INTRODUCTION

• One of the biggest issues the world facing today.• Attributed directly or indirectly to human activity.• Natural climate variability observed over comparable

time periods

THE CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Page 4: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

Was cause by natural causes

Volcanic eruptions

-Contributing sulphur dioxide (SO2), water vapour, dust, and ash into the atmosphere.

Ocean current

-Move vast amounts of heat across the planet

Page 5: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

The earth’s orbital changes

-The earth orbital Changes in the tilt of the earth can lead to small but climatically important changes in the strength of the seasons, more tilt means warmer summers and colder winters.

Solar variations

-Sun is the source of energy for the Earth’s climate system. Although the Sun’s energy output appears constant from an everyday point of view, small changes over an extended period of time can lead to climate changes.

Page 6: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

Human activities-The temperature of the earth increase immensely

because of human activities.

-Industries created jobs and over the years, people moved from rural areas to the cities.

THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Page 8: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

The rising of the level of seas-warmer water takes up more room than colder

water.- Melting glaciers - Sea level rise associated with climate change

could displace tens of millions of people in low-lying areas – especially in developing countries.

Page 9: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

The increasing of temperature-Heat-trapping gases emitted by power plants,

automobiles, deforestation and other sources are warming up the planet

WAY TO CONTROL THE CLIMATE CHANGE

Page 11: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

ENVIRONMENT

• Recycle • Reduce waste• Reuse your shopping bag

Page 12: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

TRANSPORT

• Don't let your car warm up while stationary• Try washing your car by hand or using a pressurized

water jet• Use air conditioning sparingly

CONCLUSION

Page 14: ENVIRONMENT ISSUES ppt

• To avoid the worst predicted impacts of climate change institutions and individuals must act now

• Strong near-term action to reduce emissions is required in order to alter the future path of human-induced warming.

• Action is also needed to begin to adapt to the warming that is already occurring and will continue.

“ We must start today to save tomorrow.”
