About ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in
1.1 Overview
ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is plug-in software used to extend the user interface for VMware vSphere Client andto display various information of Fujitsu ETERNUS Disk storage systems onto vSphere Client. Application of thisproduct facilitates visualization of information on the storage systems and allows the VMware administratorsto grasp physical and virtual mapping related to virtual machines, datastores and host systems, whichenables integrated management of the infrastructure of virtual environment. The information that was ableto be displayed only with ETERNUS Web GUI can now also be viewed from vSphere Client, which will improveconvenience.
1.2 Functions
Selecting a VMware object from the inventory tree of vSphere Client adds the [FUJITSU ETERNUS DX] tab to thetab list. Selecting this tab enables the information of the ETERNUS Disk storage system to be displayed onvSphere Client.

Chapter 1 About ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in 1.3 Operation
1.3 Operation
ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in supports the two types of configurations as shown below. Use ETERNUS vCenterPlug-in in either configuration according to the environment.
• Web server configuration (Installing ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in to a Windows Server prepared as a Web server)
• vCenter configuration (Installing ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in to a Windows Server where vCenter Server is installed)
1.3.1 Web Server Configuration
• As a Web server, prepare a Windows Server where Windows Server 2008 R2 is installed.• Install TOMCAT in the above server as a Web service. TOMCAT must be installed in addition to ETERNUS
vCenter Plug-in.• Install ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in in the dedicated server (Web server). During the installation process,
register the vCenter Server in ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in.• Apply this configuration when vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) is used as a vCenter Server.
■ Advantages
vCSA can be used. A dedicated server for ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is used, causing no load on the vCenterServer operation.
■ Disadvantages
A server must be separately prepared for ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in. It is necessary to install TOMCAT inaddition to ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in, which requires more setup steps.

Chapter 1 About ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in 1.3 Operation
1.3.2 vCenter Configuration
• Install ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in in a Windows Server where vCenter Server is installed.• If there are multiple vCenter Servers, install ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in in all vCenter Servers.• During the installation process of ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in, register the vCenter Server in ETERNUS vCenter
Plug-in. Logging in to the vCenter Server where ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is registered can extend the user interface for vSphere Client.
• This configuration is not supported when vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) is used as a vCenter Server.
■ Advantages
ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is installed in an existing vCenter Server, requiring no servers to be preparedseparately for ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in. In addition, installation is easier than in a Web server configuration.
■ Disadvantages
ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in acquires the latest information from the ETERNUS Disk storage system and vCenterServers at intervals of 30 minutes. Thus, the more ETERNUS Disk storage systems are managed by ETERNUSvCenter Plug-in, the heavier load the vCenter Server has. Also note that even though using ETERNUS vCenterPlug-in has no effect on operation, a security warning message is displayed. For details, refer to the cautiondescribed in "2.3.3 Installing Security Certificate" (page 25).

Chapter 2 Installation and Initial Setup 2.1 Preparation Required Before New Installation
Procedure
1 Prepare the SSL server certificate. When using a self-signed certificate, execute the "keytool" command to create a self-signed certificate. The "keytool" command is stored under "Java installation folder\bin". Open the command prompt andexecute the "keytool" command as follows. For the "cn" parameter, specify the FQDN or IP address of theWindows server in which ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is installed. After execution of the "keytool"command is complete, confirm that the ".keystore" file is created under the current folder.
2 Enable the SSL setting of "server.xml" file for TOMCAT. The "server.xml" file is stored under "TOMCAT installation folder\conf". Open the "server.xml" file with aneditor and uncomment the following "Connect" tags if the "Connect" tags are commented out as shownbelow. After the tags are uncommented, set the path of the SSL server certificate or the self-signedcertificate that was created in Step 1 in the keystoreFile.
After the "server.xml" file is edited, restart the TOMCAT service.
3 Configure the firewall of the Windows server to which ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is to be installed to allow connection to the port that was specified as the port for the "server.xml" file in Step 2.
End of procedure

Uninstallation
To uninstall ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in, perform the following procedure. If the [User Account Control] screenappears during the uninstallation process, select [Allow] to continue the process.
• In the uninstallation process, the vCenter Server is accessed to unregister ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in from it. Therefore, uninstallation must be performed while the managed vCenter Server is connected to the network. If network connection has a problem, uninstallation is complete but unregistration from the vCenter Server may fail.If unregistration fails, the Plug-in Manager of vSphere Client displays a message stating that download of ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in failed. However, this will not affect the operations of vSphere Client and vCenter Server.
• If TOMCAT is running during uninstallation of ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in, the following message appears. Perform the following actions, and continue the uninstallation process.

A.2 The Initial Setup During Installation was Skipped
Follow the procedures described in "A.1 The Initial Setup During Installation Failed" (page 64).
A.3 The [FUJITSU ETERNUS DX] Tab is not Displayed
Start the Plug-in Manager of vSphere Client and check the status of ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in.When the [FUJITSU ETERNUS DX] tab is not displayed, download of the script plug-in may have failed as shownin the screen below.
Possible main causes are as follows:
• TOMCAT has not started.• SSL for TOMCAT is improperly set.• Name resolution is unavailable.

Appendix A Frequent Inquiry Solutions A.4 The Initial Setup During Upgrade Installation Failed
Perform the following procedure:
Procedure
1 Perform the following steps for each item:• TOMCAT has not started.
Check whether TOMCAT has started on the server where ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is installed. If not, start TOMCAT.
• SSL for TOMCAT is improperly set.In a Web server configuration, check whether SSL settings for TOMCAT has completed on the serverwhere ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is installed.Major operations include enabling the SSL connector for TOMCAT, creating a key and editingserver.xml, and changing the firewall settings for the SSL port number.
• Name resolution is unavailable.FQDN of the server where ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is installed may not be resolved from theterminal where vSphere Client is started. In an environment where name resolution is unavailable, perform the operations by referring to "8.3 Changing Settings for Windows Server Where ETERNUSvCenter Plug-in is Installed" (page 57).For the argument for the "evcpConfig -p" command, specify the IP address, not the FQDN.
2 Start Plug-in Manager of vSphere Client and ensure that ETERNUS vCenter Plug-in is displayed in the [Installed Plug-ins] list and that the status is "Enabled".
End of procedure
A.4 The Initial Setup During Upgrade Installation Failed
Perform the following procedure to configure the initial setup:
Procedure
