Aims & scopeFluid Phase Equilibria publishes high quality papers dealing with experimental, theoretical and applied research related to equilibrium and transport properties of fl uid and solid phases. The fl uid phase properties of interest include: PVT, enthalpies, heat capacities, Joule-Thomson coeffi cients, Gibbs and Helmholtz energies, chemical potentials, activity and fugacity coeffi cients, critical properties, chemical equilibria, multiphase equilibria and interfacial properties, thermal conductivity, viscosity andrheological properties, and diffusion coeffi cients. A wide range of pure and mixed fl uids may be considered: non-polar and polar small organic and inorganic molecules, ions, metals, polymers, surfactants, ionic liquids, gas hydrates, complexand biological molecules (e.g. proteins). Papers only dealing with experimental data on viscosities and/or densities and/or speed of sound and/ or refractive index and/or surface tension of liquids or liquid mixtures at atmospheric pressure andtemperatures close to room temperature will be refused unless they are accompanied with new theory. Theoretical techniques may comprise: chemical thermo- dynamics, applied statistical mechanics, molecular physics, molecular simulation, quantum chemistry, applied mathematics.

Submission of papersAuthors can upload their article as a LaTeX,® Microsoft® (MS) Word®, WordPerfect®, PostScript or Adobe® Acrobat ® PDF document via http://www.elsevier.com/locate/fpe. The system generates an Adobe Acrobat PDF version of the article, which is used for the reviewing process. Apart from uploading separately, it is crucial that all graphical and tabular elements also be placed within the text, so that the fi le is suitable for reviewing. Authors, Reviewers and Editors send and receive all correspondence by e-mail and no paper correspondence is necessary. Please refer to specifi c instructions in the guide to Online Submission, which is available on the Author gateway. Although online submission is preferred, authors can alternatively send their submis-sions to one of the editors by mail (three copies plus an electronic fi le on disc), or as attachments to an e-mail. The full postal address, fax and telephone numbers, and e-mail address of the corresponding author must be given on the fi rst (title) page of the manuscript. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the Publisher. Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to transfer copyright. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.

Language (Usage and Editing services) Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to conform to correct scientifi c English may wish to use the English Language Editing service available from Elsevier’s WebShop http://webshop.elsevier.com/languageediting/ or visit our customer support site http://support.elsevier.com for more information.

Your colour artwork is published on ScienceDirect at no additional cost—regardless of whether the artwork appears in colour or black & white in print. Further information can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions

OffprintsAt the time the issue which includes your article is about to be printed, you will receive your offprint in an electronic format, i.e. a PDF fi le, via e-mail.
