INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Submission of manuscripts

Submission for all types of manuscripts to The Journal of Supercritical Fluids proceeds totally online. Via the Elsevier Editorial System Web site for this journal at http://ees.elsevier.com/supfl u, you will be guided stepwise through the creation and uploading of the various fi les. When submitting a manuscript to Elsevier Editorial System, authors need to provide an electronic version of their manuscript. Only original source fi les should be submitted.

Authors are requested to submit their original manuscript to: Professor E. Kiran (Editor-in-Chief), Professor G. Brunner (European submissions), or Professor R.L. Smith, Jr. (Asian submissions).

Manuscript Preparation

General: Manuscripts must be double-spaced using a font size of 10–12 pt with margins 1.0–1.5 inches wide. All pages must be numbered consecutively. The corresponding author should be identifi ed (include an E-mail address and Fax number). Full postal addresses must be given for all co-authors. Authors should consult a recent issue of the journal for style if possible. Regular papers should not contain a table of contents, although a table of contents is acceptable for Review papers.

The Editors reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity.

Language (Usage and Editing services): Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to conform to correct scientifi c English may wish to use the English Language Editing service available from Elsevier’s WebShop http://webshop.elsevier.com/languageediting/ or visit our customer support site http://support.elsevier.com for more information.

Illustrations

Submitting your artwork in an electronic format helps us to produce your work to the best possible standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity and a high level of detail.

General points

• Make sure you use uniform lettering and sizing of your original artwork. • Save text in illustrations as “graphics” or enclose the font. • Only use the following fonts in your illustrations: Arial, Courier, Helvetica, Times, Symbol.• Number the illustrations according to their sequence in the text.• Use a logical naming convention for your artwork fi les.• Provide all illustrations as separate fi les.• Provide captions to illustrations separately.• Produce images near to the desired size of the printed version.A detailed guide on electronic artwork is available on our website: http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions

Graphical abstract: A Graphical abstract is mandatory for this journal. It should summarize the contents of the article in a concise, pictorial form designed to capture the attention of a wide readership online. Authors must provide images that clearly represent the work described in the article. Graphical abstracts should be submitted as a separate fi le in the online submission system. Image size: please provide an image with a minimum of 531 × 1328 pixels (h × w) or proportionally more. The image should be readable at a size of 5 × 13 cm using a regular screen resolution of 96 dpi. Preferred fi le types: TIFF, EPS, PDF or MS Offi ce fi les. See http://www.elsevier.com/graphicalabstracts for examples. Authors can make use of Elsevier’s Illustration and Enhancement service to ensure the best presentation of their images also in accordance with all technical requirements.

Proofs

Proofs will be sent to the author, to be checked for printer’s errors. In case of two or more authors please indicate to whom the proofs should be sent.

Offprints

The corresponding author, at no cost, will be provided with a PDF fi le of the article via e-mail. For an extra charge, paper offprints can be ordered via the offprint order form which is sent once the article is accepted for publication. The PDF fi le is a watermarked version of the published article and includes a cover sheet with the journal cover image and a disclaimer outlining the terms and conditions of use.
