Overview of content delivered:

Disruptive technologies typically demonstrate a rapid rate of change in capabilities in terms of

price/performance relative to substitutes and alternative approaches, or they experience

breakthroughs that drive accelerated rates of change or discontinuous capability improveme nts. Gene-

sequencing technology, for example, is advancing at a rate even faster than computer processing

power and could soon make possible inexpensive desktop sequencing machines. Advanced materials

technology is experiencing significant breakthroughs, from the first artific ia l production of graphene (a

nano-material with extraordinary properties including strength and conductivity) in 2004, to IBM’s

creation of the first graphene-based integrated circuit in 2011. Technologies that matter have the

potential to dramatically change the status quo. They can transform how people live and work, create

new opportunities or shift surplus for businesses, and drive growth or change comparative advantage

for nations. Next-generation genomics has the potential to transform how doctors diagnose and treat

cancer and other diseases, potentially extending lives. Energy storage technology could change how,

where, and when we use energy. Advanced oil and gas exploration and recovery could fuel economic

growth and shift value across energy markets and regions.

Each of these technologies has significant potential to drive economic growth and even change the

sources of comparative advantages among nations. Energy technologies such as unconventional

oil and gas and energy storage could power overall economic growth, while technologies such as

advanced robotics and 3D printing could foster increased productivity and growth in the

manufacturing sector. These types of impacts could help nations develop and exploit their unique

resources and capabilities in new ways, potentially shifting the global center of gravity across

sectors and regions. Many of these technologies pose new regulatory and legal challenges. Some,

such as autonomous vehicles, will require sensible regulatory regimes to help foster their growth

and realize their benefits. Next-generation genomics and the Internet of Things will need

appropriate controls to help avoid accidents or misuse. As these disruptive technologies continue

to evolve and play out, it will be up to business leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and citize ns

to maximize their opportunities while dealing with the challenges. Business leaders need to be on

the winning side of these changes. They can do that by being the early adopters or innovators or

by turning a disruptive threat into an opportunity. The first step is for leaders to invest in their own

technology knowledge.

Technologies such as advanced robots and knowledge work automation tools move

companies further to a future of leaner, more productive operations, but also far more

technologically advanced operations. The need for high- level technical skills will only grow, even

on the assembly line. Companies will need to find ways to get the workforce they need, by

engaging with policy makers and their communities to shape secondary and tertiary education and

by investing in talent development and training; the half-life of skills is shrinking, and companies

may need to get back into the training business to keep their corporate skills fresh.

Social media is hot. Social Media is now the trend. And for businesses it represents a marketing

opportunity that transcends the traditional middleman and connects companies directly with

customers. The explosion of social media phenomenon is as mind boggling as that and the pace at

which it is growing is maddening. Trust and goodwill are the basis of social networking, and by

marketing in the realm of social media these fundamental notions need to be adhered. It is probably

the only marketing platform that encourages fool proof communication and accountability among

sellers as well as consumers. Global companies have recognized Social Media Marketing as a

potential marketing platform, utilized them with innovations to power their advertising campaign

with social media marketing.

Social media is the medium to socialize. They use web-based technology to quickly disseminate

knowledge and information to a huge number of users. They allow creation and exchange of user-

generated content. Facebook, Twitter, Hi5, Orkut and other social networking sites are collective ly

referred social media

Social media marketing:

Social media marketing consists of the attempt to use social media to persuade consumers

that one's company, products and/or services are worthwhile. Social media marketing is marketing

using online communities, social networks, blog marketing and more.

Growth of social media marketing: Here’s a breakdown of what the small businesses reported as the main uses of social media marketing:

75% have a company page on a social networking site.

69% post status updates or articles of interest on social media sites.

57% build a network through a site such as LinkedIn.

54% monitor feedback about the business.

39% maintain a blog.

26% tweet about areas of expertise.

16% use Twitter as a service channel.

Benefits of social media marketing: Significantly different from conventional marketing

strategies, Social Media Marketing (SMM) offers three distinct advantages. One, it provides a

window to marketers to not only present products / services to customers but also to listen to

customers’ grievances and suggestions. Two, it makes it easy for marketers to identify various

peer groups or influencers among various groups, who in turn can become brand evangelist and

help in organic growth of a brand. And, three, all this is done at nearly zero cost (as compared to

conventional customer outreach programmes) as most of the social networking sites are free.

