• The task we were set with was to show continuity in a short

movie clip.

• The first technique we had to incorporate was: match on action,

rule of thirds and 180 degree rule. Davinder had to walk down

the coridoor and then into a room.

Match on Action:

• The second technique we had to use was the 180 degree rule.

• As you can see the 180 degree rule shown above, Davinder

always stays on the left, wherever the camera moves.

• The third technique we had to use was rule of thirds.

• As you can see, we tried to use the rule of thirds where we

could, but it was hard to do it all the time.

Problems during Production

• The main we faced was trying get Aran’s great idea and

use it in the movie. Also when we were shooting,

Davinder was struggling with one of the lines, so we had

to switch characters and shoot it from the beginning with

our different characters. Also we were trying to get

through the filming as soon as possible, so we didn’t

have to spend even more time on it. So it was like an

amateur movie.

Post-Production Problems

• During editing, we had to make sure all the different

shots on our script were in the movie and that they

all flow together, without any gaps. Also this was my

very first time editing on iMovie, so I was struggling

in my first session of editing, with the trimming of

the shots.

My Overall Strengths

• When I got used to iMovie and all the tools, I think

my editing was great. I had great sound effects,

which made a great atmosphere in the film. The song

on my credits (My life be like oo-ah by grits), I

thought was great, and I was one of the first people

to do this, because Aran and Cameron, asked me

how to add it in. So I thought my editing was great,

and I was pleased with my finished product.

My Overall Weaknesses

• I thought my weaknesses were mainly in shooting,

because first of all, we had to switch characters while

shooting, which wasted time. Then we wanted to

finish our shooting quickly, so we rushed it. Also

while editing, I thought we didn’t have enough shots,

so I had to work with them, because we did not have

enough time. Also I think I could have trimmed the

shots better, because sometimes you can hear Aran’s

voice saying “action”.

Improvements

• The first improvement I could have made was in

editing, when I could have trimmed the shots better.

Also during filming, when I kept laughing, which

wasted our time and resulted in fewer shots for

editing. Next time I will be allot serious, and another

improvement is to make sure that we know our lines,

so that we don’t waffle. In addition to that, I think I

could have improved my editing a tad, and use more

sound effects where needed.
