The American star will lead another powerhouse mens team into the swim-ming portion of the world champion-ships, which begins Sunday at the Palau Sant Jordi. He hopes to compete in seven events and doesnt have to worry about being overshadowed by longtime rival Michael Phelps, who retired after the London Olympics. Lochte never con-sidered quitting, but he did try some new things, including his own reality show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?

After the Olympics, I wanted to take a break from the swimming pool, Lochte said. I wanted to do things that other Olympians just dreamed about. I had a lot of fun, doing a bunch of TV appearances. I had my own reality TV show. Everything I did was different.

But, he added, the biggest goal was always the 2016 Olympics. I knew I had to get back in the water eventually.

At the midway point of the FINA worlds championships, the American have only two medals both in open water. Their count should start to go up dramatically when Lochte, Missy Frank-lin & Co. take over the pool.

Last summer, the U.S. team won 16 golds and 31 medals overall, far more than any other nation. Franklin, who won four golds and a bronze at the Olympics, plans to increase her workload from seven to eight events at the world championships. Lochte will be nearly as busy, though he has changed up his London program.

Even though he won gold in the grueling 400-meter individual medley, hes dropped that event for this meet.

Instead, hell take on the 100 butterfly, where hell face South African star Chad le Clos who is best known for handing Phelps a shocking loss in the 200 fly at London.

Lochtes other individual events are the 200 IM, the 200 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. Plus, he hopes to be picked for all three relays.

But, given the lack of training time leading up to this meet because of his extracurricular activities, Lochte is re-alistic about his chances.

Any other year, my expectations would definitely be medaling in every

race, he said. I want to do that at this meet, but its been an off year. I really dont know whats going to happen. If I can just step on the blocks and race tough, I think Ill be all right. He has no regrets about his post-Olympic schedule.

Im usually training every day, all the time, Lochte said. This year, I took a long break. I dont know if its going to help me or not. But it was worth it. I had to do what I needed to do. My body basically needed to recharge.

The most anticipated event of the opening night is the 400 free relay, where the Americans figure to face a stiff chal-lenge from defending Olympic cham-pion France as well as the Australians, who are led by James The Missile Magnussen.

NEW YORK Jennifer Aniston is dismissing rumors surrounding her upcoming wedding to Justin Theroux and setting the record straight.

We just want to do it when its perfect, and were not rushed, and no one is rushing from a job or rushing to a job, the 44-year-old actress told The Associated Press on Saturday while promoting her new film, Were the Millers.

And, you know, we already feel married, she added. Aniston and Theroux, 41, began dating more than two years ago and got engaged on his birthday last August. Since then, their indefinite plans have led to speculation ranging from a broken engagement to Theroux getting cold feet.

Not true, says Aniston. We have yet to set any dates. There have been no canceled weddings. There have been no postponed weddings. There have been no arguments about where to get married. Just clear-ing all that up, she said.

While things are going great, the former Friends star said she sees no urgency to tie the knot.

Her new film, Were the Millers, opens Aug. 7. It co-stars Jason Sudeikis.

A particular highlight during the exhibition was a Meet the Artist program that took place every Tuesday and Friday afternoon. A work space was set up for Putu and visitors had the opportunity to see just how much detail goes into creating a Kamasan painting.

Our own staff eagerly participated in the preparation and execution of the exhibition. They were keen to help gener-ate awareness about Kamasan and prevent this unique style from becoming obsolete. Amadea Resort & Villas is now committed to helping local artists preserve the Kamasan cultural legacy. As a result, Amadea Cares will be sponsor-ing Putu by paying his school fees for the coming year and encouraging him to spend more time painting. The second instalment of this exhibition will take place next July. IBP/Net

It ran from 5th to 18th July 2013 and showcased the works of Putu Eka Hendra Jaya, a young artist who is still at school. The response to the exhibition was overwhelming and it attracted the attention of in-house guests and members of the public. The local media also picked up the story and Putus Kamasan art was in the news featuring in printed and online publications.

Denpasar (Bali Post)An ATM burglary action occurred again. At this time, the ATM

machine of BII located near the intersection of Jalan Raya Semin-yak-Jalan Batu Bolong Beach, Northern Kuta, was burglarized on Thursday morning (Jul 15). Fortunately, the unidentified robber was not managed to break in the ATM machine, so that no money could be taken away by the perpetrator.

According to information obtained on Friday (Jul 26), the ATM burglary was just known to residents in the morning. The ATM machine of the BII had been in damaged condition. After being checked, it was only the outer layer having been dismantled. Pos-sibly, the action took place around 03:00 a.m., a police source said last Saturday.

Knowing this, the case was immediately reported to Northern Kuta Police. A number of police officers and identification team were directly assigned to the scene to conduct an investigation. From the crime scene, the team took a fingerprint alleged to belong to the perpetrator. Similarly, a number of witnesses were examined.

The source requesting to keep its name a secret explained the thief had managed to open up the outer layers of the machine. Allegedly, when the perpetrator was taking action there were residents coming, so that it quickly ran away. Alternatively, the perpetrator was not professional to open the ATM machine. Finally, the thief ran away with empty hands.

To reveal the case, he said, police had checked the footage of CCTV installed in the ATM. It was expected the perpetrators face could be clearly seen from the footage, so that police could easily identify and arrest the perpetrator. Although the perpetrator did not succeed to break in, police were still investigating, he said. Meanwhile, the Chief of Criminal Unit of Northern Kuta Police, Dewa Anom, when asked for his confirmation could not give any information related to the case. (kmb21)

Distribution Manager of PT Pos for Denpasar Unit Operation, Gde Budaya, said there had been a surge in the delivery of package since early July 2013, right on entering the Ramadan. The surge in package delivery is a trend ahead of the Eid. We estimate this surge will continue to happen until at least four days before the Eid, said Gde Budaya, Saturday (Jul 27).

He explained the delivery was mostly delivered to the Island of Java, chiefly the area of East Java, Central Java and Bandung and part of Jakarta. Types of goods delivered also varied ranging from food to sup-

plies of the Eid. Most of the senders have subscribed every year. Besides, the senders usually go home by mo-torcycle, so that their burden will be lighter, he explained.

According to him, the sender as-sumed that sending goods through courier services was more effective and safer than carrying themselves when go-ing home. To anticipate higher surge, his party had provided additional vehicles. We have allocated four additional vehicles. I think it has been enough to anticipate the surge, he said.

