This policy confirms our approach to ensuring Lafarge Tarmac’s environmental performance continually improves and delivers the objectives and targets set out in our Sustainability Strategy. To support our vision we will ensure that: We implement a robust certified environmental management system, appropriate to our activities, to manage risks and support opportunities. Our senior management team demonstrate leadership of the management system, its implementation and use within the business. Line management have a responsibility to ensure implementation and compliance at a local level. We understand the issues that are material to our business, identify areas for protection or improvement and ensure we prevent pollution. We understand and meet our compliance obligations, including relevant industry codes of practice. We set ambitious environmental objectives and targets using information gathered through understanding our aspects and monitoring our environmental performance. We use biodiversity management plans, active environmental stewardship and site restoration to deliver our commitment to a net positive contribution to biodiversity. We meet society’s demands for our products, services and solutions in a responsible way, by helping to tackle climate change, reducing carbon emissions, using resources efficiently and designing out waste. We extend the life of our products through enhancing their durability, designing them for re-use and facilitating their recycling into new innovative solutions. We promote the adoption of responsible environmental principles amongst our customers, suppliers and contractors. We improve our environmental performance by leading via proactive involvement with local communities, regulators and trade associations We provide appropriate resources for the learning and development of our employees, ensuring that they understand their role / responsibilities and their contribution to protecting and enhancing the environment. This policy is communicated to all Lafarge Tarmac employees and those working on our behalf. It is also available for other interested parties on our website. Every employee is expected to work in accordance with the commitments set out in this policy. The policy will be reviewed as a minimum annually.
