    HYPOTHESIS

My hypothesis for the potential function is multiplefactors. I believe he does this to escape the activity,

but also wants the attention of his peers.

Noticed that the student was more likely to get out ofhis seat in a class or activity that is less structured.

Stayed in seat during keyboarding because he wasconstantly engaged.

    FUNCTIONAL-BASED INTERVENTION

Step 1: KL will be told what target behavior is andthe rewards and consequences that are associated.

KL will know that unless told to be out of his seat todo a certain task by the instructor, he should remainin his seat throughout the whole class session gettingup no more than 2 times to sharpen his pencil or

    throw something away.

KL will track how many times he gets out of his seat.

    FUNCTIONAL-BASED INTERVENTION

    Step 2: Implement Consequences:

If KL only gets out of his seat twice per class then he earnscomputer time the following day during advisory.

If KL gets out of his seat more than 2 times per class he hascommunity service during advisory the next day.

    RESEARCH DESIGN AND CONDITION

If this intervention is effective, KL will show adecrease in the number of times he gets out of hisseat during one class period.

The data should show that the target behavior shoulddecrease and the replacement behavior will increase.

    RESULTS

Over time, KL showed a decrease in the targetbehavior.

Results show that intervention was successful andnegative and positive consequences were a good fitfor KL.

    DISCUSSION

By putting KL in charge of his own behavior, he hadto take ownership and realized he was in charge ofhis own behavior.

I noticed that putting KL closer to his friends in theclass instead of isolated made him get out of his seatless.

Will this behavior continue even without the tracker?