Based on observation of Bali Post to a number of courier centers, the increase of delivery volume had been

visible from the morning, where piles of package were in queue to be sent to their destination. Such a queue was also visible where people acciden-tally sent package ahead of the Eid. The surge in freight shipping services started to look at some courier ser-vices like Tiki in Denpasar. Even, the packages to be sent were piled in front of the office. Such bustling works were also seen in the office of Elteha courier service on Jalan Diponegoro, Denpasar. At the loca-tion, some of the goods shipped were motorcycle and typical Eid goods including female Moslem praying clothes. (kmb27)

Amlapura (Bali Post)The queue of trucks at Padangbai Harbor spread along two

kilometers passing the harbor parking area. Such queue occurred because the Pier II has been out of order since Friday morning (Jul 26) and has not been repaired.

Other than being caused by the damage to the Pier II, the Sec-tion Head of Guard and Safety of Padangbai Harbor Master, Ketut Muliana, said on Saturday (Jul 27) it was also caused by the large and high waves. Muliana said if the two piers could be operated automatically two vessels could dock for loading and unloading at the same time. However, since the anchor pedestal was damaged by a vessel battered by ferocious waves, only one pier could still be utilized and they should anchor in turn. Meanwhile, the vessels wishing to anchor should await their turn at sea.

A truck driver of Java-NTB route, Husni, said last Saturday that drivers like him was very disturbed by such circumstance. He said to have arrived at the harbor parking area on Friday night (Jul 26) and until Saturday afternoon he had not gotten the turn to cross. Other than being tired and bored of waiting the queues, their pocket money had also run thin whereas it was sufficient when departing. Meanwhile, the harbor authority could not make sure how long the big waves would take place and when the second pier could be operated. (013)

DENPASAR - The number of Indian tourists visiting Bali rose 23.56 percent to 31,529 in the first half of 2013 from a year earlier, suggesting that the Balinese tourism promotion in the country appeared to be successful, an observer said.

The tourism promotion must be continued to attract as many foreign tourists as possible to visit Bali, Balinese tourism ob-server and operator Made Sudana said here on Saturday.

The figure put India in the 13th place as a source of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali next to Russia, France, Germany and the United States.

Sudana noted that the rising number of Indian tourists visiting Bali was also inseparable from good government-to-government relations which led to cultural cooperation between Bali and India which have many things in common.

Hopefully, the good cultural relations would encourage more and more well-to-do families in India to visit Bali, he said.

He warmly welcomed the efforts made by the community and spiritual figures to help develop the tourism industry by disseminating peace vibration.

The presence of Indian cultural foundations which among others introduce yoga practices with Indian teachers in Indo-nesia will help introduce the Balinese culture among Indians, he said.

The action involving hundreds of participants started around 10:00 in the morning. Coming in medium customary clothes, they made a long march around the horse statue area, Tuban, moving to the office of GVK, the company appointed by PT Angkasa Pura I to be its consul-tant with the office based on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai. Such an action hampered the traffic flows on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai.

The mass equipping themselves with various banners essentially condemned the attitude of the airport authorities. One of the banners read Do not make Balinese spectators of the airport splendor. Not only that, another banner carried also satirized the Governor of Bali, Mangku Pastika, with the wording Brother Mangku, please help us, youre also a Balinese, right?

Chairman of the P2B, I Wayan Sukses, revealed his party threatened to continuously hold an action before the airport authority could keep their promise to relocate the traders. Even, the traders threatened to block the airport if their demands were not responded.

He explained that PT Angkasa Pura I had violated the agreement

Airport taken control by foreign investors

MANGUPURA - Traders coalesced into the Airport Traders Association (P2B) rallied again on Friday (Jul 26) to ask for the promise of PT Angkasa Pura I regarding the attention to the fate of traders at Ngurah Rai Airport. They criticized the attitude of the airport authorities that even seemingly took side with foreign investors.

made on February 14. During which it promised to relocate all traders whether or not incorporated into the P2B. Such agreement was witnessed by the Commission VI of the House of Representatives of the RI and the Regent of Badung AA Gde Agung. Unfortunately, so far there is no realization. Even, Angkasa Pura has discontinued the contract agreement of seven counters, he said.

He considered the requirements of tender and rental of business premises at the airport only took side with large investors. To join in the auction, traders should register with a fee of IDR 30 million whereas there was no guarantee if the traders could pass the selection. Meanwhile, the rental cost of business premises soared. The price of counter was IDR 8 million per square meter. At least, the traders had to spend up to IDR 3 billion to be able to rent the business premises. Such amount was much higher compared to the previous price. Not to mention, the products sold should have a national or inter-national branding. Right now, to get a counter we should prepare money as much as IDR 3 billion. Formerly, we just needed to pay IDR 100 mil-lion, he said.

He said the traders were dis-traught due to the information that the airport authority would only relocate 38 traders to location in front of the hotel lobby and the area of international terminal. Besides, the number of traders relocated was just a few, while the new location

was not strategic. The traders wanted to be provided with a place in the international departure terminal.

Meanwhile, in front of the trad-ers, General Manager of PT Ang-kasa Pura I, Purwanto, confirmed that his party would not break the promise. The Board of Directors

had approved the relocation of lo-cal traders, not to one place only. For certainty, his party asked the traders to be patient. The process of calculating the number of relo-cated traders was waiting for the completion of the entire infrastruc-ture at the airport. (kmb25)

Balinese men fly traditional kites during a kite festival to promote tourism in Denpasar on Indonesias island of Bali on July 28, 2013.

Indian tourist to Bali up 23 percent

I think it is going to be harder to get up, said Quinn, 13. I do think it is better to start early so that we can be finished early and do things after school, but I am worried that if I have a boring class for my first period that it will be hard to stay awake.

Decades of sleep research have confirmed what parents know: Its hard for teenagers to wake up early. Some high schools have adopted late starts around 8:30 a.m. to im-prove attendance and performance. But other districts say its too com-plicated to shift schedules because of logistics involving buses and after-school activities.

About 40 percent of U.S. public high schools open before 8 a.m., according to the U.S. De-partment of Educations National Center for Education Statistics, with just 15 percent starting 8:30

a.m. or later. In districts where early starts are necessary because the same bus does multiple runs for high school, middle school and elementary students, teens often get the early shift.

Thats the case in Anne Arun-del County, Md., where public high schools start at 7:17 a.m. and buses start running at 5:50 a.m. Lisa Rodvien taught high school there, in Annapolis, and says attendance at her first-period classes was as low as 50 percent or below. Among those who showed up, I would definitely see three or four kids with their heads down. You walk over to them to wake them up and get them to sit up, and you see that theyre exhausted.

