I have known Andrea as both a student in my courses and as an advisee throughout her years at Mary Baldwin. Hence I've had the opportunity to observe her superior intelligence, ambition, and work habits. She is an Honor Student at Mary Baldwin, and in my courses she excelled in both oral and written presentations, demonstrating skills that will serve her well both in law school and in the legal profession. My Philosophy and Religion classes provided her with an opportunity to demonstrate her critical thinking skills, and she did so very effectively. Andrea has never been content to just "get by," but pushes herself to set the bar high and then reach it. Early in my work as Andrea's adviser I urged her not to take on an overly ambitious course load, but I soon learned those warnings were unnecessary, since she would take an overload and still excel in all her coursework. Beyond academics as such, Andrea's life experiences have exposed her to a wide variety of cultures and lifestyles, enabling her to respond appropriately to people whose views are very different from her own, without sacrificing her own integrity. She has been able to master a variety of languages, a good skill to have in our global society. She and her family have come through experiences in Eastern Europe that most of us can barely imagine, and has been able to emerge from those conflicts strengthened and empowered. She later made the change from the culture of a service academy to the less structured culture of Mary Baldwin, and she soon realized she was able to flourish here. Andrea has demonstrated the intellectual ability, self-discipline and ambition that will equip her to succeed at the next level, both in law school and in an ensuing legal career. I am pleased to recommend her to you in the confidence that she will use the opportunity to the fullest. Kenneth A. Beals, Th. D. Law School Admissions Staff:

I am pleased to write on behalf of Andrea Holman as she seeks to continue her education

at yotu' institution. I have known Andrea as both a student in my courses and as an advisee

throughout her years at Mary Baldwin. Hence I've had the opportunity to observe her superior

intelligence, ambition, and work habits. She is an Honor Student at Mary Baldwin, and in mycourses she excelled in both oral and written presentations, demonstrating skills that will serveher well both in law school and in the legal profession. My Philosophy and Religion classesprovided her with an opportunity to demonstrate her critical thinking skills, and she did so veryeffectively. Andrea has never been content to just "get by," but pushes herself to set the bar highand then reach it. Early in my work as Andrea's adviser I urged her not to take on an overly

ambitious course load, but I soon learned those warnings were unnecessary, since she would take

an overload and still excel in all her coursework.

Beyond academics as such, Andrea's life experiences have exposed her to a wide variety

of cultures and lifestyles, enabling her to respond appropriately to people whose views are verydifferent from her own, without sacrificing her own integrity. She has been able to master avariety of languages, a good skill to have in our global society. She and her family have comethrough experiences in Eastern Europe that most of us can barely imagine, and has been able toemerge from those conflicts strengthened and empowered. She later made the change from theculture of a service academy to the less structured culture of Mary Baldwin, and she soon

realized she was able to flourish here.

Andrea has demonstrated the intellectual ability, self-discipline and ambition that willequip her to succeed at the next level, both in law school and in an ensuing legal career. I am

pleased to recommend her to you in the confidence that she will use the opportunity to thefullest.
