Gods Love Letter for You and Me

Solitude, Service and Prayer: Our Weapons Against Evil

Last Taize Prayer, we made a special souvenir for the participants. Not something that we bought like what we usually do but something we have personally crafted, done with so much love and concern. The members of the Youth Ministry wrote meticulously a Love Letter from God recognizing that we are just Gods instruments to make others feel and experience His love. This unique token is a fruit of our communal prayer and discernment as a Youth Council. We realize that we dont need to spend too much in buying things to be given out. Instead, we can do a simple act of love. So we wrote a love letter instead of printing it in the computer. We had some sessions where we gathered and reflected upon the content of the letter. We helped one another grow in faith. We shared our current struggles, joys and successes with the group. And there were some of us who were at the point of despair, but after reading and reflecting the letter from God, they stood up stronger and resolved to be more faithful.

What excited us most is the would be reactions of people when they receive the letter. Will they be happy? Will they share it with others? Will they save it inside their pockets, or throw it in the trash can? We really dont know, but we are hopeful that those letters will be able to touch, inspire and give strength to everyone, especially to those who really long for the love of God. This is the letter we shared which we got from Bo Sanchez:

    1. What is the Year of the Laity? The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines or CBCP declared 2014 Year of the Laity as part of a nine-year long intensive evangelization in preparation for the 5th Centennary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines that will be celebrated in 2021. Its theme is Called to be Saints, Sent Forth as Heroes. On December 1, 2013, Archbishop Socrates Villegas, President of CBCP issued a Pastoral Exhortation for the Year of the Laity entitled Filipino Catholic Laity: Called to Be Saints, Sent Forth as Heroes. The purpose of this year is to rediscover the important and irreplaceable role of the laity in the Church and in the sanctification of

How do we conquer evil? Experience tells yes that it is difficult to be victorious over evil because of our human weakness. We are inclined to choose what is easy, convenient and practical rather than to follow the logic of the saints which is "to do what is difficult" or to take the path of contra agere. It is easy to gossip, to see and recognize the negative attitudes of others than to speak well of them and focus on their goodness and potentials. It is convenient for us to live a life of mediocrity and give way to spiritual sloth than to be faithful, passionate, creative and enthusiastic in fulfilling our religious duties and responsibilities. The choices we usually make are based on practicality - on what can be immediately useful and beneficial for oneself - and not on moral standards or what the Church teaches which respects human dignity and promotes the common good. Conquering evil is part and parcel of our Christian life. We remember during the rite of Baptism that we are asked by the priest whether we renounce sin and Satan or not and

Ukon mas kilala sila sa iban whether we believe in God or not. How many of us realize that this renunciation of Satan and profession of our belief in God must be a daily endeavour, a daily task which we can faithfully fulfil with God's grace and our own cooperation. The journey towards sanctity or perfection includes battling against the many temptations that come along our way. Our human imperfections, weaknesses and brokenness may cause us to give in to sin. But this should not discourage us or lead us to despair. One spiritual author in the name of Henri Nouwen believes that the route to perfection is, in fact, through imperfection, along with the realities of struggle, weakness and incompleteness. What is important is that we are aware and we accept our

weaknesses and vulnerabilities and we trust in God's power to help us, like St. Paul who said that, It is in my weakness that I am strong. As we struggle in conquering evil in our personal and communal life, I believe that what Wil Hernandez has learned from the life of Henri Nouwen, which he wrote in his book entitled, "A Spirituality of Imperfection", can help us. He talked about the process by which Henri Nouwen spiritually embarked: journeying into the depths of his inner self via solitude, reaching out to others in service, and above all, earnestly seeking God in prayer. Solitude. Service. Prayer. These can be our great weapons as we wage war against Satan and other evil spirits. It is good to ask ourselves: Do we claim space and time amidst life's numerous concerns for consciousness and conscience examen? Are we generous in serving our brethren especially the poor and the needy? Do we constantly nourish or nurture our relationship with God?May Jesus and His Blessed Mother, Mary, find us always victorious over sin and death. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

My Dear Child, I believe in you. If I didnt, I wouldnt

have made you into such an amazing and wonderful person. I believe in you so much, I planted dreams in your heart. Dreams that will bless you and bless the world. Dreams that will make you grow in love and will mature in your soul. Yes, I will use you to share My light and love to many.

