Quadrant SystemQuadrant System• Letters designate the building sides. The side

of the structure where staging is located is usually designated as Side Alpha (unless otherwise designated)

• Divisions designate floor levels.(Ex. Floor number 2 would be called Division 2)

• Side designations go in a clockwise direction.• All Quadrants should be stated with alpha

numeric to make radio traffic clear.Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot

Giving a PAR and a CAN• _____________________________________________________________________________________• PAR- Personnel Accountability Report

-When giving PAR you must advise LUNA to give the Incident Commander all the information needed to operate and safe and effective scene.-PAR should be requested every 10 to 15 minutes or when safety conditions have changed.-For instance: if Interior team 1 had a 4 person crew assigned to a fire attack on the first floor of Bonner dormitory, and the Incident Command designation is Bonner Command a PAR would work like the example stated below (ex: Interior 1; Bonner Command PAR – Bonner Command; Interior 1 PAR of 4 located Division 1, Quadrant Alpha, Saxton, Paw-Paw, Washington, and Farley performing fire attack.)

• CAN- Conditions Actions and NeedsBecause IC is supposed to be in a stationary location his eyes and ears are the ones of the crew performing the task at hand. In order for the IC to make correct decisions he/she must be aware of the conditions of the scene. A “CAN” report is used to obtain the info needed. (Ex: Interior 1; Bonner Command CAN- Bonner Command; Interior 1 we have heavy smoke and fire conditions. We are making progress with the attack. We need vertical ventilation performed.)Say no more than you need to say, but say no less than you need to say. A full PAR and CAN report should be done in 40 seconds give or take.

• When giving location always use Alpha Numeric designation to reduce confusion: (Ex A-Alpha, B-Bravo, C-Charlie, D-Delta, E-Echo, F-Foxtrot, G-Golf etc.)
