Out of the ten New Films Awarded Production Grants awarded by the Global Film Initiative, two are for EAVE projects:

- EAVE 2011 project ALI, THE GOAT, AND IBRAHIM (ALI ME'AZA), director: Ibrahim El Batout, producers: EAVE 2011 participant Hossam Elouan, EAVE 2003 graduate Guillaume de Seille, Egypt/FranceTwo neighbours--a sound engineer plagued by strange noises and a man convinced that his deceased fiancé has been reincarnated as a goat--embark on an unusual trip to Egypt's coastline to cure themselves of their eccentric afflictions.

- EAVE PUENTES 2010 project LA RUTA DE LA LUNA, director : Juan Sebastián Jácome, producer: EAVE PUENTES 2010 graduate Irina ,Caballero, PanamaAn albino hoping to compete in a bowling tournament in Panama sets out on a roadtrip through Costa Rica with his once-estranged father, only to be sidetracked by a free-spirited hitchhiker who unexpectedly changes the fate of both men and their relationship. www.globalfilm.org

The German-French Commission is funding five projects with 1.135.000 Euro. Three films are co-productions with EAVE graduates:

- HINTER DER SPITZE - TOUR DU FASO by Wilm Huygen, produced by EAVE 1994 Franck Schneider of La Huit, Paris and Augenschein Filmproduktion of Cologne receives 100.000 Euro.

- FRIENDS FROM FRANCE by Anne Weil and Philippe Kotlarski, German producer: EAVE 2009 graduate Hanneke van der Tas (vandertastic) and Les Films du Poisson of Paris is funded with 270.000 Euro.

- SYNGUE SABOR - STEIN DER GEDULD by Atiq Rahimi, producers: EAVE 2009 graduate Verona Meier (Razor Film Produktion), Berlin and The Film, Paris gets 160.000 Euro.

- OUR CHILDREN by Joachim Lafosse is in pre-production. Producers: EAVE 2000 graduate Jacques-Henri Bronckart (Versus Production), EAVE 1992 graduate and group leader Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film). Co-production companies are MK2, Prime Time, RTBF - Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française and Box Productions. The film is inspired by the true story of a mother who murdered her five children before attempting suicide. Support comes from: Wallimage, Media Development Fund, Belgian French Community, Inver Invest Tax Shelter, Film Fund Luxembourg, Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF) and Swiss Federal Office of Culture (BAK). Shooting on locations is planned from May 23, to the end of July 2011. www.versusproduction.be

- PAINLESS by Juan Carlos Medina is in pre-production. The psychological thriller is co-produced by EAVE 2001 graduate Gonçalo Galvão Teles. Production companies: Les Films D'Antoine, Roxbury Pictures, Fado Filmes and Tobina Films. The film with a budget of ?3.2m is financed with support of Canal +, Eurimages, ICAA, ICIC (Institut Catala de les Indústries Culturals), Ibermedia, Televisio de Catalunya, Backup Films and Instituto Do Cinema E Do Audiovisual. - OFF DUTY by Frédéric Fonteyne is in pre-production. The film about a woman who visits her husband and lover in the same jail cell is produced by EAVE 1992 graduate and group leader Jani Thiltges (Samsa Film), EAVE 2006 graduate Tomas Leyers (Minds Meet), Liaison Cinematographique and Artemis Productions. - GALLOPING MIND by Wim Vandekeybus, co-producer: EAVE 2009 graduate Peter Bouckaert (Eyeworks) has been granted first feature production support by the film commission of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF). Co-producers are Climax Films (Belgium), Sciapode (France), Visual Kitchen (South Africa) and Busse & Halberschmidt Filmproduktion (Germany). Principal shooting will be in South Africa in autumn 2012. www.eyeworks.be

- JUMP by Kieron J. Walsh, producer: EAVE 2005 graduate Katie Holly is in production. The film follows the trials and tribulations of three unrelated groups of characters on New Year's Eve whose lives turn out to be intertwined. Support comes from Irish Film Board, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland, Firefly Film Sales and Bentico Trading Limited. JUMP is being shot on locations in Derry and Belfast.www.blinderfilms.com

- 360 by Fernando Mereilles, co-producer: EAVE 1992 graduate Danny Krausz starts shooting on locations in London, Paris, Vienna and Brazil starts on March 21. Production companies are Fidélité Films, Revolution Films, DOR Film and O2 Filmes. 360, starring Anthony Hopkins, Jude Law and Rachel Weisz, tells several stories, linking characters from different cities and countries and offers a unique snapshot of love and interconnectivity in the twenty first century. www.dor-film.at

- CIRCLES by Srdan Golubovic, co-producer: EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar (Emotionfilm) is shooting on locations in Trebinje (Belgrade) and Halle (Germany) in March and April. Co-produced by Neue Mediopolis and Propeler Film, CIRCLES tells the story of a Serbian soldier who is killed trying to save the life of a Muslim citizen. The film has a budget of $1.8m. Support comes from Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), ARTE and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. http://www.emotionfilm.si

- LA VIE D'UNE AUTRE by Sylvie Testud started shooting her debut directorial feature on April 4. Co-produced by EAVE 1991 graduate Paul Thiltges, the film stars Juliette Binoche as a woman who has forgotten 12 years of her life and tries to find out why, with only four days to make up for her mistakes and regain her family's love. The cast also includes Mathieu Kassovitz and Aure Atika. Production Companies: Canal+, Ciné Cinéma, Saga Film and ARP Sélection. The film has a budget of $6.5m and is shot in Paris, Belgium, Luxembourg from April 4 to April 27. www.ptd.lu

