Evaluating your ePortfolio

All students should evaluate their own ePortfolio before they share it with faculty, advisors, employers,

graduate schools, friends, and family. Below are some basic traits of good portfolios.

• Appearance is clear and organized.

• All links to documents and websites work and display appropriately.

• Font size and color is readable.

• Spelling and grammar are correct.

• Copyright laws are respected.

• A resume (either generated through the site or one that is uploaded) is included.

• Breadth and depth of knowledge, courses and experiences are displayed and reflected upon

(relative to the number of credits a student has completed).

• There is an obvious purpose to the portfolio.

• Both short-term and long-term goals are indicated.

• Personal growth in learning outcomes (a career path, communication and networking skills,

creative thinking and expression, critical and analytical thinking, ethics and social responsibility,

integration and application of knowledge, intercultural knowledge and global awareness,

leadership, technology and computer skills) is exhibited through uploaded documents and

reflection.

• Reflective writing is included that compliments uploaded documents and/or stands alone to

communicate and share knowledge, skills, beliefs, values, and insight.

• The portfolio gives the viewer an opportunity to understand who you are, what is important to

you, the skills and qualities you possess, and what makes you unique.
