The people of the housing scheme

of Desa Seraya, located in the town

of Tandop in Alor Star, Kedah, live in

pleasant surroundings: 30 of the

houses are 2-storey terrace hous-

es, 321 are 2-storey terrace houses,

while the remaining 60 are semi-

detached 2-storey buildings. Their

water supply is handled by a Grundfos Hydro Booster

2000 system, which combines five speed-controlled CR

pumps with sophisticated controls to maintain con-

stant pressure at minimum cost.

Having already run for two years,

the booster system has certainly

delivered satisfaction to all. Not

only did it eliminate the need for a

large elevated suction tank

a structure which would have

been both cumbersome and costly it has also prov-

en very reliable. Maintenance costs have been low,

and the speed-control feature makes sure that the

system only uses just the right amount of energy to

keep the pressure up. No more. No less.

All this helps make a Hydro Booster system the per-

fect combination of quality and cost-efficiency.

Do you

Liqtech sensor. This sensor for CR

pumps prevents dry running, the

most common cause of pump

failure, by monitoring a pumps

cooling characteristic. A slow

cooling-profile indicates the

absence of liquid and stops the

pump automatically.

Laser-welded impellers. On our

CR pumps, we have replaced

traditional spot-welding with

highly specialised laser-welding,

which burns through over 2mm of

stainless steel at temperatures up

to 100,000C to produce perfect,

seamless welds that dramatically

reduce internal turbulence.

Materials. Grundfos pumps are

made in a variety of materials,

depending on their use. This

includes cast-iron pumps for less

aggressive fluids, various grades

of stainless steel for more aggressive

environments, and titanium for

the toughest of applications.