Social media marketing helps in:

Generating exposure to businesses.

Increasing traffic/subscribers.

Building new business partnerships.

Rise in search engine rankings.

Generating qualified leads due to better lead generation efforts.

Selling more products and services.

Reduction in overall marketing expenses.

Understanding the Relevance of Social Media in Marketing:

The role of social media in marketing is to use it as a communication tool that makes the companies

accessible to those interested in their product and makes them visible to those that don't know their

product. It should be used as a tool that creates a personality behind their brand and creates

relationships that they otherwise may never gain. This creates not only repeat-buyers, but customer

Why businesses need to consider social media marketing services?

Size: Facebook has over 250 million users globally. On an average, 70-100 tweets happen by the second. An average user on Facebook has 120 friends. This is the kind of enormity Social networking sites espouse and with this comes the license to communicate powerfully. But when

such large numbers are involved, there is a danger of something going wrong and when it does, it happens in a big way. An expert should be hired to do what is best for business.

Transparency: No cheat code involved. No black hat techniques allowed. Everything that happens in the social networking landscape is fool proof. Companies cannot fake authenticity in

an attempt to get more people involved. Members can choose to associate with the company or opt out. Opinions made on social networking platforms are taken seriously and the more authorita t ive

the companies get, more seriously they are taken.

• Reach: It is possible to make mark globally and do it quickly using social networking sites. • Boost website traffic: Social media is probably the fastest and easiest means of redirecting

traffic to company’s website. By simply placing their website URL in their profile, the company

can have all their profile visitors check out their website and a percentage of traffic is sure to get

converted in course of time. This is the virtual way version of “word-of mouth”.

• Branding: Buying a candy may have been impulsive all your life, but if it is discussed on a social networking site, there is likely to get brand conscious even a candy. Social media is a smart

way to build brands. Social media platforms are known to be one of the most powerful and fast

means of branding. Some of the big brands like Coke, Ford, Dell, IBM, Burger King are some of the well known brands have powerfully used social media platforms to endorse themselves.

Types of Social media:

Social networking (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+).

Microblogging (Twitter, Tumblr).

Photo sharing (Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest). Video sharing (YouTube, Facebook Live, Periscope, Vimeo).

Conclusion:

There is no escaping social media these days, either for individuals or for businesses. Today, it is

impossible to separate social media from the online world. Whether you are an individual, a

startup, small business or a large corporation, an online presence and an ongoing conversation with

your constituents is a baseline requirement -- and will take time and expertise. Companies are

diverting resources and rethinking their traditional outreach strategies. And as the social media

wave dissipates into the vast ocean of connected experiences, the term itself will become an entry

in dictionaries and encyclopedias and we will embark on a new era of knowledge, accessibilit y

and experiences unbound by distance, time or physical walls. It is high time that every business

adopts social media and takes it seriously!

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is the integrated management of core business processes,

often in real-time and mediated by software and technology.

ERP is usually referred to as a category of business-management software — typically a suite of

integrated applications—that an organization can use to collect, store, manage, and interpret data

from these many business activities.

ERP provides an integrated and continuously updated view of core business processes using

common databases maintained by a database management system. ERP systems track business

resources—cash, raw materials, production capacity—and the status of business commitme nts:

orders, purchase orders, and payroll. The applications that make up the system share data across

various departments (manufacturing, purchasing, sales, accounting, etc.) that provide the data.

ERP facilitates information flow between all business functions and manages connections to

outside stakeholders.

Enterprise system software is a multibillion-dollar industry that produces components supporting

a variety of business functions. IT investments have become the largest category of capital

expenditure in United States-based businesses over the past decade. Though early ERP systems

focused on large enterprises, smaller enterprises increasingly use ERP systems.

The ERP system integrates varied organizational systems and facilitates error-free transactions and

production, thereby enhancing the organization's efficiency. However, developing an ERP system

differs from traditional system development. ERP systems run on a variety of computer

hardware and network configurations, typically using a database as an information repository.
