The Playful sophistication that is Healdsburg

The Most interesting Thing about Artists is how they live

-Marcel DuChamp

Sheltered by a grove of fifty year old olive trees, the Duchamp

Hotel has six luxurious, contemporary cottages with private

terraces surrounding the pool and gardens. Quiet and serene,

yet just two blocks to the Healdsburg Plaza, the Duchamp is as

though you have a private club in the heart of the wine

country. Arsty, ultra modern, spacious rooms Reviewed June 28, 2013

Staying here was a delightfully different experience, with the extremely spacious, minimalistic

and artfully appointed rooms in ultra modern style. The ginormous shower was big enough for

a room all by itself, as was the long bench style bathroom counter and mirror with dual sinks.

Books on the artist, after whom it was named, provided very interesting reading---there was

even an individually lighted reading nook. All this just a couple hundred feet walking distance

from the bakery and the main street of the town!

“Great night in Healdsburg” Reviewed June 20, 2013

We spent one night at Hotel Duchamp and found the room lovely and comfortable. We had

made some special requests and every one of them was taken care of before we arrived.

The grounds are an oasis of quiet. The shower was fantastic too. - New York Times: “Warhol didn’t sleep here but you can!”

- Conde Nast Traveler: “One of the world’s top 25 new hot hotels”

- Elle Magazine: “Soho in Sonoma County…sophisticated…

whimsical”

- San Francisco Examiner magazine: “Like a private residence.

Decadent!”

- Travel & Leisure: “ A minimalist’s dream come true”

- Los Angeles Magazine: “ Stylishly simple…immaculate!”

Awaiting your creativity… A great hotel will ascend

Design: The namesake and inspiration for the hotel was 20th

century artist Marcel Duchamp. Embodying the intellect of his

literary contemporaries Marcel Proust and James Joyce, Marcel

Duchamp (1887–1968) has been aptly described as a “one-

man movement”. It has been written of his work as the "field

where language, thought and vision act on one another."

Duchamp had a huge impact on twentieth-century art. By

World War I, he had rejected the work of many of his fellow

artists as "retinal" art, intended only to please the eye. Instead,

Duchamp wanted, he said, "to put art back in the service of the

mind."

In the spirit of Marcel Duchamp, the hotel has many art pieces

that echo his aesthetic.