Earlier this year, Anne Arundel school officials laid out options for delaying start times to anywhere

from 7:32 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. along with potential complications, such as additional costs if buses are added, child care issues where late-day schedules might prevent teens from picking up younger siblings after school, and implications for teams if they end up playing in the dark. Bob Mosier, spokesman for Anne Arundel schools, said no decisions have been made.

But the focus on logistics is frustrating for Heather Macin-tosh, spokeswoman for a national organization called Start School Later thats headquartered in An-napolis. What is the priority? she said. It should be education, health and safety. All the other stuff may not be perfect you may have to have your violin les-son before school or install lights on your field (for sports) but it will work itself out.

The apparent vandalism was discovered around 1:30 a.m. local time Friday on the statue, the pedestal and the floor, U.S. Park Police said. No words, letters or symbols were visible in the paint.

The marble Lincoln statute had green paint on its shin, coattail, chair and base, as well as paint on the floor of the memorial building. Capt. Steven Booker said the paint spill appears intentional based off of the splatter. Police were reviewing security camera footage to try to identify possible suspects, he said.

No suspects had been identified by Friday afternoon. Police officials said they would not release the security footage because the investigation is ongoing.

The memorial chamber was closed all day to allow a National Park Service crew to finish cleaning up the paint. Workers spent hours using pressurized hoses and a chemical paint remover to try to wash away the paint.

National Park Service spokeswoman Carol Johnson said the memorial will be returned to the condition it was in before the vandalism. She said the work was going well by late Friday.

It is not permanent damage, she said. Our historic preservation crew knows exactly what they need to do.

The memorial, one of the most popular sites on the National Mall, was dedicated in 1922 to President Abraham Lincoln. The building was designed by Henry Bacon, and Daniel French sculpted the statue of Lincoln. It sits at the opposite end of the National Mall from the Capitol, facing the Washington Monument.

The memorial has served as a symbol of equality and reunification after the Civil War. It was the site of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.s March on Washington 50 years ago, along with other historic moments.

The Lincoln Memorial is generally open around the clock to visitors. Park rangers leave their posts about 10 p.m. and return about 9 a.m. daily. U.S. Park Police, however, maintain 24-hour patrols at the memorial, said Lt. Pamela Smith.

The Browns were born on New Years Eve, 1918. Their son said his parents met in high school and eloped in 1937 at age 18 because their parents thought the marriage between a wealthy man and a working-class woman would never last. They celebrated their 75th anniversary last September.

The couple moved to Long Beach in 1963. He was a photographer, she sold real estate. Theyll have a joint memorial service Saturday.

Khaled el-Khateeb, head of the ministrys emergency and intensive care department, said another eight died in clashes in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria.

A total of 792 people were wounded in both incidents, which spanned Friday and early Satur-day.

The Cairo violence took place when pro-Morsi protesters sought to expand their sit-in camp by mov-ing onto a nearby main boulevard, only to be confronted by police and armed civilians.

Authorities concede that the vast majority of the dead in Cairo were demonstrators, but the Interior Ministry says some policemen were wounded and it is not clear if civil-ians who sided with police were among the dead.

The extent of the bloodshed pointed to a rapidly building con-frontation between the countrys two camps, sharply divided over the coup that removed Egypts first freely elected president following protests by millions of Egyptians

demanding he step down.Authorities talk more boldly of

making a move to end weeks of pro-tests by Morsis Islamist supporters. At the same time, the Islamists are growing more assertive in challeng-ing security forces as they try to win public backing for their cause.

Officials from Morsis Muslim Brotherhood and their allies decried what they called a new massacre against their side, only weeks after July 8 clashes with army troops in Cairo that left more than 50 Morsi supporters dead.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that he spoke to Egyptian authorities, saying it is essential they respect the right to peaceful protest. He called on all sides to enter a meaningful political dia-logue to help their country take a step back from the brink.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also asked security forces to act with full respect for human rights and demonstrators to exer-cise restraint.

But neither side has shown much

taste for reconciliation. Islamists staunchly reject the new leadership and insist the only possible solution to the crisis is to reinstate Morsi. Meanwhile, the interim leadership is pushing ahead with a fast-track transition plan to return to a demo-cratically elected government by early next year.

The military-backed authorities appear confident of public support for a tougher hand after millions turned out for nationwide rallies Friday called by army chief Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi as a mandate against terrorism and violence.

Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim, who is in charge of police, took an uncompromising stance in a news conference after the violence. He accused the pro-Morsi side of provoking bloodshed to win sympathy.

We didnt go to them, they came to us - so they could use what happened for political gain, he said. Ironically, Ibrahim is a Morsi appointee, and his then-boss praised him and the force after police killed dozens of anti-government protest-ers in the city of Port Said earlier this year.

The Ministry of Interior never has and never will fire on any Egyptian, he added, saying police only shot tear gas in Saturdays violence.

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Cambodians went to the polls Sunday in an election almost cer-tain to deliver another mandate for long-ruling Prime Minister Hun Sen amid cries of foul play by his opponents.

Hun Sen, who has been in pow-er for nearly three decades, was among the early voters, casting his ballot Sunday morning near his home in Takhmau in Kandal province, south of the capital, Phnom Penh. He smiled as he walked from his car to the polling station, but declined to speak to reporters after casting his ballot, presumably to conform to rules barring any sort of campaigning during the voting period.

Opposition leader Sam Rainsy, who returned to Cambodia this month from four years in self-exile, visited a polling station near his partys office in Phnom Penh, where hundreds of voters, particularly younger ones, greeted him enthusiastically, with some of the bolder ones hugging him.

The general election was Cam-bodias fifth since 1993, when the United Nations helped stage

the countrys first free polls since the 1975-79 genocidal rule of the Khmer Rouge and a subsequent pe-riod of civil war and one-party rule. Counting of the paper ballots began shortly after the polls closed at 3 p.m., with representatives of politi-cal parties witnessing the process. The first unofficial results were not expected until Sunday evening.

There were many reports of vot-ing irregularities on social media from local journalists and election watchdog groups, but an overall picture was unlikely to emerge until Monday at the earliest.

Rainsy said his party would wait before deciding what to do about the alleged irregularities, but added that if it was clear the vot-ers will was being denied, defi-nitely, there will be protests.

The streets around Hun Sens residence in Phnom Penh were closed Sunday, with hundreds of police officers patrolling in apparent effort to guard against protests.

I am happy to see people flocking to vote, Rainsy told reporters, though he himself was unable to vote and was not on the ballot because he failed to register in time, being in self-imposed ex-ile until earlier this month.

