WE GATHER IN COMMUNITY AS GOD’S PEOPLECENTERING MOMENT

CALL TO WORSHIP:

One: Sometimes we make things more complicated than they need to be.All:   It doesn’t have to be that way. One: Often, when we make things more complicated than they need to be,          we lose things, important things, along the way. All:  It doesn’t have to be that way. There is a better way. One: Let us come together to find the purity, the simplicity in Your Way God.All:  There is a better way - Your Way God… The Way of Jesus.          Let us come together to better follow that Way.

+ OPENING HYMN: “Tis A Gift to Be Simple” #207 – sung twice

UNISON PRAYERGod of radical yet simple Love, it is indeed a gift to be simple. Too often the world makes things more complicated than they need to be. Too often, even our faith traditions take something pure and make it hard to understand. We ask for Your special presence here – to help us to simplify our lives. To help us focus on what is most important. To help us see more clearly The Way You lay out right in front of us. Then maybe, just maybe, if we actually do what You ask, if we follow The Way Jesus shows us, we will discover the things we’ve lost. Amen.

PASSING OF THE PEACE – (we bless each other)

CONCERNS AND PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER (using “trespasses”) (You are invited to hold hands as a symbol of the importance of being in community.)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil for

thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever, Amen!

HEARING GOD’S WORD
