high-quality education has always been of value; today it remains an important asset all over the globe. the level of de-velopment of the country is directly de-pendent on the level of scientific cogni-tion of the nature and the society, as well as on the broad use of scientific achieve-ments in engineering and technology. thus the need for specialists with expe-rience in research will only grow in the years to come.
We invite all researchers interested in the mysteries of the universe and the organic
and inorganic nature, the development of technology, economic and social spheres of life, to pursue their doctoral stud-ies at ural federal university. being one of the leading russian universities in terms of research activities, ural federal university possesses all necessary facili-ties for doctoral students to pursue their studies in such fields as natural Sciences, mathematics, engineering, human Sciences, and economics. academic activities of the institute of Public administration and entrepreneur ship are of interdisciplin-ary character and cover the following
research areas: sociology, economics and management, political sciences. each re-search area covers a broad spectrum of so-cial, communicative, managerial problems related to the development of economic, political, state and socio-cultural systems.the staff of the institute includes more than 30 doctoral degree holders, 90 candi-dates of sciences and 20 young scientists. research activities of our lecturers are supported by grants provided by different foundations and companies. the institute provides funding and resources for a broad range of research activities initiated by its staff members. researchers present the results of their research at international
and national conferences, publish articles in russian and foreign periodicals with high ratings. the institute supports re-search groups engaged in the analysis of different aspects of the development of regional economy, social communities, political processes and institutes.Since 1997 the institute supports the publication of the journal “university management: Practice and analysis” de-voted to different aspects of university management. the journal has a high im-pact-factor in the russian Quotation index. the iPae supports young researchers, in particular, within the frames of activities of the young researchers council. candidate and doctoral theses are prepared under the supervision of the iPae professors. We invite all people interested in social and economic sciences to join our doctor-al program at the iPae. heads of doctoral programs have an experience of working at the leading international universities.

urfu institute of Public administration and entrepreneurship was formed on the basis of two academic units: the institute of management and business and the faculty of Public relations and advertising.
the institute of management and business was founded in 1997 to train managerial personnel and provide consultation for various organizations. today there are more than 2000 students; a lot of managers upgrade their professional skills and undergo refresher courses.
the faculty of Public relations and advertising was founded in 1998 on the basis of the idea integrated communications reflecting modern professional standards and consid-ering a real market situation in region as the foundation of curriculum concept.
today’s mission of the institute is providing the modernization process by training a new generation of leaders and specialists of public administration, social service and business, supporting the work of government bodies, enterprises, institutions and re-search organizations by consultations, development of modern communication, man-agement and social technologies

Department of Public Relations Managementthe program focuses on the study of the behavior of private businesses when operating in the public sphere. the students study how businesses respond to non-governmental chal-lenges to their market behavior such as pressure from private activists and negative media coverage. our students analyze the strategies that businesses pursue to actively influence the government institutions – legislatures, bureaucracies, and courts – that set the ‘rules of the game’ under which businesses compete. the program is taught using a combina-tion of case studies and theoretical frameworks that examine how business managers approach nonmarket challenges.

institute of humani-ties and arts (iha) supports a vast and flexible academic structure which en-ables researchers to achieve advanced results. research is conducted in 10 in-
tegrated fields: linguistics, russian his-tory, journalism, russian language, cul-tural studies, history of arts, studies in literature, classics, philosophy and mass media. in addition, 5 research collectives are awarded the status of the leading sci-entific schools by the academic board of urfu. the staff of the institute includes 160 candidates of sciences and 70 profes-sors with doctor of science degree. each department of the institute occupies leading position in respective academic field. iha is promoting the interdisciplin-ary research, striving to achieve essential synergy both in science and education.
heads of the iha doctoral programs have diverse experience both in conducting top-class research and in working with the international academic centers.
moreover, iha is the leader among national research centers of arts and humanities in terms of governmental financial support for research projects. the overall funding for fun-damental and applied research of iha projects is steadily growing, allowing us to actively in-volve leading researchers from abroad. most recently, one of the iha laboratories received the grant of the government of the russian federation to support a large-scale research project supervised by marie-Pierre rey of university Paris i Pantheon-Sorbonne.

faculty of education in the humanities for engineering and technology Students is one of the leading centers of modern educational and scientific technologies in the sphere of humani-ties. the faculty trains qualified specialists for economics, social sphere and culture. Students of the faculty study on bachelor and master programs such as “design”, “human resources management”, “Publishing business”, “Service”, “applied ethics” on both theoretical and practical levels. Students acquire skills necessary for conducting research in these fields and applying their results in practice.

Department of International Economicsthe program is devoted to the development of theoretical and practical foundations for the transformations of economic and social institutions, the development of models for defining the influence of external and internal factors on the economic systems, the deter-mination of the influence of risks on the economic systems. on the basis of the developed models the optimum parameters of economic systems are defined. one of the main sys-tems under consideration is the pension system. the works developed within the frames of the program are based on the progressive works of economic scientists and are ap-probated on the broad statistical data.
