DTS Neural Surround™UpMixStereo to 5.1

DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix provides a process for taking anystereo signal and providing a 5.1 mix. True stereo signals (LR) areprocessed, giving a pleasing surround sound image. Matrix-encoded stereo signals (LtRt: Dolby® ProLogic®, Dolby® Prologic II®, SRSCircle Surround) are upmixed to a 5.1 surround sound image. Previously downmixed DTS Neural Surround (LtRt) signals are restored to theoriginal discrete 5.1 mix.

UpMix renders any two-channel audio source (stereo, matrix encoded stereo, Lt/Rt or DTS Neural Surround™ content) as surround sound.DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix positions individual elements within the surround field, creating unparalleled image stability and granularity.This patented approach avoids taking artistic license with content by placing audio exactly where it would be heard in a professional LEDE(live end dead end) listening environment.

Details

Mono or pan-pot stereo will image in front of the listener, whereas stereo containing depth information will surround the listener. TheUpMix can be used as a stand-alone unit to monitor stereo production or in tandem with the DownMix as a complete 5.1 transport solution.5.1 surround content that has been encoded by the DownMix will be reproduced just as it was heard in the original 5.1 mix. The DTS NeuralSurround DownMix/UpMix makes the surround sound transition simple and affordable within existing stereo production or broadcastenvironments.

The Selenio 6800+™ platform includes the all-in-one APM6803+ and DAPM6802+ Advanced Audio Processing modules.

There is a plug-in option available for adding the DownMix to the Selenio X50™ and Selenio X100™ video and audio processors.

The Selenio™ Media Convergence Platform supports DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix as well.

For applications where UpMix and loudness control are required, another version is available (see ordering information).
