Emily Amy – Deer River

Hansen Construction Consulting - $1,000

Emily is enrolled in the LPN program at ICC. As part of the nursing

program she has donated blood, volunteered with the food shelf and

assisted in various nursing department activities. Before going back to

school full time, she managed a small business.

Lisa Anderson – Hill City

Centennial Rotary Club - $1,000

John E. McMahon, M.D. and Mary Margaret Reisinger McMahon - $1,000

Lisa is a full-time student, involved in school/community activities. She

has a 19 month old daughter and her motto is: Be kind, be thoughtful, and

always think of the bigger picture.

Antorio Bailey – La Vergne High School

ICC Foundation Annual Fund Drive Sophomore - $750

Antorio played football and track in high school and plays football at ICC.

He was in DECA club and worked at Arby’s.

Isabelle Bailey – Mora

Leila Luedeking Scholarship - $500

Isabelle enjoys performing in theatre and choir, writing, and working with

children. Isabelle has worked as a lifeguard at the local YMCA. She is

concerned about the increasing overuse and dependence on technology.

Andrew Bigwood – Grand Rapids

Justice Esther Tomljanovich Scholarship - $500

Andrew has worked at Target for years. He hopes to continue to live and

work in the Grand Rapids area after completing a degree at ICC.

Richard Bisson – Carrabassett Valley

Richard is a lifeguard and an American Red Cross lifeguard instructor. He

is a carpenter and a self-employed arborist. He intends to become a nurse.

Logan’s extracurricular activities in high school are many and varied. He

has been in Knowledge Bowl, Math Team and Business Professionals of

America. He plays soccer, was in the Reif Dance Company performance of

“The Nutcracker” and tutors special needs high school students.

Trenda is interested in working in Early Childhood and spent many years

providing foster care.

Karla is a nursing student at ICC with the goal of working at Grand Itasca

Clinic. She is a member of Itasca Family YMCA with an interest in their

WeeFolks and sea turtles programs.

Giizhik Wagner – Northome

Ruth MacRostie Trust - $1,000

Giizhik’s educational and career goal is to be employed as an elementary

teacher in a small town school. He credits his sixth grade teacher for

inspiring him to become a teacher and a coach.

Austin Weideman - homeschooled

L & M Supply, Del & Lila Matteson Entrepreneur - $1,000

Austin is a business student at ICC. He plays baseball and has two

part-time jobs. He volunteers at the county fair in his community.

Rebeka Weller – Nashwauk/Keewatin

John E. McMahon, M.D. and Mary Margaret Reisinger McMahon - $1,000

Rebeka is on the Honor Roll and played in UMD and UWS Honor Bands.

She has been in basketball, track and softball. She was in Student Council

and Knowledge Bowl. Her career goal is to be a health/phy.ed. teacher in a

small rural school.

Jacalyn Wendt – Bigfork

Twin Cities Iron Rangers “Rangerspiel” - $1,000

Jacalyn has had her own restaurant, and has worked for Lutheran Social

Services and been involved with people with disabilities. She supports

Special Olympics and has taken the Polar Plunge.

Sarah Blanchard – Hill City

Paul and Anna Santrach - $750

Sarah is a Business student. She has played three sports and been on

various committees in high school. She volunteers at a food shelf, and

helped run camps for foster children.

Michael Bodri - Northwoods

ICC Foundation Annual Fund Drive Freshman - $750

Michael, in high school, was in Math League, Upward Bound, National

Honor Society and Knowledge Bowl. He has been a construction worker

and a bank teller. He has volunteered with Empty Bowls, a blood drive, a

diabetes walk and highway cleanup.

Michael Bolden – Decatur Ruth MacRostie Trust - $1,000 Michael plans to pursue a career in secondary education with an emphasis on health and physical education. He also intends to coach and be a mentor to children.

Araina Boyd – International Falls Lakehead Pipeline Company - $1,000

Pay it Forward/Kathie Allen & Mike Rybak - $500

Araina is a pre-engineering student. She belongs to women and students

engineering societies. She has been a 4-H volunteer, a school bus driver

and a half-marathon runner.

Britnee Brown – Grand Rapids

After graduating from ICC, Britnee intends to continue her education with

the career goal of becoming a veterinarian. She currently lives in Coleraine

and would like to live and work in the area at a veterinary clinic.

