We spark imaginative learning when school is out! These hands-on, one-hour science programs are themed around a particular area of science. Children engage in exciting hands-on activities, watch spectacular demonstrations, participate in inquiry-based discussions and take home things that they have made themselves. Mad Science after-school programs offer children a chance to see just how cool science can be!

Kindergarten-5th Grade Earthworks: What better planet to explore than the one we live on! In this class, students will become junior geologists and dig into Earth Science! They'll journey to the center of the Earth to explore the various layers of the planet, examine rock samples to learn about their development and formation and learn the science behind earthquakes and volcanoes! After this class, it'll be easy to see why geology "rocks!" Movie Effects: Grab your popcorn, but don't sit back and relax! Movie Effects will give students the opportunity to sit in the director's seat and discover how science is the real star on the big screen! They'll learn first-hand how advances in science and technology make their favorite special effects possible! From the chemistry of movie snow to the acoustics of Foley artists sound effects, it's Einstein meets Spielberg in a class of 3...2...1...action! Living in Space: Aspiring astronauts will BLAST off on a mission to investigate life in space! As part of their training, they'll try out the special adaptations needed to survive in space and learn about unique mission training techniques! They'll then use their new skills and knowledge to form a mission control team that must race to repair a circuit in space! Atmosphere and Beyond: Prepare to journey through the Earth's atmosphere-and beyond! Students will discover the properties of the air around us and what it takes to make a planet viable for life as we know it! They'll compare the composition of Earth's atmosphere with other planets, explore and learn to recreate the optics of a sunset and then participate in a challenge to lead a fellow astronaut in an underwater mission! Current Event: This electrifying class will get students charged up about the science of current electricity! They learn how tiny invisible particles—electrons—power everything from the fridge to the radio and then work as a team to create real series and parallel circuits! Once they've become masters of circuitry, they'll discover they have the power to use their new skills to help solve some mysterious hidden connections! Forces: The force will be with them as students venture into Newton's neck of the woods! They'll be introduced to the pushes and pulls that make the universe tick as they experiment with gravity, inertia, and centripetal force! In exciting, hands-on investigations, they'll discover the hidden forces behind the Mad Science bike wheel gyroscope, a coin-spinning vortex, and more!
