The earth has an infinite variety of land form

Some part of the lithosphere maybe rugged and some flat.

These landform are a result of two process.

You will be amazed to know that the ground you are standing is slowly moving.

MOUNTAINS

A mountains is any natural elevation of the earth surface.

1. The mountain may have a small summit and a broad bas.

2. It is consider higher than the surrounding area.

3. Some mountains are even higher than the clouds.

4. In some mountains, there are permanently frozen rivers of ice, they are called Glaciers.

The Siachen Glacier in Kashmir is the second longestWorld’s on-polar areas

FOLD MOUNTAINS

The Himalayan mountains and the alps are young fold mountains with rugged relief and high conical

peaks.

The Aravali rang in India is one of the oldest fold mountains systems in the world.

The Appalachians in north America and the Ural mountains in Russia have rounded features and low

elevation . They are very old fold mountain.

BLOCK MOUNTAINS

Block Mountains are crated when large area are broken and displaced vertically.

The Rhine valley and the Vosges mountain in Europe are examples of such mountain

system

The mountain has a flat top

VOLCANIC MOUNTAINS

Volcanic Mountains are formed due to volcanic activity

Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mt. Fujiyama in Japan are examples of such mountains.

Volcanic mountains have a hole in the top middle where the lava comes out just as the

experimental figure of a volcano shown.

PLATEAU

A plateau is an elevated flat land. It is a flat topped table land standing above the surrounding area.

A plateau may have one or more sides with step slopes.

The height of plateaus often varies from few hundred meters to several thousand meters.