Existence of Singapadu village where the Bali Bird Park (BBP) is located has a lot of potential and uniqueness. Many interesting things can be seen by tourists such as the silversmith, carvers and even the way of life remaining to preserve the Balinese customs. It was revealed by Ngakan Made Agung, Director of Sales & Marketing of the BBP at the Launching of the BBP Cycling Package.

Cycling package is launched to give more options to tourists coming to the BBP so that they cannot only look at the wildlife and conservation, but also can see the pristine village offering the overlay of magnificent rice fields as well as the environment around the Singapadu village. It will be able to develop more potential for the Singapadu tourism village and contribute more to the public about the presence of cycling in terms of economic point of view, added Ngakan.

As been known, other than being the first conservation tourist attrac-tion in Bali, the Bali Bird Park has a collection of the biggest and best birds. These animals do not only come from Indonesia, but also from Africa and South America. This educational recreation area spreads across the area of 2.5 hectares with a beautiful landscape. About 2,000 tropical plants including 50 varieties of palm trees become the col-lection so that they can attract a lot of butterflies and are capable of providing protection to nearly 1,000 birds of 250 different species. It is divided into areas to create a natural bird habitat, completed with plants and traditional artifacts for the authenticity, so that the habitats here will be comfortable.

The BBP currently has a collection of 1,000 birds belonging to 250 different species, nine species of bright colored parrots from South America such as the Scarlet Macaw and Toucan Hyacinth Macaw. The latter is the largest parrot in the world. Besides, there is also Flamingo posing one of the oldest birds. Based on the fossil record, the Flamingo has existed on earth since the 30-50 million years ago. The other uniqueness is the presence of Grey African Parrots that has the ability to mimic human speech

Meanwhile, the archipelagic collection of birds is brought in from Papua, Kalimantan, Java and Bali. The bird of Bali becoming the mascot and classified into endangered species is the Bali Starling (Leucopsar Rothschildi). This rare bird is bred in the Bali Bird Park as a part of the conservation program. Other than functioning as a recreation object, the BBP also serves as a place of education and learning. On that account, this location is equipped with facilities of breeding, research and veterinary medicine. Its achievement rate is quite high in terms of reproduction of birds.

Currently, the strength of the BBP is Bird Show as well as the ser-vices related to the sanitation and friendliness. Natural landscape with the support of 120 employees makes the tourist attraction draw tourist arrival up to 1,000 people per day. In June, our arrival increased 50 percent compared to the same month last year. They consist of domestic tourists and foreign tourists from Europe, Asia, Russia and Australia. Over all the achievement, we got an award from Trip Advisor as the best tourist attraction in Gianyar County, concluded Ngakan.

As observation at location on Fri-day (Jul 26), the area had previously been arranged by releasing the land owned by residents for location of selling. The area had been leveled and then arranged by equipping it with landscaping garden. On the edge of the area was planted with a number of large shade trees. One of shade trees had long fallen to topple the paddy plant of residents. Though having fallen, relevant agency handling the arrangement had not replaced the fallen shade tree. Even, up to last Sat-

urday the fallen tree had started to rot. Allegedly, the fallen tree was made a shallow hole when planting it. In ad-dition, the blows of beach wind also caused the shade tree to uproot.

Aside from fallen tree, around the area also lay a channel leading to the beach that had not been accomplished completely. Only a half of the drain had been worked on. Such condition was worried to kindle flood when it rained and water volume turned abundant. As a result, the arranged area would be inundated.

Dewa Ketut Suardipa, a tourism businessman on Penimbangan Beach said last Saturday if the shade tree had long toppled. He claimed to be surprised because since then until last Saturday the fallen tree had not been handled by relevant agency or contractor working on the arrange-ment. Unluckily, the arrangement of trader location did not take place sustainably and so far it had not been occupied by traders. Such condition was recognized to slightly disturb the beach view of Penimbangan Beach that started to be known by tourists. If possible, this should be continued and what having been planted in this area must be maintained and do not let it go damaged. As a result, this flourishing area even gets disturbed, he explained. Denpasar (Bali Post)

Commitment of the Denpasar Municipality in realizing the urban public transport is high enough. As evidence, billions of rupiahs have been allocated to revive the urban public transport in the city having cultural vision. The newest program is changing the conventional public transport into Trans Sarbagita feeder transport. This transportation mode got the funding from the regional budget since the end of 2012. Even, in the regional budget amendment 2013, the municipal government plans to allocate IDR 1.2 billion to

fund the operation of 56 units of feeder transport. Meanwhile, in the main regional budget the govern-ment allocates IDR 3.1 billion for the operation during 270 days.

Spokesperson of Denpasar Mu-nicipality, Dewa Gede Rai, said in his office on Friday (Jul 26) the subsidy posed an effort of Denpasar Municipality to cope with the traf-fic crowdedness in Denpasar by improving the mass transportation system through the addition of new feeders. We hope people to continuously use public transport prepared by the government in or-der to tackle the traffic congestion

in Denpasar at certain hours, said Dewa Rai.

He added the transportation mode remained to serve the public for free since it was launched late 2012. The transport had been serv-ing four routes operated, where the first route was from Ngurah Rai Stadium to Renon, Puputan Badung and returned to Ngurah Rai Stadium. The second route moved from Ma-tahari Terbit Beach, Sanur to Jalan Tukad Yeh Aya, Sanglah and was back to Matahari Terbit. The third route was from Jalan Pulau Moyo to Kepaon, Sanglah and returned to Jalan Pulau Moyo. Meanwhile, the

fourth route moved from Sidakarya to Jalan Waturenggong, Jalan PB Sudirman and returned to Sidakarya. Denpasar municipal government is always trying to cope with the traffic crowdedness by streamlining urban transport through provision of sub-sidies. In addition, the community travelling to their destination can get the service properly and freely, said Dewa Rai.

Based on the existing record, the municipal government initially spent IDR 1.5 billion for the opera-tion of the feeder for four months at the end of 2012. In 2013, the Denpasar Municipality through the

Transportation Agency launched a budget amounting to IDR 3.1 bil-lion to operate 56 units of feeder vehicle for the period of 270 days. As planned, in the budget amend-ment the vehicles were proposed to get IDR 1.2 billion. Even next year, the Transportation Agency designed IDR 6.5 billion for the transport mode.

Dewa Rai added that regular and licensed public transportation (beyond the feeder) in Denpasar amounted to 1,024 units. However, the units remaining to be operated only amounted to 525 to serve 12 routes. (kmb12)

WASHINGTON - The US econ-omy looks like it grew more slowly than expected in the second quarter, the International Monetary Fund said Friday.

Recent indicators point to a sharper than expected slowdown in economic activity in the second quarter, IMF experts said in a report issued following annual con-sultations with American officials.

