  • History Dates back to 2000 B.C.- one of the oldest surviving religions. Earliest writings have not been deciphered. Indus River Valley civilizations have evidence Hinduism was practiced there. Original language is Sanskrit. Name comes from the Indus River.

  • COOL STUFF ABOUT HINDU! Doctrine- to attain liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. Experiential- during ones life as a Hindu, one must go through four stages in life brahmacharga, which takes place during the school years, is focused on acquiring knowledge and developing character; grastha, the middle years, is focused on worldly pursuits and pleasures such as marriage, family and career; vanaprastha, when one's children reach adulthood, is a time of increased focus on spiritual things; and sanngasu, in the last years of life, one may abandon the world entirely for a life of contemplation.
