Keeping the community free from pet poop is as simple as the steps in the title of this article. With our pet waste bag dispensers and pet waste bins located across the community, it’s really easy to clean up after your pet. In fact, picking up after your pet is part of being a responsible pet owner. We encourage all residents to extend a helping hand in keeping the community a clean and hygienic place to live in. This is yet another initiative of the Interim Board.

Pet poops. Pick up. Drop.Sometimes, having a little extra space to store infrequently used items can be an advantage. And since we’ve received requests for onsite storage, we decided to install storage cages in the basement of each of the towers.

As a resident you can lease one of the community storage cages for a 12 month renewable period at a cost of AED 2,400 per year.

If you wish to lease one of the community storage cages, please visit the ECM office in Dubai Marina Walk, car park 2 to complete the application form. The following will be required:

• Title Deed OR Tenancy Contract• Passport/Visa copy• Cheque for the amount of AED 2,400

NOTE: Storage cages will not be provided to units with outstanding Community Service Fees.

Please also note that due to the large number of storage cages available, the Interim Board is considering using some of the space for the community, perhaps for office storage. Your feedback on this would be most helpful for the Interim Board to better understand the community requirements. Please write to [email protected]

Extra space available

We are constantly looking at ways to improve safety in our community. And we conduct regular inspections to ensure this. So when we noticed that the lifebuoys in our swimming pools were damaged and faded due to wear and tear, we decided to replace them. We never forget that your safety is our primary responsibility.

Safer community pools

As a resident, you have an important part to play in ensuring a clean and healthy environment. So when disposing of your rubbish, please make sure you seal it securely in a bag before putting it down the garbage chute, then check that the chute door is shut to ensure others can dispose of their rubbish on other floors.

The only exceptions to this are large items such as boxes, which can be flattened and left neatly inside the room for collection. Under no circumstances should hot cooking oil or lit cigarettes, ashes, matches or candles be thrown down the garbage chute, as any of these items could start a fire. If your domestic helper disposes of your garbage, please make sure that he or she is also aware of the correct way to use the chute.

Together we can all help to create a more hygienic environment in which to live and enjoy.

Meet the Interim BoardNo doubt you have heard of the fantastic proactive Interim Board for Dubai Marina Towers, but are you aware of the members that form the Interim Board of your community? Here are the details of the members that after their valuable time and effort:

Walter Riggans – Chairman of the Dubai Marina Towers Interim Board

Bimal Bhatia – Vice Chairman

Wendy Palmer – Interim Board member

Eithne Treanor – Interim Board member

Roberto Granello – Interim Board member

These five members volunteer their valuable time to assist us in maintaining the highest standards of quality. The Interim Board not only brings about initiatives for continuous community improvement but also reviews service related contracts with us to ensure costs are as per market rates and that the community receives the best value for money. Their input is extremely valuable and highly appreciated.

Pests are common in built up environments and have to be managed to ensure they are kept under control. For this reason pest control is regularly undertaken in the common areas of the community. However as a resident, you too have a responsibility to contribute to our overall efforts to keep pests at bay. This includes ensuring hygienic practices and regular pest treatment in your apartment.

We have been receiving several complaints regarding pests inside homes and urge you to perform pest control within your home on a regular basis. We encourage you to contact Dubai Municipality approved pest control service providers to treat your apartment and help keep your community pest free.

Community security

• When accessing the community at access controlled points, always ask the person/s behind you to use their own access card and not to follow you in.

• Ensure the access controlled doors are shut tight after you pass through.

• For ground floor apartments, ensure your garden gates are closed and locked when not in use.

• Do not allow any unauthorised persons to enter your home. Should there be a requirement for any contractor/engineer to access your unit, we will advise you in advance. Furthermore an authorised person will provide a work permit, identification and company verification. Please do not allow any person access to you home if the above are not provided.

Whilst your community has onsite security teams, CCTV surveillance and access controlled doors, we would like bring to your attention ways in which you can assist in ensuring your home and community is protected:

The Interim Board would like to advise that as of 31 January 2015, residents that do not yet have a community access card or do not display their access card on the windscreen of their vehicle with the provided cardholder, will not be provided vehicle access to the community.

Together with the Interim Board we have introduced the parking access card and windscreen cardholders in 2013 for ease of use and visibility of the community logo and parking bay number.

Since the introduction of these new access cards it has been identified that many residents:

1. Have not yet requested for the access card and are tailgating other vehicles for entry

2. Are not displaying the access card within the windscreen of their vehicle

3. Are not parking within the allocated parking space

We urge you to complete the relevant forms for your access card, if you do not already have one, and further to place the card within the card holder on the windscreen of your vehicle and park in your allocated parking bay. From 31 January 2015 onwards access will be restricted for those residents that do not abide.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Cleanup of access control system

Splish splashSwimming in the community pool will be even more fun now, as we’ve completed annual maintenance. During the maintenance process, we cleaned the deck, re-grouted the tiles, replaced faulty light fittings, underwater lamps and broken tiles, and painted the overflow grills.
