Success is the program – The curricula of Siemens Power Academy TD

> 1 year
Professional experience
To support you in this, Siemens Power Academy TD has developed its own competence development program. This program will allow you to perma-nently expand your knowledge and build up your expertise. Our program is based on the curriculum concept.
In contrast to individual training sessions, each curriculum contains a structured, logical combination of several courses on one specific topic. This allows the necessary skills and abilities to be devel-oped.
Every curriculum includes three levels: Associate, Advanced, and Expert (see graphic). Each level includes a combina-tion of courses that build on each other. Knowledge is tested at the end of each level to validate successful learning.
Efficiently gaining knowledge
Well-trained employees are vital for successful companies. The challenge comes from increasingly rapid transformation of the economic environment and technologies. Faced with changes like this, continuously improvement of skills and knowledge is essential if you are to be a reliable resource who contributes to the success of the company.
The advantages for you:Continuous, structured acquisition ■
of learning and experience has been shown to improve the quality of work and reduce error rates. This in turn increases effectiveness and saves money.Testing of the knowledge you have ■
acquired increases your awareness of what you have learned and shows how you have improved.
Regular certification makes it possible ■
to retain the valuable knowledge you have acquired and to remain at the same high level as technologies develop.Certification/evidence of what you ■
have learnedEmployers fulfill ISO Standard 9001 ■
because the acquisition of knowledge by their employees can be traced, demonstrated, and documented.
You also benefit from the price: Register for all required courses and the associated e-tests for one level at the same time and you will receive a 70 percent discount on the associated e-tests.
Qualification levels
Associate level
Advanced level
Expert level
Objectives:The participant can perform specific technical tasks under supervision as part of his/her professional routine.
Objectives:The participant can independently perform technical tasks as part of his/her professional routine and can develop the necessary solutions on his/her own.
Objectives:The participant can independently perform complex technical tasks and is able to communicate solutions to third parties for implementation.
Qualification levelsAssociate: Participants acquire funda-mental knowledge about the selected curriculum topic which can then be used to further structure their professional experience. Associates are able to com-plete specific tasks under supervision as part of their professional routine.Advanced: This level builds on Associates’ knowledge and professional experience. Participants can use what they learned in the Advanced level to independently perform tasks as part of their professional routine and to develop the necessary solutions themselves.Expert: To achieve this level, participants must already have used knowledge gained from the Advanced level as part of their day-to-day work. They can inde-pendently perform complex tasks based on their comprehensive professional experience and the additional knowledge that they acquired during the Expert level. They are also able to communicate complex relationships and solutions for implementation by third parties.
Validation of qualificationsQualifications are validated by one theo-retical test for each course. In addition, before entering the Advanced and Expert levels, participants must demonstrate successful completion of the previous level. Practical experience must also be documented.
Practical experience for the Advanced level:Participants must show a minimum of two years of project experience in a position that is at least equal to a project employee.
Practical experience for the Expert level:Participants must show a minimum of one year of project experience in a position that is at least equal to a subproject manager.
Acceptable documentation of practical experience includes factory acceptance tests (FAT’s), site acceptance tests (SAT’s), or other similar acceptance tests signed by the final customer which show in writing that the person requesting certification held an appropriate position while partici-pating in the project.
The Siemens Power Academy TD curriculum concept at a glance
The testParticipants may take the Web-based theoretical test after completion of coursework. Participants must register for the test and take it within four weeks. The test may be suspended and later resumed during that time. Participants should plan on spending two to three hours on each test. The test may be repeated no more than two times if the first attempt is unsuccessful.
RecertificationCertification is valid for five years. Certification may be renewed by taking the appropriate theoretical tests or, if the technology has changed, by taking modified or new courses.
Additional certificationThe Power Academy also offers “Certification according to Commission Regulation 305/2008 (EC) approved by the United Kingdom Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and independently recognized by EUSR” for SF6 gas handling; see “Certification according to Commission Regulations.”
How to earn a certificate
The supervisor and the employee review the employee’s current level of knowledge and compare ■
it with the requirements. Siemens Power Academy TD is happy to assist with this.Determination of curriculum and qualification level. ■
Register for the training sessions you have chosen at ■ www.siemens.com/energy/power-academy-td or by e-mail at [email protected] participant takes all required courses as a minimum. ■
The employee registers for and completes all required e-tests (ten multiple-choice questions per day per course) ■
for the chosen level from the individual curriculum. After passing the e-test (at least 60 percent of answers are correct), ■
the employee prints out the confirmation of participation. Each test can be repeated two times if the first attempt is unsuccessful. ■
If the employee fails to pass the third test: ■
➜ Repeat the training or register for a lower qualification level.
The employee or supervisor submits all of the required documents to Power Academy TD: ■
– Proof of qualification (confirmation of having passed the tests)– Documentation of the required experience (see paragraph on “Validation of qualifications” on page 4)
and job-based CV
Power Academy TD reviews the documents. ■
If all criteria are fulfilled: ■
➜ Certificate is issued (valid for five years) by Power Academy TD.If all criteria have not been fulfilled, the certificate is not issued. ■
There is generally a lack of experience in such cases. ➜ Additional experience will be necessary (further training and tests are not necessary over the next five years).