- MAUVAISES HERBES by Safy Nebbou is shooting in France and Belgium. Production companies: Artemis Productions, EAVE 1992 graduate and group leader Jani Thiltges' Samsa Film, France 3 Cinema and Diaphana. The film is based on Boileau-Narcejac's novel L'âge Bête (The Stupid Age) that tells the story of two teenagers who kidnap their teacher. The film has a budget of ? 6m. www.samsa-film.com

- SHELL, produced by EAVE 2003 graduate David Smith of Brocken Spectre is shooting this month.www.brocken-spectre.com

- THE KNOT, produced by EAVE 2006 graduate Enrico Tessarin from Pinch Media, co-produced by EAVE 2006 graduates Nuno Bernardo and Triona Campbell from beActive entertainment commenced shooting on March 28 on locations across London. The film, directed by up and coming director and 'Screen International Star of tomorrow' Jesse Lawrence, is a romantic comedy starring a host of British and American acting talent, including Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie), Talulah Riley (St Trinian's, Pride & Prejudice), Matthew McNulty (Control, Looking for Eric) Noel Clarke (Centurion, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll), Jason Maza (Fish Tank, Shifty) and Juliet Oldfield (Bronson). THE KNOT is co-written by Davie Fairbanks, Geoff Carino and BAFTA award winning actor, writer and director Noel Clarke. It tells the story of soulmates Alexandra and Jeremy who are

getting married. At least that's the plan. Unfortunately for them, nonchalant best man Peter, bridesmaid Sarah and an army of naysayers haven't heard they're meant to be together. - THE WOMAN WHO BRUSHED OFF HER TEARS by Teona Strugar Mitevska, producer: EAVE 2008 graduate and Macedonian National Coordinator Labina Mitevska is currently shooting. The film is co-produced by EAVE 2008 graduate Guido Schwab and EAVE 2010 graduate Marcel Lenz of ostlicht filmproduktion, EAVE group leader Danijel Hocevar of Vertigo Film, EAVE 1994 graduate Diana Elbaum and EAVE 2003 graduate Sébastian Delloye of Entre Chien et Loup. Support comes from Macedonia Film Fund, Slovenian Film Fund, Viba Film, MDM in Germany, the Belgium Tax Shelter and Eurimages. EAVE Film Finance Forum: participants from 25 count ries

The annual EAVE Film Finance Forum took place in Luxembourg from March 31 - April 3, in partnership with the Film Fund Luxembourg. EAVE welcomed in the Grand Duchy 30 producers and industry professionals from 25 different countries. Thanks to the support of MEDIA Mundus, 8 professionals from Argentina, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, India, Russia, Singapore, and South Africa) participated in the Forum. The 2011 EAVE Film Finance Forum experts Head of Studies Christian Kmiotek (Samsa Film, LU), Christophe Bruncher (Les Films de la Butte, FR), Carl Clifton (K5 International, UK), Joachim Knaf (Hochschule für Film- und Fernsehen "Konrad Wolf", DE), Maud Leclair (BNP Paribas, FR), Joëlle Levie (OLFFI, FR), Stefan Rüll (Rüll Law Office, DE), Mathias Schwerbrock (Film Base Berlin, DE) and Bernhard Stampfer (BS Media Finance Advisory, DE) shared their expertise in plenary sessions and private tutorials with the participants. The sessions covered comprehensively questions of film financing, film economy, consumer behavior, sales and distribution, bank related issues, revenue and legal aspects.www.eave.org

Puentes 2011 - first workshop in Buenos Aires!

Following the success of the first two editions, PUENTES features in 2011 two workshops again: the first one in Buenos Aires that has just taken place during BAFICI (Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente) parallel to the Buenos Aires Lab from April 7- 11, 2011 and the second one in Gijón during Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón from November 21 - 24, 2011.

PUENTES brings together five producers with feature projects from Latin America and five from Europe. During the two workshops they work together with 'state of the art' experts from both continents on script development, co-production between Latin America and Europe, financing in the two regions, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching and promotion, and meet with decision makers during both sessions.

Call for entry for the first edition 2011 of the Ey e on Films (EoF)

Created in January 2011, Eye on Films is a unique, global network of film professionals, which guarantees the circulation of a selection of first feature films in festivals partners in Europe and third countries, and the commercial exploitation of these films by distribution partners in Europe and third countries. EoF is a project developed by Wide Management, a leading independent sales company, representing a library of more than 600 titles, features and documentaries, with a catalogue containing an impressive variety of movies from internationally acclaimed directors.

Paris Cinema IFF's co-production and development pl atform - July 4 to 7, 2011

Paris Project is the co-production and development platform of Paris Cinema International Film Festival. It is a four days event, taking place early July, that brings together around twelve international projects in development and a few films in postproduction, that are looking for French and European potential partners (such as co-producers, sales agents, distributors, financers.).

The ambition of Paris Project is to gather key players in the French and European film industry, around a few high quality international production projects that are not yet finalised. Help shape the future of MEDIA MUNDUS

The European Commission is inviting responses to an online public consultation on the future of MEDIA Mundus. The purpose of the consultation is to gather opinions regarding the provision of an international co-operation programme from audiovisual professionals in Europe and beyond, with a view to shaping a 'new MEDIA Mundus' for 2014 onwards. The online consultation is just one part of a wider public consultation, responses to which will be taken into account in the Commission's proposal for a new MEDIA Mundus programme (to be adopted by the European Parliament and European Council), following an assessment of possible social, economic and environmental impacts. The consultation is open to individual citizens, public and private bodies, local/regional authorities, ministries and relevant stakeholders in the audiovisual sector, both inside and outside the EU. The consultation is available online and only takes a few minutes to complete.

The deadline to respond is 23 May 2011.
