o In January 2013, Hibah Shabkhez, a young and talented student of M.A. participated in “French
Poetry Recitation Competition”, organized at Aitchison College, Lahore. The participants were
mainly from the well known institutions where French language is a part of the curriculum.
o Hibah Shabkez was also selected to represent the University of the Punjab in a Students’
Exchange Program. In a weeklong visit to Japan in June 2013, she represented the Punjab
University’s French department and actively participated in different activities.

o Our Principal won the faculty leadership award from LII (Lahore Insurance Institute). He
continues to send policy papers to government in the area of fiscal finance.

Student Leadership
o Several societies exist in our College and throughout the year Exhibitions, Competitions, and
Debates were arranged by them to actively involve the students and to help develop leadership
in them. This institutionalized effort has been very helpful.
Faculty of Economics & Management Science
INSTITUTE OF ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES
o Students of IAS regularly participate in co-curricular activities including sports, youth forum,
debates, essay writing and project competitions throughout the year and won prizes. Recently
students of the BS Management program participated in the social entrepreneurship project
competition at the Forman Christian College University and won a trophy. Seminars,
professional development workshops, students grooming sessions, organizational visits,
welcome and farewell parties f or students are organized on regular basis. Moreover, to
enhance their job market a career fair and organization meet up day is also organized for
graduating students of the Institute. A national conference on Sales Management has been
organized in collaboration with The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) to
strengthen the University-Industry linkages. Formal MOUs have been signed with “Pehchan” a
local NGO working for Child-Youth Citizenship Behavior to inculcate civic and community sense
in the young students and with Business Support Fund (BSF), Ministry of Finance to showcase
research projects of IAS students as highlight activities undertaken at the Institute. All the
National Day celebrations including the Quiad-i-Azam day, Iqbal day, Eid Milad-ul-Nabi day are
made to pay tribute to the great leaders and refresh their teachings and services to the nation
and the humanity. In order to encourage and guide potential young students for competitive
examination a CSS Forum has been developed which organizes awareness and development
sessions throughout the year. These sessions are open to the students’ of other departments of
the Punjab University as well and organized bimonthly.

(NTU), Faisalabad, participated in the meeting held on 23.10.2012.

o The Chairman of the Department; participated in the 4th International Conference on Textile
and Clothing (ICTC 2013) on the theme of Sustainable Products on Textile Exports, jointly

o The Chairman of the Department; as member delivered a keynote lecture at the 1st Conference
on Emerging Materials and Processes (CEMP 2013) – NUST at Islamabad held on 22nd - 24th
August, 2013.
INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY

o Seniors faculty members are members of different committees formulated by HEC and PEC to
improve the curriculum and quality of education (accreditation).
o Faculty members are active members of different organizations which are trying to improve the
standards of education and research e.g. PEC and PIChE.
Student Leadership
o Students are encouraged to join various community and social organizations for developing
leadership qualities.
o Annually, programs been organized on the occasions of 12th Rabiul Awal, 14th August, Iqbal &
Quaid’s day. Students are encouraged to participate and deliver speech and take part in quizzes
to enhance their leadership skills.

The Annual Report of Directorate of Students Affairs from 01.10.2012 to 30.09.2013 submitted
according to format Chapter No. 11 (Students Leadership Co-curricular Activities). Punjab University
students participated in various Inter Varsity Competitions at national level in the categories of Urdu &
English Debates, Arts Competitions, Qiraat & Naat, Skit & Mime, etc. The selection of students was
purely on merit as directed by the Worthy Vice-Chancellor. The details of achievements are mentioned
in the table given below:-

Punjab University Teams won 23 TEAM TROPHIES at national level
Brief Summary of Competitions (Inter Departmental) and Programs organized by Directorate of
Students Affairs (STC) from 1st October, 2012 to 30th September, 2013 in the University:-
o The Directorate of Students Affairs organized the Qiraat Competition regarding Punjab Youth
Festival 2012 among the public/private sector universities of Lahore Division on 8-10-2013 at Al-
Raazi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate Studies.
o The Directorate of Students Affairs organized the Painting Competition regarding Punjab Youth
Festival 2012 among the public/private sector universities of Lahore Division on 9-10-2013 at
University College of Art & Design, Allama Iqbal Campus.

