Quartzite - uniform and grey (no pebbles)-banding 80O to C. A. and marked by somewhat darker layers 1/16" to \wide - blocky at 1455'; 1485 - I486 1 ; 1515 - 1516'- tiny fractures at 35O to C. A. and 65O to C. A. - filled with carborquartz- rock is dark grey and distinctly banded from 1528.5 - 1533 -at 800 to C . A.

Quartzite - generally massive bedding to rare bedding with colour variance throughout section.- 1667 - 1682 - whitish quartzite with yellowish tinge - rare bedding at 80O to 80O to C.A.

1682* - 1697' brov/nish-yellow qxiartzite with some slight greenish tinges in places - generally composed of quartz with some feldspar grains and^ weathered feldspar grains yielding a pitted weathered surface in places.- fractures parallel to sub-parallel to C.A.- radioactivity in background range

Regolith — possible granite soil on basement surface - brecciaappearance .

-1835 - 1843.5' - breccia - coarse to medium granitic fragments setin a greenstone-like mass matrix (dark green to black) - minorchlorite along fracture surfaces.- 1835 - 1835.5' - broken

-1843.5-1860 - microbreccia-small granitic, quartz and feldsparfragments set in a highly chloritic dark green to black, greenstone-like matrix. Small white to cream calcite cubes are scattered withithe section as well. Some lengths of fine grained matrix predorninattoward base.

-1850.5 - broken slightly

-1852 - band of coarse broken pink feldspathic material- angles of 50O with C. A.- radioactivity in background range-1858 - 1860 - sandstone to quartzitic fragments with small whitefeldspat fragments set in matrix.

1860 - 1878 - breccia - ir.terbcddcd arkose lenses - granitic fragmerof various sizes in a dark green to black, fine grained, greenstone-like matrix. Matrix phases out with depth, !-5inor chlorite alongfracture surfaces. Some granitic fragments approaching arkose incomposition - dity brown rather than pink -fragments up to 10" -some disseminated sulphides scattered throughout - foliation notvery distinct but averages 65O at 1870'

-1871 - 1861.5 - short section of micro-breccia - dark grey -generally fine to medium grained approaches sub-greywacke in places-1863.5 - some disseminated sulj^hidcs (chiefly py, possibly traceof Cp, no Po) up to l * - 2 ^^.- radioactivity in background range-- 1860 - 1861 and 1865 - 1866 - broken

Contact with Basement Roacks at 1878'

DESCRIPTION

Basement At 1878'

Greenstone ~ basaltic type composition - knife edge contact - possib fault - generally fine avained although grain size varies in plr.ces; chlorite content is usually high dnd lends dark green colour to fresh section; relic crystal outlines (ferromagnesians) in places; strongly magnetic and althjnyh sulphide content (Py, Po and trace

Cp) is sometimes up to 5%, magnetism may bo due in part to fine- disseminated magnetite. The sulphides arc generally along fracture sur

faces,- some scattered stringers of quartz-feldspathic material

- 1892 - broken

in medium to coarse broken-1895 - 1915 - sulphides (mostly py)- grain size somewhat coarser- chlorite (green) and feldspar ( ?) (white) rich composition with sone stringers of quartz-feldspathic material in the rock at variousj angles.- 1904 - 2" section of white, brecciated, highly quartzitic materialjj within greenstone layers - angle at 25O with core axis- seemingly concordant to bearby fracture - magnetic, probably as a result of finely disseminated sulphides.

- 1909 - 1910 - broken

-1919.5 - scattered stringers of white quartz and pink feldspar

-1927 - angle of 550 to C.A. - light bands sometimes of quartz- feldspathic material - sometime broken.

1930' - stringers of quartz-feldspathic material - small lens (V1 ) of pure white to cream quartzite.

1942 - 1944 - higher quartz content - greenish to brown; - small equant crystals of pyrite.

1966 - red staining that appears to cross grain boundaries - also trace of chalcopyrite and possible magnet.vte

1992 - 2011 - somev/hat finer grained and blacker; some secondary ; quartz visible in the middle of the section; fewer stringers of sulphide (py and trace of Cp and Po) than before with some broken : blobs .

2011 - 2019.5 - thin pink to red contorted stringers of feldspathic material with sulphides (py) seemingly associated with them. The stringers are continuous and abundant. Some stringers of just sul- ' phida (Py, trace of Cp and Po) .

2019 - slightly broken
