  • Eagle Palm RequirementsAfter becoming an Eagle Scout, Scouts may earn Palms by completing the following requirements:

    1.) Be active in your troop and patrol for at least three months after becoming an Eagle Scout or after award of last Palm.

    2.) Demonstrate Scout spirit by living the Scout Oath and Scout Law in your everyday life. 3.) Make a satisfactory effort to develop and demonstrate leadership ability.

    4.) Earn five additional merit badges beyond those required for Eagle or last Palm. Merit badges earned any time since becoming a Boy Scout may be used to meet this requirement. 5.) Take part in a Scoutmaster conference. 6.) Complete your board of review.

  • How To Wear Eagle PalmsYou may wear only the proper combination of Palms for the number of merit badges you earned beyond the rank of Eagle. The Bronze Palm represents five merit badges, the Gold Palm 10, and the Silver Palm 15.

  • How To Wear Eagle PalmsHOW TO WEAR EAGLE PALMS

    Eagle Palms are worn on the Eagle Badge or on the Medal Ribbon. Adults can wear the Palms on the Eagle Square Knot patch or on the Medal Ribbon on formal occasions.

    If a Scout earns:

    Bronze wear it. Gold wear only the gold. Silver wear only the silver.

    Another Bronze wear bronze and silver. Another Gold wear gold and silver.Another Silver wear two silvers.

    Another Bronze wear bronze and two silvers. Another Gold wear gold and two silvers. Another Silver wear three silvers.

    Beyond that continue in the same manner. NEVER wear more than one Bronze or Gold Palm at any time, or Bronze and Gold Palms together.

    *Next add your address, phone, troop information, and appropriate dates and check boxes in the top half of the front page*Include names, addresses, and phone numbers of people who you have asked to be your references. You must include your parents, a religious reference (If you dont belong to a formal religious institution, you can have your parents do this too), an educational reference, your employer or work supervisor if you have a paying job, and two other personal references.*Start filling in the merit badge section by listing the dates for those merit badges you had when you completed your STAR Board of Review. There should be dates listed for at least 6 badges, including dates for at least 4 badges in the first twelve. Cross out the names of badges you didnt earn in boxes 6 & 9 If you had both Emergency Preparedness and Lifesaving at that point, list one of them in box 6 , cross out the other in box 6 and list the name and date for other one in the first empty box. Similarly, if you had Hiking, Cycling and/or Swimming, list one of them in box 9 and the other(s) in the next empty box. Include the names and dates for any others you had at that time in boxes 13-21.*Continue filling in the merit badge section by listing the dates for those merit badges you had when you completed your LIFE Board of Review. There should now be dates listed for at least 11 badges, including dates for at least 7 badges in the first twelve. Again, if you havent already done so, cross out the names of badges you didnt earn in boxes 6 & 9. And, once more, if you have earned both Emergency Preparedness and Lifesaving, and/or have earned Hiking, Cycling and/or Swimming, list one of each group in boxes 6 and 9, cross out the others, and then add other(s) back onto the list in the next empty boxes.*Finish filling in the merit badge section by listing the dates for the rest of the merit badges you have earned (up to 21 total). There should now be dates listed for 21 badges, including dates for all of the first twelve. Once again, if you havent already done so, cross out the names of badges you didnt earn in boxes 6 & 9. And, once more, if you have earned both Emergency Preparedness and Lifesaving, and/or have earned Hiking, Cycling and/or Swimming, list one of each group in boxes 6 and 9, cross out the others, and then add other(s) back onto the list in the next empty boxes. Then include the names and dates for any others you have in boxes 13-21, so that youve listed a total of 21 badges.**On the back of the form, list date of your LIFE Board of Review (This date must match the date shown on the front page for requirement 1), and the positions of responsibility you have held since your LIFE Board of Review, and the dates you held those positions. The dates listed must include at least 6 months of cumulative service after your LIFE Board of Review. These dates need not be consecutive, and need not include any time in the most recent 6 months, so long as they are all after your LIFE Board of Review. Note that in the example on the screen, although the Scout served as APL starting on March 19th, the period from that date until his LIFE Board of Review on April 20th does NOT count toward meeting the requirement for Eagle.*Add the dates for Requirements 5 and 6 - Project completion date (which should be the same date as that shown in your project workbook), and Scoutmaster Conference date. All dates up to this point MUST be before your 18th birthday.

    Then sign and date the application. Note that this date (and all others below this point) CAN be on or after your 18th birthday.Present the completed application and project workbook to your unit leader (Scoutmaster, Varsity Team Coach, Sea Scout Ship Skipper, or Venturing Crew Advisor). Ask the Leader to sign and date the application, and then do the same for the Unit Committee Chair.

    Your Unit Leader or Advancement Chair will then submit the application to the Council Registrar, who will compare the information on the form to the Councils advancement records, then sign and date the form confirming that you are eligible for your Eagle Board of Review. The Registrar will then forward the application and Project Workbook to your District Advancement Committee, and someone from that committee will contact you and/or your Unit Leader to arrange a date, time, and place for the Board of Review.*After the Board of Review, the Chairman and District Representative will sign and date the application, and it will be returned to the Council office. The Council Scout Executive will sign and date the application and it will be transmitted to the National Court of Honor at the National Office.
