Meet the Speakers:Dr. Anthony Paustian, Ph.D., is provost at DMACC’s West Cam-

pus in West Des Moines where he created a technology-focused

campus from scratch. His work has appeared on CNN, CNBC, USA

Today and NPR and has received a variety of national awards. He

is an Air Force veteran and author of Beware the Purple People

Eaters: A Focus on Leadership.

Justin Schoen is president and founder of eComegy in Des

Moines, a web technologies company that provides businesses

with strategies to drive sales. He has served as a consultant

and mentor to numerous small businesses, entrepreneurs and

students, and regularly speaks to groups about online marketing

strategies.

Jill Haverkamp is owner of On Pitch in Des Moines, a marketing

agency that provides businesses with ideas, strategies and plans

to build awareness and create exposure. She has extensive experi-

ence in media relations, social media, online marketing, content

and marketing plan development.

Candace Peters, MA, CADC, provides training and consultation

for the Organizational Eff ectiveness Unit at the University of Iowa.

She has delivered numerous presentations on professional growth,

communication, team building and cross-generational leadership,

and is the author of three manuals on motivational interviewing.

8 - 10 a.m. Beware the Purple People Eaters: A Focus on Personal

Leadership – Dr. Anthony Paustian, Ph.D.

This session will focus on a variety of elements to help attendees

improve leadership skills and learn how to directly create proactive,

desired change. Topics will include creativity, imagination, overcom-

ing obstacles, eff ective use of time, focus and personal behavior. It

will feature interactive presentations to enhance participation.

Communication – Candace Peters, MA, CADC

Have you ever wondered why “they” don’t understand? There are

four generations currently in our workplace, and each assumes

that the following generation will have the same values and be

motivated by the same things. This session will introduce the four

generations, help develop an understanding of the diff erences and

similarities, and will establish an appreciation for cross-generational

strengths in leadership.

The conference will conclude with a networking reception and

happy hour, where attendees can make new connections and build

long-lasting business relationships.
