’t we?
Whether it is a political agenda, a ball team, a music
group, or any number of other things, we support
some things easily and enthusiastically, without even
having to try very hard. Our passions generally corre-
spond very closely with how we spend our money. For
instance, many of us know what we want to do for vacation, before we know
how we are going to pay for it. Many of us go looking for the car we want to
buy first and negotiate the details of paying for it secondly. But many of us
have also learned, that if we don’t plan our financial life, we run the risk of ne-
glecting some of the things we are most passionate about.
If you are reading this article, then First Church is most likely a passion of
yours. You know that the world we live in is uncertain and unpredictable and,
because you know that, you are passionate about supporting the Kingdom
through the legacy of First United Methodist Church in Roswell. And if you
have been around for a while, you know that some of the operating expenses
of the church are much higher in the summer, during the time when our offer-
ing is usually less. If you are able, please give a little extra during the month
of July. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider the need of your
church.

YOUTH WORK TEAM CAME TO
ROSWELL! Forty-six youth and 4 adults from Wellspring
UMC in Georgetown, Texas stayed in our church
the week of the 12th. They split in to three groups
and worked at the Roswell Boys & Girls Club,
Harvest Foodbank, and First Church. They have
trimmed bushes, planted bedding plants, sorted
books, and replaced ceiling tiles. They lined
shelves and cabinets in our kitchen, Pastors Laird
& Tina and members of the Ad Council cooked
hamburgers for them their last evening here. Here
are a few pictures showing just what young people
can accomplish...what a great group!

Our meetings are the 4th Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m., at Peach Tree Village. Faith & Promise UMW extends a warm welcome to all women to come enjoy our fellowship, worship, event planning, and occasional speakers.

BROCHURES AVAILABLE IN THE CHURCH OFFICE
Work In Progress
Repairs and replacements are a never ending pro-
cess. Even though this facility looks great from the
outside some of the bones are periodically in need of
TLC. For example, during the week of June 18th the
plumbing gremlins got to us again. Some of the two
and one half inch copper pipes and fittings, on the
main line coming into the church, gave up the ghost
from sever corrosion resulting in a very large leak in
the Youth Game Room. The leak found its way un-
der the wall separating the Youth Room and the New
Beginnings Room, causing a wet carpet. All of the
items that were stored on the floor of the New Begin-
nings Room had to be removed and now reside in the
basement hall (temporarily). The leak has been re-
paired but several feet of pipe had to be or-
dered. This repair will be completed, by RPM Plumb-
ing, sometime during the week of June 25th when the
ordered plumbing will arrive. Lord save us from cor-
roding pipes.
