Dear Eric,

As you are aware, last year we did a program for the holiday season to help the thousands of families in need in the Berkshires.  Meals that we take for granted such as a warm turkey dinners are one of the many things needy families will go without during this season.  Because of your company’s help we were able to feed over 1000 people in our community. Providing a meal will not change the lives of those less fortunate, but it can help bring a smile to their faces. We are asking you to step up again to be apart of this awesome program. This year our goal is to grow awareness of our Electronic Edition and or convert customers to either the annual pay or the EZ Pay methods.  In the past, we have offered subscription discounts, a discount card, and anything else that we thought would entice a customer to subscribe or convert to these payment methods.   During this holiday season we have decided not to give a huge discount, but rather to offer something tangible and meaningful to both our prospective subscribers and to our current ones as well.  It is our wish to partner with your organization, as well as Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels and Lenox Food Pantry to provide a turkey dinner during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to one needy family for every one EZ Pay or Annual Pay customer we garner during this special promotional period. We will also give a meal to one needy family for every new e-Edition during the promotion. During this time, The Berkshire Eagle plans to run three promotional advertisements each week for six weeks in support of this campaign. We also plan to run four promotional ads two weeks after the promotion thanking our customers and your business.  The estimated value of these 22 advertisements is $96,000.  We are hoping that Stop and Shop will help us make a difference in the lives of those in need in the Berkshires.  Again, The Berkshire Eagle will be working with the aforementioned organizations to distribute these turkey dinners.  It is our hope that Stop and Shop will be able to help defray some of the cost of purchasing these meals.  It is our hope that your company will help us provide these meals by discounting our cost by more than 75% or more. We also request $1,000 in gift cards that will be used as sales incentives during the year. In return your company’s logo will be listed as the sponsor on all 25 promotional advertisements.  Again, the estimated value of these advertisements is $96,000.  The promotional period will begin November 6 th and end December 18th, 2010.  Your commitment to this promotion is urgently needed! My goal is to have one of the potential sponsors picked by October 28th. I went to you first.
