„Cocon Q“

Valve for hydronic balancing and regulation

of heating and cooling systems

Main features:

1. Combination of automatic regulator and regulating valve

2. Constant, high valve authority

3. Adjustment / Control of the presetting with mounted actuator possible

4. Direct reading of presetting in l/h or m³/h

5. Good optical display of the presetting

6. Presetting is lead lockable

7. Pump setting optimization

8. Small dimensions, especially “Cocon QTZ”

9. Complete flow and size range

10. Multiple control options

11. For chilled ceiling, fan coil unit, air handling unit, convector, one-pipe-system, surface heating and cooling etc.

“p1” is the inlet and “p3” the outlet pressure of the valve.

“p2” is the pressure actuating the diaphragm unit and maintaining the differential pressure “p2” – “p3” at a constant level.

Hydronic BalancingValve Authority

P1 P2

Valve Authority, a =P1

P1 + P2

Ideal is a valve authority of a = 1

Page 7: Engineered Solutions for Engineered Buildings

Hydronic BalancingConstant and high valve authority “Cocon Q”

„p2 – p3“ is kept constant, even where high differential pressure variations („p1“ – „p3“) occur during part load conditions

Therefore, the valve authority of theregulating valve „Cocon Q“ amount to 100% (a = 1)

Hydronic Balancing

1. Check the min. differential pressure in the manual, depending on the presetting

Pump setting optimizatione.g. for the Cocon QTZ

2. Check the differential pressure of the “Cocon Q” with the “OV-DMC2”

3. Adjust the pump setting. Thus the last “Cocon QTZ” hasa bit more (e.g. 5%) than the min. differential pressure.

Save Energy due tooptimum setting!
