Word Oder Word Order คือ การเรียงลำดับคำ (ก่อน – หลัง) ในประโยค เช่น ประธานต้องอยู่หน้าคำกริยาในประโยคบอกเล่า หรือ คำคุณศัพท์ต้องวางไว้หน้าคำนาม เป็นต้น

• นักเรียนสามารถเรียงลำดับคำก่อน-หลังในประโยคได้ถูกต้อง

1. วางคำคุณศัพท์ไว้หน้าคำนาม (adjective + noun) George is a good friend.

She is an amazing artist.

Jennifer is my intelligent student. adj. n.

2. วางกริยาวิเศษณ์ไว้หน้าคำคุณศัพท ์(adverb + adjective)

Our teacher is really strict.

adv. adj. Some people is very mean. 3. วางกริยาวิเศษณ์ไว้หน้าคำกริยา (adverb + verb)

You finally did it! adv. v. I completely forgot!

4. วางกริยาวิเศษณ์ไว้หลังกริยา (verb + adverb)

My father drives slowly. v. adv. You did it finally! He drives slowly.

5. วางคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ไว้หน้าคำกริยาวิเศษณ ์(adverb + adverb)

He is speaking very clearly. My girlfriend is singing really sweetly.

adv. adv. ข้อควรจำ: Word Order ของ Noun Phrase (นามวลี) ซึ่งจะปรากฏในข้อสอบบ่อยมาก

Article หรือ Determiner + Adverb + Adjective + Noun

เช่น A really handsome man is playing football.

The extremely hot day yesterday.

My very old dog is sleeping under my green bed.

His incredibly weird shirt is black.

ข้อควรระวัง : Word Order ในรูปคำถาม Wh- question มักตามด้วยกริยาช่วย หรือ กริยา

เช่น Where are you going?

What are you doing?

How have you been doing?

What made you cry?

Where do you come from?

แต่ถ้า Word order เป็น Noun Clause หลัง Wh- question มักตามด้วย ประโยค (ประธาน + กริยา) ซึ่งโครงสร้างนี้มักทำหน้าที่เป็นประธาน หรือ เป็น กรรม ในประโยค

เช่น I don’t know where he lives. ไม่ใช ่where does he live?

Do you know when the competition begins? What he said was confusing.

I don’t understand why she loves me.

ทั้งนี้ รวมถึง relative pronoun ที่มี preposition

เช่น The house where he lives

เมื่อเปลี่ยนจาก where เป็น which ต้องมีบุพบท in วางไว้ข้างหน้าเสมอ

เช่น The house in which he lives is so big.

ไม่ใช ่The house which in he lives is so big.

***นอกจากนี้ยังต้องระวังเป็นพิเศษเรื่อง Word Order ที่มาในรูปของ Inversion เช่น

Not only is she rich but she is also beautiful and friendly.

เมื่อเป็นคำปฏิเสธขึ้นหน้าประโยค นิยมเอากริยาช่วยมาวางไว้หน้าประธานของประโยคเสมอ
