While, traditional Filipino Games or indigenous games in the Philippines are games commonly played by children, usually using native materials that shows ingenuity and resourcefulness. Putting the two concepts together, the Laro ng Lahi 2019 of the Primary Department with its theme, “Larong Pinoy Sariwain; Batang Pinoy Pasayahin”, aimed to instill in each student the art and beauty of traditional Filipino Games. It was such an astonishing site to see Filipino Children playing alongside other foreign students, tiny students fearlessly battling those bigger than them and children mostly born and raised in Qatar yet skillfully playing the instituted Filipino Games. The thrill and tension was felt more with the intense effort of the teacher coaches as well as the parents who graciously supported the two-day event. An added sizzle was the dance number performed by selected parents which did not fail to catch the attention of the school principal, Dr. Alexander S. Acosta, who earnestly acknowledged the cooperation and presence of the parents. The weather during the opening day may had been unfavorable but it was not enough to dampen the spirit of everyone. The enthusiasm was evidently displayed as all participants raised their right hands to do the oath of sportsmanship which was ably led by Prince Eduard C. Salenga. The display of colors of the four competing teams, White Hawks, Blue Eagles, Red Tamaraws, and Yellow Tigers rejuvenated the entire PSD campus with an array of headdresses, balloons, banners, shirts, and masks. The wit and talent of the muses and escorts was also a big discovery. They have confidently represented their teams with prowess and joy.
