Professional Objective

To seek a position in general conservation biology or environmental stewardship management in order to gain field, data, and analytical skills, in addition, to develop, leadership skills in environmental policy management for graduate

education.

Research Experience

September – December 2014, Arsenic concentration in the green sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis, in near shore benthic environments in Commencement Bay, WA.

Assessment of arsenic metal concentration in a subset population of green sea urchin via in vivo tissue sampling and elemental analysis of substrate near the historic Asarco smelter environmental remediation and contamination sites.

April 2014 – May 2015, Quantifying relative seasonal abundance of marine polychaete worm families at three stations of the South Sound Shoreline of Commencement Bay, WA. Questioning the effects of urban and industrial storm water by monitoring benthic marine sediment size, type, and pollution as factors in polychaete family diversity.

In this study, we are evaluating granulometric and chemical pollutant effects in marine sediments as possible factors to biological patterns in benthic macrofauna ecology given that marine polychaetes are bioindicators of sediment health.

Leadership Experience

September 2012 - May 2015, President and Founder of Ocean Intellect. Founded and catalyzed an environmental awareness club for the University of Puget Sound. As an

organization, Ocean Intellect includes a diverse community of students who share a common passion for ocean protection. My responsibilities included budget management, networking with environmental groups in Washington State, event planning, and leading outdoor education adventures.

May- October 2014, Surfrider Foundation Marine Spatial Planning Contractor. Surfrider Foundation is a national non-profit organization that focuses on ocean advocacy programming and

stewardship. My responsibilities as an independent contractor included representing and analyzing Surfrider Foundation’s Recreational-Use Survey. I communicated with various businesses, conservation organizations, and public recreational centers about ‘how, why, and where’ people use the Washington coastline.

April- December 2014, South Sound Surfrider Vice Chairman As vice chairman I assisted planning and development projects for the Tacoma, WA South Sound Chapter as

an executive committee board member. I managed beach cleanups, field prep, social media outreach, and volunteer coordination.

May- September 2014, Volunteer with Ocean Inquiry Project. Seattle based non-profit organization that teaches middle school students about marine science via boat

cruises, scuba diving, and general biology topics. I participated in scuba diving specimen collection, water column chemistry, and plankton biology.

May-August 2014- Volunteer at Puyallup Watershed Initiative: Russell Family Foundation I volunteered with staff members of the Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection Agency, and other

private consultants in the proposal planning of the Puyallup Watershed Initiative. I participated in planning environmental and public relations management regarding stormwater regulations.

August 2012- August 2014, Passages Orientation Leader As a member of the campus orientation program I lead backpacking trips for first year students in the