So believe in yourself. Even when you fail. Never give up on yourself. Failure is an important part of your success. Look around and youll discover that the most successful people are those who have failed the most. Trust in Me. I trust in you!

Know the difference between paths and purpose. Even if your chosen path fails, never give up on your purpose. Surrender to

my surprises and open yourself to My abundance. For I have the best blessings and the perfect miracles for you, far better than what you can think of or imagine.

Nourish your soul in My Love and My Word. Nourish your soul with other like-minded Dreamers who have fire in their hearts.

Now go, My child, and share My love and light to all those around you.

Always remember that I believe in you.

    Loving you always, God

On the Year of the Laity(Excerpt from the Primer on the Year of the Laity)

the world. This year especially celebrates both the sacrament of Baptism by which all the faithful become Gods sons and daughters and the sacrament of Confirmation by which they become witnesses of Christ to others. This year is to be devoted to the renewal of the laity, to their empowerment or more accurately to activating their charisms from the Spirit, so that they may indeed take up their role as co-responsible agents of evangelization and lead in the task of social transformation (cf. CBCP Pastoral Exhortation on the Era of New Evangelization)2. What are the other themes of the Era of New Evangelization?

2013 - Integral Faith Formation 2014 - Renewal of the Laity 2015 - Active Participation of the Poor in Evangelization and Social Transformation

2016 - The Eucharist and the Family (in this year the International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Cebu) 2017 - Transforming the Parish as a Communion of Communities 2018 - Renewal of the Clergy and the Religious 2019 - Active Participation of the Youth 2020 - Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue 2021 - Missio ad Gentes

maghimo sing tikang bisan may kinamatarong kita. Iya man ginahinambit nga dapat higugmaon naton ang aton kaaway. Kon indi naton mahimo nga sila higugmaon kag patawaron, indi kita malayo sa mga layi nga ginapatuman sadto pa (where love and forgiveness were only confined to ones countrymen). God is universal in His charity; both good and bad people receive His life and gifts.Sa pangkabilugan, ang aton pagka Kristyano indi lang kutob sa paghigugma sa aton isigkatawo kasubong sang paghigugma man naton sa aton kaugalingon (do not do to others

what you should like others to do to you), daw balusay lang bala, kundi nga maghigugma kita sa aton isigkatawo kasubong nga ang Dios nagahigugma sa sina nga tao. Sa akon pagpaubos kag pagpasensya gingrasyahan gid man ako sang ulihi kay nakatigayon ako nga makabakal sang isa ka lote nga balalayan. Wala Niya ako ginpabay-an. Palangga gid man Niya ako kasubong man sang pag palangga Niya sa inyo.Maayo gid man nga wala kita sing mga ginahuptan nga aligotgot sa aton tagipusuon kay we will attain peaceful mind and no stress, physically and spiritually healthy! Ano say mo?Pamangkot:1. February 19, 2014. In his weekly general audience, Pope Francis talked about the Sacrament of confession. With about 20,000 people in St. Peters Square, the Pope encouraged Catholics to embrace the Sacrament.

Because of sin, we can even lose this new life. Jesus therefore willed that the Church continue his works of salvation for his members, in particular through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, which flows from the Paschal Mystery. The forgiveness we receive is not the result of our own efforts, but is the gift of the Holy Spirit reconciling us to God and to each other.

While some may be tempted to dismiss it, because of laziness, embarrassment or a lost sense of sin, the Pope described it as a gift that can heal hearts and minds. The Sacrament of

Reconciliation calls us back to God, and embraces us with His infinite mercy and joy. May we allow His love to renew us as His children and to reconcile us with Him, with ourselves, and with one another. After the General Audience, Pope Francis extended his greetings and gave his blessings to all present; pilgrims and visitors.(Romereports.com)February 20, 2014. Pope Francis kicked off the first consistory of his

pontificate. He arrived early, at 9:12AM. After greeting each other, the cardinals set in for a long and intense work day. Their main topic of discussion is one of the Churchs main concerns: the state of families today.

Tips for Growth 5 Tips To Help Control Your Anger

take a 20 minute time-out from an angry situation. Walk away, practice deep breathing to calm down your body. Come back to the situation once you are physically relaxed.

take each thought captive (2corinthians 10:5). Angry emotions are rooted in angry thoughts so learn to stop that angry thought and think of something more positive or good (Philippians 4:8).

choose not to take offense. Even if offense was given, it is your decision to take or refuse it. Always err on the side of giving mercy to others. When you are the target of injustice, do

the unnatural but biblical thing-pray for that person (Matthew 5:44). I admit, this isnt easy to do.

choose to forgive. Because God forgave you, you must forgive others. Its a biblical mandate (Matthew 18:21-22). Forgiveness is an act of obedience to God and prevents bitterness from forming.

