Intro to Evergreen Indiana
• Project launched in December 2007– Goal is Resource Sharing
• Hardware, software, patron and MARC records
• Executive Committee elected August 2008– Consortium parameters set
• Lending periods and limits
• Fines and fees
• One library card
• First library went live: August 2008
Evergreen Indiana at 100
• 102 libraries (100 public libraries) across the state of Indiana.
• 13 non-automated libraries
• Current service population: 981,000
• 3 million bibliographic records
• 6.3 million items
• Hundreds of thousands of items transit each year
• Opportunity to use Unique Management, Inc. and OverDrive
Patron-driven holds!

Digital literacy• Staff receive training on using Evergreen
– Basic circulation, basic cataloging (copy cataloging), holds and searching (New!), admin/reports
– Powerpoints, demos, trainer scripts, attendee exercises and cheat sheets
– Training server
– Webinars offered bi-annually
• Staff train patrons on using software features
Info Literacy
• Find, retrieve, analyze and use information
• Staff are given the tools to answer questions– Training documents, policies and procedures
– Listserv and webinars
• Translating rules into patron language

Leadership skills
Staff can join a consortium committee to develop their leadership skills and effect policy.
Provides an opportunity for staff to get together on a regular basis and swap stories.
