It extends your apartment by integrating it with the balcony area.The apartment becomes centralised around the LUMICENE which is not only an Inside/Outside interface but also links the kitchen, hall and living room. Due to the pre-vailing climate, the open veranda was not very practical. Adding the LUMI-CENE enabled the space to be used at any time with par-tial or full opening out onto the gar-den.

Initially, this 70’s traditional house design had an open veranda. A 3m diameter LUMICENE was added to enable the space to be used all year round.

The support beams are fixed directly onto the concrete lintel which is lin-ked constructionally with the concrete floor. Please contact us concerning me-tal lintels.

The design and build of the terrace must take into ac-count the soil structure.

CHARACTERISTICS

In our previous hou-se had a swimming pool which we only used 3 or 4 times each year. We can use the LUMICENE spa all year round, inside or outside.

This project was to improve the layout of the parent’s bedroom suite in a modern house. The bathroom became the dressing room and a LUMICENE extension was used for a bathroom and a spa.

Originally, this 1985 house was a typical «European Home» design, built with ren-dered breeze blocks.

ASSEMBLY STAGES

«I wanted a lot of light and access to the garden. I also wanted a space that could be used all year round.LUMICENE was chosen because it met all these criteria : light, comfort, warmth and perfect integration with my lounge.

A 5m diameter LUMICENE was selected which added 15.5m2 of space. It is integrated by slightly recessing it by 1 metre into the house. This extends the existing lounge rather than adding a separate room.

The method is technically straight forward : the wall opening is made and a concrete or steel beam is added. The metal frame and roof structure are then assembled. The process takes about a week, excluding the finishes.

We were looking for a conservatory when we came across LUMICENE. We immediately saw the advantage of the fully opening LUMICENE panels which add another level of comfort to a space which is ty-pically be too hot or too cold.

DELIVERY

LUMICENE is a standard industrial product.

It is delivered in a wooden case.

It essentially consists of - a lower rail fixed to the floor - uprights assembled on site - an upper rail suspended from the floor above - between 4 and 6 panels, depending on the diameter

INSTALLATION 48.

FALSE CEILING

The LUMICENE ceiling (225cm or 250cm) is generally lower than the rest of the room.This not only defines the LUMICENE space but, from a technical point of view, enables wider building tolerances to be used.It also enables a transversal support beam and insulation to be incorporated.The ceiling is made of plaster board mounted on standard metal framing.

UNDER-FLOOR HEATING

LUMICENE units are designed for use with hot water or electric under-floor heating.The lower rail is mounted on screw-jacks which allow the insulation and heating elements to pass easily underneath.

LIGHTING

The false ceiling enables built-in lighting to be used.It is recommended that a variable power switch be used and that the lights be positioned in a circle, corresponding to the size of table to be used. This avoids shadows in the plates during meals.

FLOOR FINISH

The LUMICEN E space is suitable for many floor finishes - typically tiles and carpets.Differentiating the LUMICENE space can produce great results.
