Your computer just needs to be connected to the modem. - Open your Internet browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. and enter the IP address of your D-Link modem in the address bar: http://192.168.1.1. - When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the Log In button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin Slide 3 Slide 4 - You should now be presented with the modems configuration pages (Web-based Configuration): Slide 5 How to change Wireless Channel in your modem/router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the Log In button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin Slide 6 Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modems configuration pages. Please click on Setup > Wireless Setup > Manual Wireless Connection Setup button: Slide 7 Step 4. In the first section of the page [WIRELESS NETWORK SETTINGS], please un-check the Auto Channel Scan option. Then under Wireless Channel click on the drop down menu to select a channel number between 1 to 13. Slide 8 PLEASE MAKE SURE CLICK ON [Apply Settings] BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE TO SAVE THE SETTINGS. Slide 9 How do I connect my android device to my wireless network Note: These steps are for Android ver. 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Step 1: On your Android device, select the Settings icon. Slide 10 Step 2: Under Settings, choose Wi-Fi. Slide 11 Step 3: Select the Wi-Fi network name you want to connect to: Slide 12 Step 4: If the Wi-Fi network is password protected, type in your password and select Connect. Slide 30 Slide 31 How do I connect to a wireless network in Windows 8 There are two ways this can be done depending on whether you are using a touch screen or not using a touch screen: Option 1 Using a touch screen Step 1: From the desktop, move your cursor to the top right corner, this will bring up the CHARMS bar. Click on Settings. Slide 32 Step 2: Click on the Wireless Connection Icon Slide 33 Step 3: Select your network and click Connect Slide 34 Step 4: If the network is secured with a password, you will be prompted to enter it. Step 2: Click on the Wireless Icon in the bottom left corner of your screen (by the clock) Slide 36 Step 3: Select your wireless network and click Connect Slide 37 Step 4: If the network is secured with a password, you will be prompted to enter it. Enter the password and click Next Slide 38 How to open ports in your modem router firewall Please note: It is recommended to set the device you are opening ports for (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) with a static IP address. Please see your device instructions on how to manually set an IP address. Step 1. When prompted type in the Username and Password and then click on the Log In button. After logging in you will be presented with the modems configuration pages. Click on [ADVANCED] > [Virtual Server]: Slide 40 Step 3. Fill in the fields for a Virtual Servers List Entry (we are opening ports for Remote Desktop service as an example) - Service Ports: enter the port you want to open - Server IP: type in the IP address of the device you are opening ports for (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) - Server Port: same as Service Port - Protocol: select BOTH if not sure - Check the Enable box Step 4. After adding all the required rules click on the [Apply Settings] button at the bottom of the page. Slide 41 How to Refresh/Remove a Wireless Profile on your computer When you connect to a wireless network, the settings and profile of that specific network is saved on your computer so that you dont have to re-enter your Wi-Fi password every time you reconnect. Once your computer is in the range of the saved wireless network, it will automatically attempt to connect to that wireless network. If you have connected to various wireless networks before, your computer may have problems connecting wirelessly, especially when the wireless networks use the same names (SSID). Removing wireless network profiles on your computer may improve your wireless connectivity to your current wireless network. Please NOTE: Removing Wi-Fi network profiles cannot be undone. Make sure you know the wireless settings of your wireless network (your network name and Wi-Fi password) to be able to reconnect to it. Slide 42 How to refresh a Wireless Profile in Windows XP Step 1. Click on the Windows XP Start button: Step 2. Click on Settings > Control Panel: Slide 43 Step 3. Click on Network Connections: Step 4. Right click on your Wireless Network Connection and select Properties: Slide 44 Step 5. Choose Wireless Networks tab and select existing network in preferred networks, then click Remove. And click on OK. Now connect to the required Wireless Network manually and a fresh automatic profile will be created for this network. Slide 45 How to refresh a Wireless Profile in Windows 7 Step 1. Click on the Windows 7 Start button: Step 2. Select Control Panel. Step 3. Make sure your View by: is set to Category, and then click on Network and Internet: Slide 46 Step 4. Click on Network and Sharing Center: Step 5. Click on Manage wireless networks. Slide 47 Step 6. Select the network profile you wish to remove, make sure it is highlighted then click Remove. You can also right click on the network profile and click on Remove network Now connect to the required Wireless Network manually and a fresh automatic profile will be created for this network. Slide 48 How to refresh a Wireless Profile in Windows 8 Step 1. Left click on the Windows 8 network status icon : The icon is located at the right hand bottom corner of the screen Step 2. Highlight the wireless network that you wish to remove. Slide 49 Step 3. Right-click the network in the network list and click Forget this network. Now connect to the required Wireless Network manually and a fresh automatic profile will be created for this network. Slide 50 How to refresh a Wireless Profile in OS X Step 1. Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences Step 2. In the System Preferences menu, click on Network. Slide 51 Step 3. Click on the Advanced button. Slide 52 Step 4. Select the wireless profile you wish to remove under the Preferred Networks box, make sure it is highlighted then click the minus (-) button Now connect to the required Wireless Network manually and a fresh automatic profile will be created for this network Slide 53 How to Enable Wi-Fi Security in your modem/router Step 1. Open your Internet browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. and enter the IP address of your D-Link modem in the address bar: http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password and then click on the Log In button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin Slide 54 Step 2. After logging in you will be presented with the modems configuration pages. Please click on Setup tab, select Wireless Setup and then click on the [Manual Wireless Connection Setup] button. Slide 55 Step 3. For best security level set [Wireless Security Mode] as WPA-Personal. In the [WPA Mode] field select WPA2 only. Set [Cipher Type] as TKIP and AES. In the [Pre-Shared Key] field type the Wi-Fi password you want to use. (All devices connecting to your Wi-Fi for the first time would have to enter this password) Step 4. Click on the [APPLY SETTINGS] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings. Slide 56 How to Configure Your Modem Router Using Setup Wizard Please note: running the Setup Wizard is only required when you setting up your modem router for the first time. If you want to re-run the Setup Wizard it is recommended to reset the modem router to factory settings under Maintenance > Save/Restore Settings > Restore Device. Step 1. Open your Internet browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. and enter the IP address of your D-Link modem in the address bar: http://192.168.1.1 When prompted type in the Username and Password and then click on the Log In button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin Slide 57 Step 2. After logging in you will be presented with the modems configuration page (Setup > Internet Setup). ADSL Interface Setup - Click on the [Setup] button if your modem is connected to ADSL line. Ethernet WAN Interface Setup use this if your modem is connected to another modem (e.g. NBN). Slide 58 Slide 59 Step 3. Click on the [Setup Wizard] button. Slide 60 Step 4. The Setup Wizard will display the steps required to configure your modem router. Click the Next button: Step 5. Change the password that is used to access your modem router. Click the Next button. Slide 61 Step 6. Select your Time Zone. Click the Next button to continue. Step 7. Enter your Internet Provider details: select Country and your Internet Provider. If your provider is not listed, select Telstra BigPond. Providers in Australia typically use these settings: VPI: 8; VCI: 35; Connection Type: PPP over Ethernet Providers in New Zealand typically use these settings: VPI: 0; VCI: 100; Connection Type: PPP over ATM In the Username and Password field please type in your Internet account details as given by your Internet Service Provider. Slide 62 Click on the Next button. Step 8. In the [Wireless Network Name] field type in the name for your wireless network. Slide 63 Step 9. Select Security Mode for your Wireless Network. It is recommended to use BEST option. Step 10. In the [Wireless Security Password] field type in the password you want to use to access your Wi-Fi. Take a note of this password as you will need to enter it into all your devices trying to connect to your Wi-Fi network for the first time. Slide 64 Your modem routers Internet and Wireless configuration is now complete. Registration for mydlink Cloud Services is optional. To proceed with registration click on Next, otherwise click on Connect. Slide 65 How to Update Firmware in your modem/router Please note: Firmware update should always be done from a computer connected directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. It should not be performed via a wireless connection. Step 1. Download the latest firmware file for your modem router. Visit support.dlink.com.au web site, choose your router model and select Downloads. Download the appropriate firmware file to any folder on your computer, as soon as you can easily locate it. Step 2. Open the folder where you saved the firmware file. The file may come in two possible formats: if you hover your mouse over the file and it is reported as Compressed (zipped) Folder open the folder and Copy Paste the file inside it to another location (e.g. your Desktop). If it is coming up as BIN file or other you are ready to proceed to the next step. Step 3. Slide 66 Step 4. Open your Internet browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. and enter the IP address of your D-Link modem in the address bar: http://192.168.1.1. Step 5.