Ginatawag naton ini nga the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Always remember. You are the only one who has control over your responses. An angry emotion may creep up, but how you handle it is what counts. The biblical directive is to be angry and not sin (Ephesians 4:26). The way we meet that requirement is to respond in a godly way no matter what the source of the anger. Paul sums it up in Romans 12:19-21 (NLT) Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God. For it is written: I will take vengeance; I will repay those who deserve it, says the Lord. Instead do what the Scriptures say: If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink, and they will be ashamed of what they have done to you. Dont let evil get the best of you, but conquer evil by doing good. beliefnet.com

asked for several times to quit but to no avail. He smokes in and out of the house. family including their daughters. This happened more than 10 years ago yet the killer is still at-large.An officemate of another friend borrowed a few thousand pesos from him after many years the loan is still unpaid. These are just a few problems that could also happen to anyone of us.We asked ourselves upon reading these problems why are these happening within the family and with our dealings with others.Normally in our society, when we give out a loan to a friend or an acquaintance, isnt it that we expect that person, to pay us back without or with less interest? The same with the death of a son, is it not that we would want to take revenge more than having the killer jailed as a requirement of justice? As a human being, to love our enemies and to

do good to them is the most difficult and the most challenging commandment that the Lord has given us. Sometimes, I become afraid that I might fall short because I feel, that this commandment is almost impossible to follow. To love our neighbor is not really that hard if

our neighbor has not yet done anything bad to us, but when he throws his garbage into our vicinity, making loud noise until late in the evening, not returning back what he borrowed from us, or like my friends son killed by a neighbor, the command to love our enemies and pray for them, so that we will become perfect like our Father in Heaven is perfect, seems impossible. Here are a few suggestions that passed by my thoughts on how we can follow this commandment; considering an enemy as a dear friend, loving our critics and those who make our lives sometimes miserable as members of our families, embracing the insults thrown to us with humility and cheer and welcoming their demands by exceeding their expectations. In this way, we may be able to love everyone including our enemies unconditionally.

Problems of all sorts disturb our lives today: They are present at all times and in all places Disobedience Pride Jealousy Destructive Competition Dishonesty Treason Murder - Rape Robbery and many more. They are problems which disturb our peace and brotherhood of men. Tears and heartaches disrupt friendship and love and plunge many communities into the pit of turmoil. Shall we just cross our arms watching the ongoing events without lifting a finger? We are all brothers and sisters with God as our Father. If we value this relationship as Christians, this is the time to show our concern and do something before things become intolerable to manage.Respond! Let us not watch only and listen. Let us wipe every the dirt of malice by consoling the sick and the weak, and offering whatever assistance we can to those who need. Let us use the mathematics of assistance:

add: help in any form; hope to those in despair; love to the weak and the friendless; strength to those who lost courage and faith.Subtract: Jealousy and selfishness; pride and anger; superiority complex; covetousness; false leadership.Multiply: Courage, faith, concern; neighborliness; helpfulness; prayers.divide: Your time; your attention; your material and spiritual graces.Rebuild! Repair broken friendships. Pick up the broken chains of endorsement

and reconnect them. Build a bridge that can span the distance created by pretense and insincerity. Together practice discipleship, put up a fortress which materials are stronger than brick and iron the materials of courage and faith.Resurrect! Arise from the dark cave of self-destruction and renew your faith and trust in God. Ask for strength and courage. Many trials come to us; especially to those who give time to prayer. God wants to see if we can resist the test of faith especially if He can see our struggle in the midst of financial and emotional stress. He wants to see if we can make excuses in times of temptations and give way to spiritual errors.God has given us intelligence. He is giving us the science of evaluation which way to follow what method to use. Let us not depend on our knowledge alone. He is giving us the Holy Spirit to guide us to know and understand what is good for us and overcome especially our spiritual problems. The Holy Spirit gives us the wisdom to see, understand and apply our knowledge. Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our Mother too, is always ready to be our intercessor if we pray to her.As I write this, I recall the movie, The Sound of Music, which has inspired me since I saw the film