Amy works part-time in a nursing home and has been a student tutor in the

writing center. She volunteers at a dance studio and other places in the

Allen Scholarship - $500

Miranda has been involved in sports in high school, as well as German Club,

Knowledge Bowl, Science Club and Student Council. She was a Bible Camp

Counselor and worked at resorts. She intends to enroll in the Class Act

program.

Erin Casey – Grand Rapids

Northern Star Cooperative Scholarship - $500

Erin has been involved with 4-H, which has taught her life skills such as

leadership and the value of teamwork. Erin intends to study Early

Childhood Education with the hopes of working as a preschool teacher or

daycare provider.

William Chadwick - Maranatha

Give to the Max Day - $975

William enjoys cross-country skiing, fishing, biking and building robots. He

intends to earn a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering.

Kyle is a member of the ICC baseball team and has been involved in many

sports throughout his life. He is a member of the YMCA and hopes to play

college ball at UND while pursuing a business degree.

Summer Taylor - Northwoods

Alexander and Marietta Murray King Family Memorial - $750

Summer has participated in Upward Bound, Math League and archery. She

had an internship at Jay Cooke State Park and has had several volunteer

experiences. She works as a dishwasher/cook.

Kacey Trout – Deer River

Kacey is studying business, with the long-term goal of working in her family

business alongside her father and grandmother. She has been active in

sports and band.

Christopher Van Dyke - Hibbing

Christopher is an Eagle Scout who has worked as a mason and a glazier, and

he has done refractory work in area mines. He enjoys assisting the Boy

Scout Troop in Hibbing, MN.

Jody is a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. She works

full-time, is a mother, and intends to continue her education at

Leah is in the Natural Resources Program at ICC. She has been a highly

successful three-sport athlete. Her career goal is to become a conservation

Cody participates in sports and band. He is in the Robotics Club and

received an Excellence Award as a STEM student. He works and volunteers

on a regular basis, and is active in his church.

Amber is in the Class Act program, working with kindergarteners at

Cohasset Elementary School. She is on the basketball team at ICC and the

Dean’s list. Her dream is to teach elementary school and coach.

Arrowhead Promotion - $1,000

Darian is an Engineering student at ICC and president of the Engineering

Club. He was a member of his high school Knowledge Bowl and Robotics

teams. He volunteers with Circle K club, Relay for Life and Grace House. He

has worked at the casino in Warroad, MN, and as a farmhand.

Noah Squires - Northwoods

Robert C. Anderson Memorial Scholarship - $1,000

Bentz/Jukich Scholarship - $500

ICC Faculty Scholarship - $500

Noah has volunteered extensively and participated in basketball and cross

country. His career goal is to become a Mechanical Engineer.

N. William and Nadine Hamlin - $1,000

In his high school, Justin is involved in sports, student council and yearbook.

He has volunteered for his community and his church. He is a maintenance

worker in the summer.

Athena Cloninger – Northern Lights

Licke Family Scholarship - $1,000

Athena sees homelessness as a serious problem, and plans to work in

human services.

Caitlyn Coatsworth - Greenway

Loyal Order of Moose - $500

Caitlyn and her husband have three little boys. She works as a waitress in

summers and intends to earn an A.S. in Early Childhood Education. She

hopes to open her own pre-school and day care center.

Joseph Connelly – Canal Winchester

Francis Chucker, M.D. - $750

Robert Hall Scholarship - $1,500

Joseph plays guitar and has volunteered at a library and an animal shelter.

He is active in Philosophy Club and Student Government. His desire is to

obtain a doctorate in Psychology and teach at the community college level.

Hunter Dahlke – Bigfork

Greater Pokegama Lake Association Water Quality - $750

Hunter is interested in conservation, and is in the Natural Resources

Program at ICC. He has worked at insulating and landscaping and estate

sales. In high school he did track and football, Resources on the Edge and

Robotics.

Sydney Denny – Grand Rapids

Star of the North Lions Club - $750

Sydney is a varsity athlete on her high school softball and basketball teams.

She intends to earn an A.S. degree with the hope of being employed at

Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Steven Morrill Freeman Memorial Scholarship - $500

Cortney is a business student who has participated in sports, band and her

church. She considers segregation a significant societal problem.

Brendan Donner – Northeast Range

Ulseth Family Engineering Scholarship - $1,000

Brendan intends to finish his Engineering degree at Itasca and then continue

in the IRE program to earn a BA in mechanical and electrical engineering.

He hopes to find work on the Iron Range after graduation.

