With her acoustic Jazz-project Annitschka the singer Anna-maria nitschke invites you on a lyrical journey to the place everything revolves around; Home. Annitschka stands for playful-ness, for shelter and yearning. It is the attempt, to home in on the qualities of life against the un-romance of a fast world - the idyll within urbanity. And so Anna-maria spins her home stories around childhood memories, homesickness, being torn between places and options, loss and gain, doubt

and surrender, heading for today’s ease. she is a discreet storyteller with a feel-ing for nuances and a shining sensual voice that touches. Annitschka’s music succeeds in the symbiosis between gracefulness and groove, between catchiness and the modern colors of Jazz. not ashamed to show influences of singer songwriter aesthetics and classical clarity. Always carried by her experienced and empathetic trio, Anna-maria can move jauntily and trust-fully, creating a space where warmth

becomes audible and her stories find a home. In the Korean pianist Jinhee Hong she finds a mindful companion who through her narrative accompani-ment and soloing gives a melancholic touch to the compositions. not least through the balanced bass playing of Inseop song (Korea) and the smooth drumming of Andreas Klein (Germany), the band gains subtle elegance.

eran Har even, etai Waisman and dennis sekretarev have played together for the past for years on numerous occasions and in different setups. the dennis sekretarev Quartet is a newly formed band that focuses on their own compositions that mirror today’s Zeitgeist of our surrounding world and a collective ensemble awareness that leads the music every time to new ways of artistic

expression. the music takes you on a journey to the past, present and future of this great art form that we call Jazz. the most recent works include compositions by all three composers that were inspired by Paul Gaugain´s paintings collection named “the Volpini suite”. the dennis sekretarev Quartet has performed in venues such as the Amsterdam Blue note, Bimhuis,

de Badcuyp and the Idstein Jazz Festival.

A Collaboration of two Israeli musi-cians at the Amsterdam conservatory brought up a new upcoming band in from of a Quartet. etay & eran met in Amsterdam 2007, and since their first day in the C.V.A they are working together in different projects.on their third year of study they both participated in an exchange program between the CvA and temple university Philadelphia. this unique experience brought them back to the essence of swing based music

and gave them the idea to form a band and write original music with a concept of bringing back the sound of old school jazz with new arrange-ments that meet today’s jazz sound. While studying in the united states they both played concerts with artists like: Benny Golson, terell stafford, Bruce Barth and sid simmons, and also had the privilege to study with today’s performing artists like dick oatts ,John swana ,Ben schachter and Gerry smullian.

today the Waisman/Har-even Quartet is working on its first debut album together with drummer roald Becher and bassist timothy roth hopefully to come out in the fall of 2010.

deko motion is a brand new musical formation consisting of 4 talented musicians. the band was created in early 2010. From the very begin-ning the band’s play was evident with great musical chemistry and dynamic interplay that led to the idea to continue this project andbring it into the next musical level and challenges. Kaspars Kurdeko who is the band leader, drummer and composer admits that the idea of

band is to develop original composi-tions that delve into the jazz idiom and as well as more experimental try-outs and attest to its quest for sounds and forms of improvisation which are worth paying attention to.their music is full with sensitive interplay and diverse grooves that suggest strong melodies and yet “painting” qualities as with the band’s texture of music and the way in which it is layered. the quartet

is planning to record an album this summer to be followed up with a tour in europe.

Gary Willis is an Ameri-can bassist and com-poser known foremost as the co-founder (with Scott Henderson) of the jazz fu-sion band Tribal Tech.Aside from his work in Tribal Tech, Willis has worked with numerous other jazz musicians including Wayne Shorter, Dennis Cham-bers, and Allan Holdsworth. Willis’s latest project, Triphasic, got its start in 2008 and saw the release of “Shaman” later in the

year. His latest explorations have been fo-

cused on bring-ing a syncronized

video experience to the trio’s live perfor-

mances. This new development finds Willis occupying the VJ con-trols at the same time navigating the electronic sequences that the band improvises to. In 2007, Gary Willis relaunched his solo and bandleader ca-

reer with the release of “Actual Fiction” and the avant-jam-trio “Slaughterhouse 3”. Early reviews of “Actual Fiction” describe that it’s “everything you’ve ever liked about his work with Tribal Tech and leaps forward a few light years. Willis’s solo career also includes No Sweat from 1996 and Bent in 1998. Willis is the author of four books for bass guitar.

In trondheim in 2008 the four musi-cians espen, Arne, dan Peter and tomas found that they had a number of common musical references that they wanted to explore. they wanted form a band with a focus on complex yet concert-friendly jazz music. A band that played music as they wanted to hear it live! to play music, and to explore improvisation in a community, the band esP was formed. the band’s music is inspired by both electric and acoustic jazz. As

sources of inspiration may, among others, Allan Holdsworth, dave lieb-man, Wayne shorter and tim Berne be mentioned.

Forge is a newly formed quartet from london with Josh Arcoleo on tenor sax, Alex munk on Guitar, tom West on Bass and dave Hamblett on drums. Hard to pigeonhole stylistically, the dynamic, progressive, intelligent and through-composed music of majestic 12 is probably more akin to european improvisational music than to that of blues-based American jazz. Pleas-antly devoid of hyperbole rock ‘n’ roll stage antics, majestic 12 neverthe-less manages to present an unusu-ally high level of raw aggressive energy and sophisticated dynamic interplay, providing a valid sugges-

tion of what the term “contemporary jazz” might sound like in 2010!

Conducted by Benjamin dousteys-sier, the band is born at the Paris conservatory in 2009.this four musicians experiment the connections between contemporary music process and the living inten-sity of improvisation in Jazz. With these two influences, the music of the band takes root in what we call the “europeanfree jazz identity”. the music is written to create more spaces of spontaneous reactions, a kind of

interactive communication between the musicians. so, anytime, each member can impulse a new direction to the improvisation.