This reflects weakness in inven-tory accumulation and net exports as well as slower private consump-tion growth as suggested by retail sales in June.

The pullback in consumer spend-ing poses a sharp drag on growth as it fuels about two-thirds of activity in the worlds largest economy.

The US government is set to release its first estimate of gross domestic growth for the second quarter on Wednesday.

First-quarter GDP growth was at a tepid annual rate of 1.8 percent as the economy still struggles to recover from the Great Recession that ended four years ago.

The IMF reiterated its warn-ing that downside risks dominate, pointing to payroll tax increases in

January and the sharp sequester spending cuts that began in March as slowing economic growth.

The IMF board of directors generally concurred that the fiscal deficit reduction in 2013 is exces-sively rapid, and that the automatic spending cuts (the sequester) not only reduce growth in the short term but could also lower medium-term potential growth, the report said.

The sharp US fiscal tightening was expected to keep growth sub-dued at 1.7 percent this year, the IMF said, projecting 2014 growth would pick up to 2.7 percent as the fiscal drag subsides and the negative legacies of the financial crisis wane further.

The governments fiscal policies are expected to shave between 1.50 and 1.75 percentage points from growth this year, it said.

The US Federal Reserve has a decidedly brighter view of the economys trajectory. The central bank has estimated 2013 growth be-tween 2.3 percent and 2.6 percent, which would accelerate in 2014 to 3.0-3.5 percent.

The IMF said the Feds highly ac-commodative policy remained ap-propriate given the slack growth and tame inflation expectations.

The ECB will likely see no press-ing need to ease monetary policy still further given the recent improvement in economic data, Postbank analysts wrote in a note to investors.

In particular, activity in the euro-zone private sector has picked up in July, suggesting that the recession in the 17 countries that share the euro could be coming to an end, according to Markit.

Business sentiment is improving in most countries and consumer sentiment in France is also slightly better.

    Another positive sign, albeit an-

ecdotal so far, is a drop in unemploy-ment in Spain in the second quarter, the first decline in two years, even if it remains very high at 26.26% of the working populaton.

The ECB pared back its key inter-est rates to a new all-time low of 0.5 percent in May.

At the beginning of July, ECB president Mario Draghi pledged to keep them low for as long as neces-sary or even cut them still further if the need arose.

The comments were seen by some economists as a mini-revolution in the ECBs communication policy

since it has never issued such for-ward guidance until now.

Draghi insisted that the policy change was a unanimous decision on the ECBs governing council, but some dissent has become apparent as to the significance of such a change.

Draghi is therefore likely to be quizzed about this at his regular post-meeting news conference.

ECB executive board member Joerg Asmussen, for example, sug-gested that the time-frame for the guidance was at least 12 months.

But the ECB quickly back-ped-alled, insisting that was not how his comments should be interpreted.

Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann also waded into the fray, insisting Draghis comments did not necessarily constitute a decision taken in advance on the direction of inter-

est rates and that the ECB governing council was not tying itself to the mast like Ulysses.

There are clear divisions on the Governing Council over how binding forward guidance should be, said Capital Economics economist Jen-nifer McKeown.

While members were unanimous in their decision to make a vague pledge last month, they may well be unable to agree on a specific time-frame or economic conditions that would need to prevail before higher rates could be considered, not least because conditions vary so much between euro-zone countries.

We therefore expect the same vague guidance to be repeated this month with little clarification of what it means, McKeown said.

    Commerzbank economist Chris-

toph Balz suggested another source of discord that could raise temperatures at the council meeting is the topic of the collateral that the ECB accepts from banks in return for funding.

Eurozone banks appear reluctant to lend to consumers and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). And in this context, the ECB an-nounced in mid-July that it intended to ease the collateral rules for so-called asset-backed securities (ABS).

Bundesbank president Weidmann and other critics believe the risks involved with these ABSs are impen-etrable to understand, Balz said.

Thus, as a compromise, the ECB was not buying these instruments from banks but has softened the criteria under which it accepts them as collateral in order to stimulate bank lending, Balz said.

JAKARTA- The AirAsia Indonesia Airlines has launched its maiden flight from Bali to Ma-laysias city of Kota Kinabalu, as its 11th route during January-July 2013 period, the airlines official said.

We are committed to continue providing new routes for the community, and Bali - Kota Kina-balu is one of them, said the AirAsia President Director Dharmadi in its press statement here on Sunday.

According to him, the AirAsia Indonesia op-erates Bali - Kota Kinabalu route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in two hours 30 minutes respectively.

Through the AirAsia flight schedule, pas-sengers originating from Bali can continue their flights from Kota Kinabalu to various destina-tions such as Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzen,

Hong Kong, and Taipei. On the other hand, tourists can go to Bali for

holidays via Kota Kinabalu, he said.In addition, the AirAsia currently also has

route from Jakarta to Kota Kinabalu three times a week since 2011, which was operated by the AirAsia Malaysia.

Dharmadi said further that Kota Kinabalu as the capital city of Malaysias state of Sabah has several places of interests like the nature tourism and beaches.

Kota Kinabalu as a tourism destination has a very famous tourist destination of Mount Kina-balu, diving spot and also the beautiful tropical rainforest located in Kinabalu National Park. While, Bali is also vary famous as an interna-tional tourist destination, Dharmadi noted.

Thus by opening of the Bali - Kota Kinabalu route, the AirAsia Indonesia airlines also has linked two renowned tourist destinations.

Populistic economy in the agricultural sector stays powerless because the role of government and facilitation is very minimal. When farmers have abundant production, the price immediately drops. Con-versely, when the price of agricul-tural product increases, a market operation is promptly carried out under the pretext for the interests of consumers. Supposedly, it must be left in appropriate with the mar-ket mechanism so that farmers can enjoy the yield of their labor, he explained.

Based on the facts, the govern-ment should give more attentions and serves as facilitator of the development in socio-economic aspect. But in reality, the govern-ment only touted a discourse on their support to social economy without doing much. For example, it should provide a favorable market mechanism for social economy, chiefly in the agricul-tural sector in the broad sense like livestock, fisheries, marine and horticulture.

For example, when the price of grain and the other agricultural products drops, the government should immediately intervene and asks farmers to hold their products so that they are not selling off theirs

like that. To perform the action, the government must surely buy the farmers products. When the price increases, it can be sold by degrees to the market. What happens so far is in the contrary, when the price of agricultural products increases the government conducts a market operation, he said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesia Mar-ket Traders Association (APPSI) Bali also continued to urge the government to establish a wholesale market in order to accommodate the local agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits as an effort to improve the economy of Balinese people. So far, the problem com-plained by farmers in Bali was the unavailability of sufficient market. Evidently, in harvest season the price of the agricultural product declined quite dramatically or the products decomposed due to lack of market.

