BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ELECTRONICS & COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGYThe Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology program at Sam Houston State University is designed to prepare you for application-oriented careers in a variety of engineering fields. An emphasis is placed on the application of engineering knowledge and methods to develop solutions to technical problems found in modern industry. We offer a series of courses designed to prepare graduates for certifications in the various fields involving computers and information technology. You will become familiar with circuit design, simulation, troubleshooting of electronic systems, microcontroller applications, programming, automation, control, and robotics.

Our cutting-edge laboratories provide you with hands-on experience in design, prototyping, electronics, safety, electrical and renewable energy, and networking.

Our graduates have played a part in scientific advancements in a variety of industries, including biomedical, green energy, transportation, communications, entertainment, and manufacturing.

REQUIREMENTSStudents must complete a curriculum comprised of courses in Electronics and Computer Science.

Minor: A minor is not required for this degree program. If desired, students should choose a minor that best suits their needs and interests. Engineering Technology students typically choose minors from program areas within the department, though some will select options from other colleges.

INTERNSHIPSInternships may be arranged through student contact with providers or through departmental faculty and staff announcements and postings. All internships must receive departmental approval through application prior to the initiation of the internship. Maximum credit for an internship is six credit hours.

SCHOLARSHIPSOnce accepted, students may apply for relevant scholarships by completing the Scholarships4Kats online application. Transfer scholarships are available for students who would like to continue their academic career at Sam Houston.