Wyatt Fitterer– New Richland

ICC Foundation Scholarship - $750

Wyatt has been active in football and wrestling. After graduating from ICC

he intends to pursue a B.S. in criminal justice with the career goal of work-

ing for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Tucker Flaten – Eau Claire

Brink Agricultural - $1,000

Sophie and Dan Njegovan Memorial Scholarship - $1,000

Tucker is interested in natural resources. He received the Dale Knotek

Service Award from Delta Theta Sigma Agricultural Fraternity .

Alissa Glines – Greenway

Roy and Eva Monroe Robbins Family - $1,000

Alissa has been involved in several sports, as both participant and helper.

Her extra-curricular activities are many and varied, from Pep Club to

National Honor Society. She has worked at Shaw Florists and Invest Early.

Alexis Greene – Northland

Tim Budrow Teaching Scholarship - $1,000

Alexis has lettered in three sports and in Quiz Bowl. She has been on

Northland Leadership Team and Leech Lake Tribal Leadership. She has

taken National Youth Leadership Training and Blandin Youth Leadership.

Dalton Rowan – Menomonie

C.C. Baker Education Scholarship - $500

In high school, Dalton was involved in hockey, football, FCA, and DECA.

Dalton intends to study Education, first at ICC and then at a four-year

university. His career dream is to become a physical education teacher.

Karlie Rutherford – Greenway

Roy and Eva Monroe Robbins Family - $3,000

Karli is a nursing assistant student at ICC. She works with children who

have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and is a volunteer with fifth graders. She has

played many sports and is involved with several extra-curricular activities

at ICC.

Nicole Schjenken – Deer River

Bennett Scholarship - $500

Nicole enjoys bowling and, after receiving a degree from ICC, hopes to

work as a preschool teacher or daycare provider.

Cody Schlader – Grand Rapids

Elroy and Virgilia M. Clark – Endowed - $1,200

Cody is a detailer at Lakewoods Chrysler. He shoots on several different

firearm leagues, including trap and skeet for school and private leagues.

Baylie Seifert – Grand Rapids

Allen Scholarship - $500

Paul Bunyan Communications - $500

Baylie is a member of FFA and the North Woods Saddle Club. She works in

day care and volunteers in her church nursery. She is on her high school

swim team and teaches swimming for the City of Grand Rapids.

Colton Kettelhut—Duluth Fox Family Scholarship -$500

Colton is an Engineering student who is currently studying in Denmark.

He will be attending Michigan Technological University in the fall where he

will continue to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bryan Porter - Treknorth

Bryan has had many part-time jobs, from fast food to lube tech. He

belongs to Civil Air Patrol, which gives him opportunities to volunteer as

well as doing emergency response training and missions. He has sampled

water conditions and insects, and helped kids learn at the local science

center.

Kayla Porterfield – Nashwauk/Keewatin

Meds – 1 EMS - $1,000

Kayla is pursuing health studies. She has been involved in sports, and

symphonic and marching bands.

Daniel Radermacher – Grand Rapids

ICC Classified Staff - $500

Edward Jones - $500

Daniel is a musician, playing tuba in marching and pep bands in his high

school. He hopes to obtain a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering. He hopes to

foster creativity in the business workplace.

Eric Riihinen – Hibbing

Kiwanis Club/Will Backes - $500

Eric is an Engineering student involved with Circle K. He enjoys playing

hockey and basketball, and intends to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering

and live on the Iron Range.

Colton Ross – Grand Rapids

Lake Country Power Les Beach Memorial - $1,000

Colton works at Glen’s Army Navy. He has volunteered at Swatara

Community Center, and at the Eagles Club in Grand Rapids for the National

Wild Turkey Foundation. He’s committed to maintaining a 4.0 GPA in

Engineering.

Casey’s extracurricular activities are diverse, from band and choir, science

and German clubs, to golf. He is a member of Student Council, National

Melissa was highly involved in a variety of activities in high school, including

basketball, student council, drama club, and the National Honor Society.

Her career goal is to become a RN after acquiring an LPN license through

her studies at ICC.

Aaron Grozdanich – Hibbing

Sophie and Dan Njegovan Memorial - $1,000

Aaron is returning to college to pursue a degree in mechanical/electrical

engineering, with a goal of one day being employed by Minnesota Power.

He was a wrestler in high school and enjoys volunteering with local wres-

tling programs.

Colin Gudereit – Michael A. Riffel

Twin Cities Iron Ranger “Rangerspiel” - $1,000

Colin has played many sports, is currently on the ICC baseball team, and

has been a volunteer umpire for Little League. He has also volunteered for

a humane society, a food bank, a community hall and the Salvation Army.