At least, the wholesale market can later give them the advantage of 10-15 percent of the production cost so that farmers will continue to be motivated and pay attention to quality products, said Chairman of the APPSI Bali, Ida Bagus Raka Wiryanatha.

He explained that wholesale market was different from tradition-

al and modern markets. Its presence was intended to create a standard-ized pricing, production and quality management of the agricultural

products. Currently, the agricultural products were uncoordinated either in terms of price, quality or produc-tion desired by the market and the

quantity produced by farmers, so that it often caused overproduction and ultimately led the commodity prices to fall. (kmb28)

JAKARTA - Indonesia will seek compensa-tion from the United States for pulling its clove cigarettes from shelves despite a World Trade Organisation (WTO) ruling that deemed the ban discriminatory.

Indonesias trade ministry said it had lost be-tween $200 million and $300 million annually from the 2009 ban, aimed at helping prevent youths from taking up smoking.

The WTO found that the US had flouted trade rules in its health act -- under which cinnamon, coffee, grape and strawberry-flavoured cigarettes were also banned -- because it allowed menthol-laced tobacco to stay on the market.

The WTO found in favour of Indonesias claims that allowing domestically-made menthol cigarettes and not its clove-laced cigarettes was discriminatory.

We will seek compensation. The proce-dure under the WTO is if one country ignores

the recommendation suggested by the dispute panel, compensation should be discussed, trade ministry director general of international trade cooperation Iman Pambagyo told AFP.

Its baffling how the US, which is always demanding other countries to abide by WTO dis-ciplines and regulations, is now unable to correct its policy, which is clearly in violation of WTO provisions, Pambagyo said in a statement.

Pambagyo said the ministry had not decided how much compensation it would seek, but that it would reflect losses, estimated at between $200 million and $300 million annually.

Indonesia claimed that the livelihoods of over six million citizens depended directly or indirect-ly on the production of clove-laced tobacco.

While the WTO ruled the ban was discrimi-natory, it threw out Indonesias suggestion that a ban on flavoured tobacco in general was un-necessary, calling the US effort to curb youth smoking legitimate.

The Indonesian ambassador in Cairo continued to report the progress of situation including efforts to secure the Indonesian nationals there, the head of state said.

Apart from that, President Yud-hoyono also urged the United Nations (U.N.) to be involved in mediating conflict in Egypt to prevent further casualties.

I think the solution is a compro-mise between the two parties and not the winner takes all. The U.N. and the world should encourage and sup-port (the compromise), the president

the U.N. takes an initiative to prevent greater bloodshed.

All efforts should be taken in-cluding reconciliation, the president said.

We are concerned with the devel-opment of situation in Egypt. If there is no wise and immediate solution, the terrible horizontal conflict is feared to happen, he said.

Political development in Egypt in the recent weeks tend to worsen and leads to conflicts between members of the community as supporters of the former President Mursi and the military.

Casualties continue to fall due to the clash that occurred particularly in Cairo.

JAKARTA - Police detained four Indonesians allegedly involved in ar-ranging an Australian-bound refugee boat which sank earlier this week, killing at least 15 people, a local police official said Saturday.

The four men were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday in two nearby cities after the boat sank off the southwestern coast of Java island Tuesday, killing among them six children and a pregnant woman, the Cianjur city police chief Dedy Kusuma Bakti said.

The four helped arrange the boat trip. They are part of a people smug-gling syndicate. Some of them had organised several boat trips to Austra-lia, he said, adding that they could be charged with people smuggling which carries a jail sentence of between five and 15 years under the countrys im-

migration law.The number on the overloaded boat

was unclear. Police have said around 200 were aboard, but an asylum-seeker has said 250 people made the perilous journey.

Rescuers have saved 189 asylum seekers which included Iranians and Sri Lankans and the search effort con-tinued Saturday, rescue operation chief Rochmali, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, said. Australian authorities alerted Indonesia of the incident Tuesday evening, just days after Canberra announced that asylum-seekers who arrive by boat would no longer be resettled in Australia even if they secure refugee status.

An AFP reporter who spoke to sur-vivors on Wednesday said one group of 38, including women and children, had swum in darkness for up to four hours in high seas to reach the shore Tuesday night.

Francis headed into the final hours of his first international trip riding a remarkable wave of popu-larity: By the time his open-sided car reached the stage for the vigil service Saturday night, the back seat was piled high with soccer jerseys, flags and flowers tossed to him by adoring pilgrims lining the beachfront route.

Im trembling, look how good you can see him! gushed Fiorella Dias, a 16-year-old Brazilian who jumped for joy as she reviewed the video she shot as the pope passed by. I have got to call my mother!

The vigil drew a reported 3 million flag-waving, rosary-toting faithful, who overflowed Copa-cabana beachs 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) of white sand on the final evening of World Youth Day. The attendance figure, given by local media citing the mayors office, is higher than the 1 million at the last World Youth Day vigil in Madrid in 2011, and far more than the 650,000 at Torontos 2002 vigil.

Many of those watching the vigil had tears in their eyes as they listened to Francis call for them

to build up their church like his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, was called to do.

Jesus offers us something big-ger than the World Cup! Francis said, drawing cheers from the crowd in this soccer-mad nation.

On the beach, pilgrims staked out their spots on the sand, lounged and snacked, preparing for the all-night slumber party ahead of Sundays Mass. Francis leaves Brazil Sunday evening.

At church, it can be a bit tedious, but here its amazing, marveled Anna Samson, a 21-year-old college senior from Long Beach, California.

Seeing the pope, seeing the Stations of the Cross acted out live, seeing all these young people from all over, she said as she and two friends plied the beach in search of a place to spread their sleeping bags. Its overwhelm-ing, just amazing. Rios mayor has estimated that as many as 3 million people might turn out for Sundays Mass.

Saturday nights vigil capped a busy day for the pope in which he drove home a message he has emphasized throughout the

week in speeches, homilies and off-the-cuff remarks: the need for Catholics, lay and religious, to shake up the status quo, get out of their stuffy sacristies and reach the faithful on the margins of society or risk losing them to rival churches.

In the longest and most im-portant speech of his four-month pontificate, Francis took a di-rect swipe at the intellectual message of the church that so characterized the pontificate of his predecessor, Benedict XVI. Speaking to Brazils bishops, he said ordinary Catholics simply dont understand such lofty ideas and need to hear the simpler message of love, forgiveness and mercy that is at the core of the Catholic faith.