o The Directorate of Students Affairs organized the Photography Competition regarding Punjab
Youth Festival 2012 among the public/private sector universities of Lahore Division on
10.10.2013 at University College of Art & Design, Allama Iqbal Campus.
o The Directorate of Students Affairs (STC) organized an Inter Departmental Qiraat Competition in
the Holy month of Rabi-ul-Awal at Al-Raazi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate Studies on
07.02.2013 in which students of Thirty Five departments participated. The students securing
First, Second and Third positions were given cash prizes of Rs. 5,000/-, 3,000/-, and 2,000/-
respectively.
o Directorate of Students Affairs (STC) organized an Inter Departmental Naat Competition in the
Holy month of Rabi-ul-Awal at Al-Raazi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate Studies on 07-02-2013 in
which students of Forty departments participated. The students securing First, Second and Third
positions were given cash prizes of Rs. 5,000/-, 3,000/-, and 2,000/- respectively.
o Directorate of Students Affairs (STC) organized an Inter Departmental Seerat-un-Nabi (S.A.W.W.)
Quiz Competition in the Holy month of Rabi-ul-Awal at Al-Raazi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate
Studies on 12.02.2013 in which students of twenty five departments participated. The students
securing First, Second and Third positions were given cash prizes of Rs. 5,000/-, 3,000/-, and
2,000/- respectively.
o A program on the topic “ ” was organized regarding Seerat un Nabi
(S.A.W.W.) on 21-03-2013 at Faisal Auditorium. The Eminent Muslim Scholar Maulana Tariq
Jameel delivered his speech on the said topic for about two hours. Thousands of peoples were
present in and outside the Faisal Auditorium.
o Directorate of Students Affairs coordinated more than six thousand internees from Punjab
University regarding Punjab Youth Internship program 2012.
o About 4000 to 5000 students attended the opening and closing ceremony of Punjab Youth
Festival 2012-13. Students of Punjab University also participated in various categories for
Guinness Book of World Records during the Punjab Youth Festival.
o Teams of Punjab University students participated in different co-curricular competitions during
the Youth Festival and got more than 25 positions at divisional / provincial levels with prize
money of Rs.3,50,000/-
o On the direction of Vice-Chancellor, this office alongwith students actively participated in the
Chief Minister Awareness campaign against Dengue Fever. In this regard the banners were fixed
in the whole university and Anti Dengue walks were organized.
Visits (National/International)
o Excursion trip for the position holder students in different co-curricular competitions was
arranged from 23rd to 28th May, 2013 for Islamabad, Murree, Khanaspur and Ayubia. The
Worthy Vice-Chancellor was quite kind to provide 100% funds for this trip.

o Five students of Punjab University visited Japan from 08/06/2013 to 15/06/2013 under the
JENESYS 2.0 short term students exchange program under the patronage of Japan Embassy,
Islamabad. The following students were selected by the Directorate of Students Affairs to visit
Japan on the basis of their academic and co-curricular achievements. The Embassy of Japan,
Islamabad provided full support and guidance to the students:-

Admissions 2012-2013
o Directorate of Students Affairs published admission guide book 2013 to facilitate the candidates
seeking admission for academic year 2013. On the direction of worthy Vice-Chancellor about
15,000/- copies of admission guide book 2013 were distributed among the candidates seeking
admission, free of cost. The Director Press & Publication Mr. Amjad Pervez and his staff
facilitated in all aspects to publish the admission guide book 2013.
o The officers and staff of Directorate of Students Affairs were deputed on admission stalls to
provide necessary information about admission in Punjab University in the months of August
and September, 2013.
o Directorate of Students Affairs coordinated the Selection Committee for seats reserved on the
basis of Co-curricular Activities in M.A/M.Sc., BS (Hons.), D-Pharm and Engineering programs.
The students were recommended for admission against seats reserved for Qiraat, Naat, Quiz
and Urdu/English Debates, Acting, Singing etc. after trials by the selection committee.
Accommodation Facility provided by Directorate of Students Affairs at Student Teacher Centre
(STC)
o Accommodation is provided to the students and faculty members of universities and colleges
from all over the Pakistan and sometimes to foreign guests as well.
o Total accommodation facility at STC provided by Directorate of Students Affairs is as under:
Three Halls for male students
Eight Guest Rooms for faculty members and officials
o During the year 2012–2013, total 34 study tours (985 students + 78 faculty members) of
different Universities and Colleges of Pakistan availed the facility of accommodation in STC halls
and guest rooms.
o Total 210 guests (faculty members/officials) stayed in STC guest rooms who visited university in
private and official capacity.