He intends to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

M’kayla Guertin-Wilson – Grand Rapids

Wayne and Ellen Paakkonon - $500

M’kayla’s dream is to teach second grade at Grand Rapids, Greenway, or

Deer River. After earning an AA at Itasca, she plans to attend BSU before

returning to Itasca County.

Robert Hammann – Grand Rapids

Robert was an enthusiastic volunteer assistant coach of a middle school

Robotics team, having been a leader in such a team in high school. He also

participated in Shell EcoMarathon, where his team took third place

internationally for their electric prototype vehicle. He works part-time.

John Haugen – St. Francis

Will Backes Alumni - $750

John has been involved in a variety of extracurricular and volunteer

activities. He intends to work as a wildland firefighter and earn a B.A. in

Forestry.

Carli Haynes – Grand Rapids

Leo Gillman Memorial - $500

All through high school, Carli was heavily involved in sporting activities.

She intends to study nursing at ICC, and loves working with children.

Rachael Helmuth - homeschooled

Francis Chucker, M.D. - $750

GFWC Grand Rapids – North Star Women’s Club Inc. - $600

Rachael will enroll in the LPN program at ICC, and later pursue an RN

degree. She is a pianist and vocalist, and performs many volunteer

services in connection with her church. She also works part-time.

Randy Hemphill - Greenway

Greenway All-Class Reunion - $750

Randy is a vocalist currently with the Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus.

Singing with the Mississippi Melody Showboat chorus, he entertained at

many social functions and at care facilities.

Noah enjoys fishing and hunting and works as a laborer. He serves a local

church and assists disabled people. He is a wood carver, a producer of

music , makes home movies and is a CRU member.

Chelsey Peters - Grygla

Alpha Delta Kappa - $500

Chelsey is a Phi Theta Kappa member working in Grand Rapids schools. In

high school, she was in band, choir, German club, student council and

yearbook. She volunteered at the high school.

Tanner Peterson – Greenway

Mike McGinnis Scholarship - $500

Rhoda Nyberg Art - $500

After graduating from ICC, Tanner hopes to obtain a BA and then a

Master’s in Human Services. He would like to work as a vocational

rehabilitation counselor. He is passionate about the environment and cli-

mate change.

Brandon Pfeiffer - Roseau

Eichman Merit Award - $1,000

Brandon is an Accounting student. He was in Concert Choir, captain of

football and basketball teams, in Student Council and on the Dean’s List.

He has had jobs in manual labor.

Irene Brennan - $500

Aaryk has been involved in sports, Robotics, and homecoming. He is the

oldest of five children and credits his parents with teaching him the value of

a strong work ethic. He will be enrolled in the Engineering program at ICC.

Devon Nelson - Como Park

Wallace Hilke Business - $750

Devon’s long range educational goal is to earn a master’s in psychology and

criminal justice.

Tyler Nelson – Deer River

John E. McMahon, M.D. and Mary Margaret Reisinger McMahon - $500

Kiwanis Club/Will Backes - $500

Tyler is a member of Circle K and Phi Theta Kappa. He was employed as an

equipment operator for five years, and has had various volunteer

and does various types of volunteering.

Carrie Elizabeth Bogie - $750

Morgan is in the Education program at ICC. She is currently working as a

student teacher at Forest Lake Elementary. She has played and coached

softball and volleyball, and is active in youth activities in her church.

Ann Turek Scholarship - $500

Lorenzo is committed to improving the lives of others through health and

fitness. His intention to become a nurse will fulfill his desire to show

compassion to others. He hopes to one day become a doctor and work

with children.

Israel Hernandez - East River High School

Mark and Peggy Miner Scholarship - $1,500

Rowe Funeral Home - $500

Israel has been recognized as an outstanding football player. His

volunteerism includes feeding the homeless and coaching PeeWee

Football.

Xenia Hillman - Kelliher

Bernard C. Ahlm - $500

Xenia plays softball and basketball, sings in the choir and participates in

Knowledge Bowl. She has worked as a cashier, a commercial salmon

fisherman and at her family’s resort.

Orrin is studying accounting. He plays guitar in a local band. He has had

various jobs in his community.

Reid Howard – Vincent Massey

Reid will study Engineering at ICC and play on the baseball team. After

earning an A.S. at ICC, he intends to continue his education in mechanical

engineering.