At times we lose people be-cause they dont understand what we are saying, because we have forgotten the language of simplic-ity and import an intellectualism foreign to our people, he said. Without the grammar of sim-plicity, the church loses the very conditions which make it possible to fish for God in the deep waters of his mystery.

RIO DE JANEIRO - Pilgrims staked out spots on the sand of Copacabana beach for an all-night slumber party ahead of the final Mass of Pope Francis stay in Brazil, a trip that has drawn rapturous crowds of up to 3 million faithful.

At least 18 people have died and dozens more fallen ill after drinking contaminated alcohol in Pakistan, officials said. The victims, believed to be mostly Muslim and Christian labourers, consumed the toxic drink at two parties in the central city of Faisalabad.

Only non-Muslims are allowed to buy and consume alcohol in Pakistan, but many people illegally brew alcohol at home.

The provincial governor has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Victims fainted after drinking the alcohol at a birthday party and another private event in Faisalabad, authorities said.

Most reportedly died before they could be rushed to hospital. The death toll from the two parties has reached 18, senior police official Javed Ahmed Khan told the AFP news agency.

Around two dozens others are heavily affected by the toxic liquor and battling for consciousness.

Drinkers often buy illegal liquor because legal wine shops are closed during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Locally brewed alcohol has been traditionally available in two forms - kuppi and tharra- in Pakistan. Buyers are said to often mix the two, leading to a more potentially lethal drink.

Victims daughter: I heard 15 to 20 shots A gunman holding hostages in a building near Miami in the US state of Florida killed six people before being shot dead by police, officials say.

Officers stormed the block of flats in Hialeah, north of Miami, on Saturday morning after a stand-off lasting several hours. Two hostages were freed unharmed, police said.

Five of the victims were found inside the complex. Another man was killed while walking across a street outside.

Police were called after shots were fired on Friday evening. They said gunman Pedro Vargas, 43, set his apartment on fire. When the building manager and his wife noticed the smoke and ran to his apartment, he shot them dead. The couples daughter Shamira Piscotti said: I heard about 15 to 20 shots and so I went outside. My neighbours were screaming that my parents had been shot. I guess there was an altercation and the person opened fire on both of them.

The attacker went on to kill a man walking in the street and a family of three who lived downstairs, police said. He is then believed to have barricaded himself in a flat and taken two people hostage.

Police moved in after almost eight hours of negotiations, local media said. They made the decision to go in there and save and rescue the hostages, Sgt Eddie Rodriguez told the Associated Press.

A 9mm pistol was found at the scene. Police say there was no clear motive for the shooting and they are still investigating the circumstances.

ReutersTUNIS - Tunisian police fired tear gas in front of parliament on Saturday

to disperse secular protesters demanding the dissolution of the assembly and Islamists defending the legitimacy of their rule.

Police began firing after the arrival of thousands of opposition protesters who had been attending the funeral of the assassinated secular politician Mohamed Brahmi, a Reuters reporter said. Protesters threw stones back at police and there were several injuries.

Among those wounded was an opposition lawmaker from the same party as Brahmi. Secular opposition parties are demanding the dissolution of the Islamist-led government and parliament, known as the constituent assembly, which has been tasked with drafting a new constitution.

The people want to topple the regime! and With our blood and with our souls we will sacrifice ourselves for the martyr! people in the crowd shouted. Ghannouchi, assassin, criminal, others chanted, referring to Ra-ched Ghannouchi, leader of the ruling Islamist Ennahda party that Brahmis family blames for the killing. Ghannouchi has denounced Thursdays assas-sination as an attack on the countrys tumultuous process of transition from autocratic regime to democratic state.

Cibulkova coasted past Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-0 in the Bank of the West Classic semifinals Saturday. A few hours later, the top-seeded Radwanska overcame a shaky start to beat American Jamie Hampton 6-3, 6-2 with relative ease.

The third-seeded Cibulkova has won twice on tour and last advanced to a final in January in Sydney, where she lost 6-0, 6-0 to Radwanska. It was the first whitewash in a final since November 2006 and the first in Cibulkovas career.

Tennis is a lot about mentally, Cibulkova said. If you will see that match, you will not believe it can be like that because I was putting pressure all the time. All the first six or seven games of that match I had game point or break point, and I just couldnt make it. It was like something really bad was happening. I was down 6-0, 3-0 and I was only thinking about one thing - just to make one game, and it didnt happen. It was really bad. Now Cibulkova will have a chance for a double-dose of redemption.

Radwanska, ranked No. 4 in the world, has 12 singles titles - including 10 on hard court. She won back-to-back tournaments at Auckland and

Sydney to start the year and hadnt advanced to a final since she crushed Cibulkova down under.

Radwanska regrouped against Hampton after dropping her serve twice in the first set, breaking back in the following game both times. The Wimbledon semifinalist earned the decisive break at 5-3 by forcing Hampton to sail a backhand long.

The smooth-swinging Polish player put away the match with an overhead winner for a service break at 2-1 in the second set, then pushed Hamp-ton - who beat her earlier this year at Eastbourne - around the court to grab the next three games and set up a finals rematch she believes will offer more drama than earlier this year.

Didnt really expect that, espe-cially in the final, Radwanska said. She was playing great matches in Sydney and then suddenly I think she was a little bit too nervous in the final. And then game by game she was get-ting (frustrated) too much. But I dont think shes the kind of player that can do that again. Cibulkovas game has seemed to come a long way the last seven months.

In the semifinals, Cibulkova con-trolled the pace and played patient and

near-perfect tennis against an oppo-nent who folded fast. The third-seeded Cibulkova saved all six break points in the first set and often stayed back on the baseline waiting for Cirstea to make mistakes.

The approach helped Cibulkova go ahead 5-3 in the first set and sweep the second set to cruise into the final on the sun-splashed Stanford campus. Cibulkova has played the event the past six years and had never advanced past the semifinals, even losing to Cirstea in the quarterfinals a year ago.

This time, her penetrating strokes had Cirstea constantly on the move. The hard-hitting Cibulkova forced her to net a forehand, then hit a backhand wide for a break at 4-3 before holding off five breaks alone in her next service game to take command. With one defeat avenged, Cibulkova now has a shot for another in consecutive days.

Cibulkova, No. 25 in the world rankings, won in Carlsbad last year and in Moscow in 2011 for her only WTA titles. But the loss in Sydney had her questioning herself for weeks.

It really affected my game for a few tournaments after, she said. It was a pretty bad experience. When I came to the Australian Open, the first match I was just thinking, OK, you have to make a game now because its really important. It wasnt easy. It kept coming back to me a few tournaments, but I think its over.

Usain Bolt wins the 100m Bolts 2012 Olympic record of 9.63 seconds in the 100m final was not his fastest 100m sprint. Scientists say they can explain Usain Bolts extraordinary speed with a mathematical model. His 100m time of 9.58 seconds during the 2009 World Championships in Berlin is the current world record.

They say their model explains the power and energy he had to expend to overcome drag caused by air resistance, made stronger by his frame of 6ft 5in. Writing in the European Journal of Physics, the team hope to discover what makes extraordinary athletes so fast.

According to the mathemati-cal model proposed, Bolts time of 9.58 seconds in Berlin was achieved by reaching a speed of 12.2 metres per second, equivalent to about 27mph.

Less dynamicThe team calculated that Bolts

maximum power occurred when he was less than one second into the race and was only at half his maximum speed. This demon-strates the near immediate effect of drag, which is where air resistance slows moving objects.

They also discovered less than 8% of the energy his muscles pro-duced was used for motion, with the rest absorbed by drag.

SAN ANTONIO - Jesus Soto Karass stopped Andre Berto with a left hook in the 12th round of their welterweight fight Saturday night, possibly ending Bertos once-promising career.

Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18 KOs) surged in the fight from the fourth round as Berto began to lose effec-tiveness from his dominant right side. Though Berto (28-3) floored Soto Karass with a left-hand body shot in the 11th, Berto couldnt sustain the rally.

In the fourth round I tore (something) in my shoulder, Berto said. Im a warrior. I dont

quit. Im always going to put it all on the line.

By the end of the 11th, Soto Karass recovered from the knock-down and bloodied Bertos lip, and the Mexican ended it on a techni-cal knockout with the left hand 48 seconds into the final round. The referee stopped the fight immedi-ately when Berto hit the mat - to Bertos dismay.

Soto Karass led on one card, Berto on another, and the third judge had it even. I thought I was winning the fight, Soto Karass said. But my corner told me to go with everything. I had to go with the knockout to avoid any problems with the judges.

In a hugely entertaining en-counter between the two teams who contested the Champions League final two months ago, Dortmund looked to have lost none of their sharpness while Bayern were badly missing injured winger Franck Ribery and keeper Manuel Neuer.

Dortmund, who played second fiddle to treble winners Bayern in all competitions last season, got off to a perfect start when Reus headed in for the lead in the sixth minute after Bayern keeper Tom Starke failed to hold on to a Sven Bender header.

The Bavarians, with coach Pep Guardiola on the bench for his first competitive game, levelled eight minutes after the restart when

Philipp Lahm floated a perfect cross from the right and Arjen Robben headed in at the far post.

But Dortmund struck twice in two minutes with Daniel van Buyten heading in an own goal in the 55th from an Ilkay Guendogan cross. The Germany international then gave the hosts a two-goal cushion with a fine solo effort and well-struck curled shot from the edge of the box.

Robben cut the deficit seven minutes later, picking up yet another Lahm assist to turn and drill in for his second goal of the evening but new Dortmund sign-ing Emerick Aubameyang set up Reus for his second to complete a successful start to the season in the 86th.

CHICAGO Burned out and exhausted from more than a decade as the standard bearer for the U.S. football team, Landon Donovan needed a break.

For four months last winter, football was the last concern for the Americans career scoring leader. He spent time with fam-ily and friends, making up for all those holidays and get-togethers he missed over the years. He traveled to far-flung places, reveling in his respite from the harsh glare of the spotlight.

And somewhere along the way, he rediscovered his love for the game hed been so desperate to escape.

The rejuvenated Donovan is a big reason the Americans are in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final Sunday, where theyll face Panama. He has five goals in five games, tied for a tournament high, and seven assists. Those 12 goals are one more than Panamas entire team has scored; the Americans lead the tournament with a total of 19 goals.

Ive enjoyed myself tremen-dously, Donovan said Saturday. Ive enjoyed helping with the younger guys. Ive enjoyed being a part of team that really doesnt have ego, thats really excited about this opportunity. Its been really fun to be a part of, and Ive enjoyed it a lot.

Donovan wasnt enjoying much after helping the Los Angeles Gal-axy win their second straight MLS title on Dec. 1.

Saddled with the title of best player the U.S. has ever produced since he scored twice at the 2002 World Cup, helping fuel the Ameri-cans stunning run to the quarter-finals and earning him best young player of the tournament honors, nothing Donovan did was ever good enough. Though the entire U.S. team was dismal at the 2006 World Cup, he took the brunt of the criticism. He was the hero four years later after his spectacular goal against Algeria in stoppage time lifted the Americans into the knockout round, only to hear more grumbling when the Americans lost to Ghana.

His early failures in Germany only fueled the negativity, and his success with the Galaxy was over-shadowed by the arrival of David Beckham.

testimonial game against current club Al Sadd. Raul played in the first half for the Qatari side and then j o i n e d former teammates for the sec-ond before a sellout c r o w d of 61,973.

Raul played two seasons for the German side a f t e r joining from Real Madr id in 2010, scoring 28 goals in 67 Bundesliga games, before joining Al Sadd last year.

The 36-year-old remains the Champions Leagues all-time top scorer with 71 goals. He won the competition three times with Madrid, where he scored 323 goals in 741 games.

Rauls return was the highlight of Schalkes official start to the season. The club says an estimated 100,000 fans turned up for festivities out-side the stadium.

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has com-pleted his 34.5m move to Napoli. The Argentina international, 25, has been heavily linked with Arsenal this summer, but has signed a reported five-year contract with the Serie A club.

A statement on Napolis website said: Na-poli have made the signing of Gonzalo Higuain official.

Liverpools 30-year-old goalkeeper Pepe Reina has also passed a medical as he prepares to link up with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez at Napoli on loan. Benitez has been looking to replace Edinson Cavani, who has joined Paris St-Germain.

He said: We have signed a player who comes from Real Madrid and we have signed a striker who has scored a hatful of goals and who will

adapt very well to our system - an attacking system. We needed a player like this.

We are all working together to ensure the players we want arrive. We have to sign players who will do well for Napoli for the next three or four years.

Higuain joined Real from River Plate in 2006 and scored 107 league goals in his seven seasons at the Bernabeu.

Napoli, last seasons Serie A runners-up, have al-ready signed Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon and defender Raul Albiol, in addition to winger Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven, this summer.

Players who come from clubs like Real, PSV and Liverpool can only do us good, Benitez said. For Napoli these signings represent a quantum leap.
